Thank you for that helpful video, Mr. Wang! It really changed my plans in terms of which city to choose. After my 2 years of living in Beijing I initially thought to move to Guangzhou, but now I like the idea of moving to Sichuan more. Simply because I'm not really a megapolis type of guy, I feel happier when I live among something traditional, authentic.

Glad it was helpful! Both Guangzhou and Sichuan are great places, but obviously depends on what kinds of lifestyle you want.

Great insights By Zi! As an expat living living in between Guangzhou and Chengdu for 4 years, I tend to like Chengdu more due to quality of food per price capita, the locals are more content people compared to Shenzhen thus being more happier, this will definitely reflect your mood living there. I also like Chengdu more because of the shifting weather ( chance of Snow in Chengdu during winter)

Nice video Zi Wang. I currently live in Nanjing. I couldn't agree more about Shanghai and Beijing. I've met people in the US who have said they previously lived in China. Where? When they say Shanghai I respond, "You didn't live in China." My wife is from Wuhan, which I call the Big Village. I used to tell my US friends it was the biggest city you never heard of. Can't say that anymore. We both love the Sichuan cities but the air quality there is pretty bad. At least it was a few years ago. Both cities are nestled in the mountains so air movement isn't sufficient to clear the pollution. But we love the cities none the less. I have to say my favorite area now is Nanjing / Suzhou / Hangzhou. Close enough to Shanghai for the benefits, but far enough away to have a real China feeling.
@ZacKing
@ZacKing 3 года назад
Thank you for sharing your insights! The Nanjing / Suzhoug / Hangzhou area is amazing as you said. It is easier to have a good life away from the Tier 1 cities and at the same time experience a less internationalised China (if that's what one is looking for)

In fact, many cities in China are very good. I recommend some more. If you have the opportunity, you can travel there. Such as Xiamen, Zhuhai, Qingdao, Weihai, Dalian, Changsha, etc.

Wuhan was the first Central governed city in Chinese history, and by no means it's the biggest VILLAGE. Though not as advanced as Beijing or Shanghai, Wuhan is definitely a modern metropilitan with tier 1 level of Science, Technology, Medical facility and Education resources. The name of "Chicago in the East" called in 1900s is not a joke.

Awesome review, having lived there for a few years as an older Amer. you are spot on. Shenzhen, best city ever, live on the outskirts for better prices. Best subway systems, high speed rail and so on. And malls are top in the world. Prefer the south to the north, the weather is crummy in the northern cities in the winter as is in any country. And the air is far better in the southern areas. Guangzhou is also very nice.

@Dennis Chu Both sides are working together in my opinion. because both china and Americas media is saying the same thing but opposite. China says it originated in America and Usa is saying it originated in china. its us vs the government, not china vs usa. usa government is buying all of our real estate and businesses because the citizens can afford to live. the pandemic was the largest transfer of wealth in history

I really like the way how you explained not including Beijing and Shanghai. I mean honestly, I feel the same way as you do. What's even the benefit of staying in China if you are not able to make interactions and communications with local ethnicities. That would not make any sense. Living in China means we should be able to experience a pure Chinese style of life.

The first place I ever visited in China was Chongqing, to visit a friend. Was definitely in the deep end getting off the plane at midnight and all the transport was already stopped… Took a black cab to the hotel room, my Chinese friend was fuming next day as apparently I got scammed (but distance & amount paid compared to Aus was super fair) - and the guy was actually super helpful in finding the hotel. Money well spent 😂 was also interesting I couldn’t get Wifi at the hotel without a Chinese sim card, which I couldn’t get without a Chinese ID card.. Again tho thank god I had local friends

Hey man, great video but I have a few questions. I suppose the main thing for me is the privacy (lack there off) or censorship, is China really that intrusive on a personal level as many other says or is that not representative of China and is simply propaganda from other countries. As you have lived (living?) there, it would really mean alot if you can answer this. Also I dont intend any disrespect in any way, shape or form. I'm simply rather curious.
