I've reached that point where I've long since forgotten what tool review or how-to video initially brought me to this channel. I don't think I've seen every video yet, but I'm getting pretty close.
Mate, I love your editing. This combination of documentary style, combined with such a strong sense for asthetics and all those little but unobtrusive editing tweaks...just a joy to watch! Now, coffee: If you want good coffee, you NEED to use fresh coffee beans (perfect would be 14-30 days after roasting) and grind them fresh. Get yourself one of those little manual Hario grinders - it will be a night and day difference. Life is too short for bad coffee mate ;)
As someone living in NI and just gone jnto another lockdown. It's refreshing to see new videos on RU-vid from people in countries that are almost back to "normal". Keep up the good work Scott...and crew!!
'My girlfriend started getting sick.' I almost jumped out of my chair....thought you were announcing a baby-Brown was being added to SBC....glad you guys are all good though and HNY
You’re videos are awesome! I’m renovating my place in New Jersey 🇺🇸 and I come here for creative ideas and tips. The music is cool. I really like your work bench! Good content...
My best bud WL shipped me one to here in the Bay Area (CA)...it’s already stained and ready for real work. And my 20 month old loves it! He points to the wheels and says “hubpa! Hubpa!” (Hubcap! Hubcap!).
Love it, you get a slight cold get tested. Meanwhile in the UK it's winter and snowing 90% of people have the snuffles and colds so every one is carrying on as normal as it takes too long to get a test booked by which time the cold and sniffles have gone. Glad you're both alright though and happy new year!
Scott watched your videos for the last year. In the last 30 days. I have taken classes to get my GC license. Started a construction business and got my first bid excepted for a renovation. Thanks for the motivation to finally go it on my own.
I think I've watched enough of your videos that I have a Pavlovian response to your "Smoko Time" music - as soon as the music comes on, this eagerness to see what you're going to be eating next overwhelms me. Lol!
I'm an architectural graduate based in Auckland and your videos are so awesome! Great being able to see what I draw everyday in detail and process!! Starting to work up my first addition to a 1920's bungalow and its similar to this home
I love the respect for older construction and the care involved in preserving, renovating and updating these old buildings. Thanks for sharing your great work !
You guys work sooo clean. If i change a light bulb here in the Netherlands there is generally more mess and dust than i see in the video. My compliments.
It was likely a shaping machine that did the moulding on that window. With a very large diameter shaper bit. The parallel distance between the point where the cut stops being completely flat, at the point there is a radius, and the the point where the moulding stops and the original part of the window starts, is the bare minimum diameter for the bit, it looks like your bit is about 1/2 the size needed to replicate the exact same size.
Totally agree! I was thinking to replicate that same end radius would be as simple as clamping a tapered timber at each end so it pushes the router off the work piece as you go along. Similar to how he did the repair.
Top tip for them coffee bags, puncture the bag on the top side then let it brew. It will still filter without bits as the bottom side isn’t punctured. If you have hot water ready give the bag a quick dip before the puncture.
I hope you enjoyed a little time off Scott Brown! Glad to see you back, always look forward to your channel, bit of humor and woodworking / construction. Great stuff!
Hi from Canada . Glad your both ok and healthy . I have the same Makita plunge router base just like yours I love my Makita router and the plunge base Thanks for sharing great videos .
The search for good coffee. I finally settled on an Aeropress for when I'm out working. I've learned not to pull too many faces when offered instant coffee these days. I bought into a few pod machine groups at my last workplace. It was a very big site and it was good to be able to grab a decent coffee wherever I was on the site.
It's impressive that you fix old windows at location, instead of going to the shop. (Only that your shop isn't used for working but just demoing Gaston's tools) Waiting to see what that window looks like when finished!
With your French press, try using the screen more as a pour filter. Meaning, don't press it down, but just stop it at the surface of your liquid and pour as you normally would. Pressing it down will stir up more fine particles, and you may find a more clear coffee comes from this.
Glad you're back Scott. PS The wife and i went down the same covid track at Christmas, went for a test on the 26th. Three days in isolation to get a negative result. This is in Brisbane bye the way.A bit stressful
Hi Scott, good to see you and your girlfriend and work m8s are safe and well plus nice to see you back at it . Happy New year 🎉 keep up the great work you are doing and be safe 🙏👍 from colin bradford in Milton Keynes in the uk . 🇬🇧.
Im a third year apprentice, and I bloody love your videos mate, I learn more from some of these videos than the monkey of a boss I have teaching me some days 👍
try an Aeropress coffee maker. best portable coffee maker ever. get the metal filter rather than the paper ones. don't boil the water fully. let it cool a little or take it off earlier. don't burn the coffee.
Not had an ant nest yet. Summer 2019 I was in a clients garden ripping two-bys on a table saw for furring strips - ear defenders on, couldn’t hear much - finished and turned the saw off but still heard a loud whooshing. What the hell? Turned around and was 6 feet away from, probably 10,000 bees that had decided to move from the rotten tree they called home. The queen had landed on a small tree and the rest on the colony had swarmed her for protection. This little tree was sagging from the weight, clumps of bees were dripping off like melted wax from a candle and would fly back to the top. The client phoned a local beekeeper, came and took the lot away in several 5 gallon buckets. Fascinating.
You could try compacting your coffee grinds ether before they are wet or having them slightly damp. Makes it harder for the water to go though and pulls more out of them
I have the makita coffee maker and although it’s not same as cafe standard it’s not bad. I use fresh ground coffee out of bag. You have to use the spoon that comes with it. One levelled spoon is the correct amount otherwise the water spills over I found. Also only uses max 240ml of water
If possible, I would be interested in seeing a more detailed video on historical exterior house/window trim design used in New Zealand. Possibly highlighting some of the more common old styles you have had to replicate. Thank you for your videos!
I binge watched all of your previous episodes in December so it felt like a long wait for this one, it's good that you are back I just wish there was more to watch.
Hey Scott, just ditch the coffee maker as a daft idea & buy a decent thermos flask instead! I take a flask with me all over the place in my truck here in Canada. Even in the deep of winter, with temperatures down in the mid -20 s I still get a hot coffee or tea on the way home in the afternoon. Also....ants damp!
I like how your trimmer/router makpac was layed out. But it didn’t have the plunge attachment or the carpenterone3 guide in there so do you have another makpac fitted out just for attachments? Video on this please😏
Scott, I used to use the Smoko/French press also but just switched to an Aeropress for making coffee onsite. Just need the hot water. Not as muddy and no fines as the French press. That Makita machine is junk lol
I got a Makita coffee maker as-well and I use coffee bags not shore if you can get these in New Zealand but worth a look and they give you a strong coffee. Love the videos keep up the good work
Happy New Year, hope it's successful & safe for you & your Bubble Buddy. When you said new colours, I thought you had painted in Scott Brown colours... Then I realised it was just your tarpaulin!! Ahh the SowFeet or SoFIT debate 😆😋✔️👍👍
I switched out my corded multi tool for a cordless DEWalt because of the keyless blade change. And then purchased a battery adapter to work with my makita batteries
Hi Scott, that "weird tripod thing" is called a C stand (C for Century, a very old Hollywood brand name) it is probably the most used piece of film equipment on most sets, and you have it set up wrong, the weight of the load on the arm will be trying to loosen the knuckle, think "righty tighty", lefty loosy, and cough up for a shot bag to put on the base so it doesn't tip on you, by the way that second cup of coffee looked the goods.
