The 90-minute version of NBC's Pink Panther Show, airing during the 1976-77 season, featured not only an opening theme song and a closing instrumental, but additional musical segments to close and open each half-hour act of the program. The audio from all six segments is presented here. Cartoon titles included in the show were "The Pink Panther," "The Inspector," "The Ant and the Aardvark," "Texas Toads" (a reworking of "Tijuana Toads"), and the newly-created "Misterjaw."
"The Think Pink Panther Laugh-and-a-Half Hour-and-a-Half Show" was created by David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng and produced by Mirisch Films. All copyrights in the original material are acknowledged. This video is produced for purposes of historical documentation and research, and clips used are illustrative only. This audio was recorded from a TV speaker on a Certron cassette.

Oh wow, glad to see this resurfaced, even if it's only the audio! Probably the only time The Inspector was called Clouseau in the cartoons, right in the theme song

Thank you very much for finding this! Even if it is just the audio 💖💖💖 I always liked this funny panther theme song 🍿 I remember funny animated segments where Mr Jaws was actually trying to eat the Pink Panther and the toads. I'm still praying and hoping the animated segments show up. Thank you for finding part of my childhood 😁

One year around this time they had a bumper with a song that went, “Who’s number one in the panther hall of fame? Think pink!” Or maybe I just dreamed it.

That was 1977-78, when it was called "The Think Pink Panther Show." That theme song is floating around RU-vid also.

I remember seeing this version of "Pink Panther" back in 1976. By this time, NBC had dropped their long time peacock mascot temporarily for the "trapezoid N" logo, which got them into a lawsuit, since they unknowingly stole/ borrowed it from a Nebraska College Institute logo. It's tough luck that original footage for this series is lost, except for the audio; maybe someday a collector will find an entire original episode. I haven't seen this in it's entire length since 1977. MGM/UA obviously has it in it's vaults somewhere.

Can you remember what happened in the intro?
@robertorick6383
@robertorick6383 2 месяца назад
@@aidahozoori8675 As far as I'm concerned, NBC may have it in it's vaults, except for the sad fact that NBC didn't always preserve their color kinoscopes or videotapes, and in fact, like the BBC in England, wiped many of them for recycling because video was considered expensive in those days, and NBC liked to save money by reusing video tapes and a number of other videos probably got thrown out due to carelessness or deterioation. If NBC doesn't have any remains of the intros, it's possible that MGM/U-A may have them in their vaults, if they haven't chopped up the hour and a half long or edited them to pieces over the years due to syndication demands (such as changing the "Tijuana Toads" names to the "Texas Toads" due to sensitivity issues with Mexican-Americans. They didn't change their behavior or expressions in the cartoons themselves, though. The toads still had broken Spanish languages, like Speedy Gonzales (this was due to Friz Freleng having worked on both series for two different studios.) The intros, as far as I remember was an introduction to the Pink Panther and the various DFS characters (The Inspector, The Ant & The Aardvark, Mr. Jaws, The Texas Toads, and possibly Hoot Kloot or The Dogfather.) The visual was a series of clips of the characters doing typically slapstick scenes. There was also a "Bicentennial" theme in the music arrangement, since the series premiered from 1976-77.

In my opinion, this was when the Pink Panther jumped the proverbial shark. I was a big fan of the half-hour show, and I was excited when I heard they were going to extend it to an hour and a half. Why didn't I like it? For one thing, they played this annoying theme music at the beginning and end of each half-hour. Second, most of the 90 minutes was taken up by newer cartoons. They showed maybe two Pink Panther cartoons for the entire 90 minutes, and maybe one of the Ant and the Aardvark. Third, they expanded the stupid "riddles" segments between the cartoons, which were always my least favorite part of the show. Shortly after this format began airing, I switched my loyalties back to Bugs Bunny

I can see why. An hour and a half is too much! NBC's Smilin' Saturday Morning block wasn't that good after all except for Woody Woodpecker and Pink here.
@kiartoons2010
@kiartoons2010 2 месяца назад
The long runtime was the main reason this version only lasted one season anyway. Plus, I can definitely see it being annoying wanting to watch The Pink Panther (you know the character the show's named after) and then most getting a bunch of other characters you don't care about. I think the theme music's fine, but using it at the beginning and end of EVERY HALF HOUR would probably make it obnoxious quick.

@@kiartoons2010 Exactly! The theme song was actually pretty catchy, but they played it MUCH too often.

It's the other way around. They were originally called The Tijuana Toads when they premiered in theaters. However NBC asked DePatie Freleng to redub the toads to the Texas Toads. Today the original Tijuana Toads name has returned.

By 1977, NBC decided to cut back to a half hour and renamed to the “Think Pink Panther Show” with a catchy theme song and a weird synthesized sound at the very beginning. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vZaNCSbZIj8.html
