You can tell how great a man is, when he's confident enough to praise, & give credit to others. These 3 men were/are the true meaning of greatness. Each an excellent singer, & can share the same spotlight.
After all these years this holds up, a concert suffused with joy and camaraderie. The interaction among these artists is as great to watch as their voices are to hear. These men make me fall in love with them, with beauty, with hope.

I've seen interviews with Pavarotti and he credits Joan Sutherland as teaching him how to correctly use his diaphragm while performing. He said if not for that, he would have ruined his voice. And what a loss that would have been for the world.
They are the GREATEST and here is footage to prove how the brought the best out in one another. I just love how this show what good men they really were.
The amount of talent and charisma on that stage will never be equalled - even they couldn’t top this - maybe the Los Angeles concert at Dodger Stadium (their second time teaming up) came close. I saw them twice - in Cleveland and in the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit. The were fabulous - but the electricity in Caracalla was magic and it comes through every time you watch! The three of them with Mehta was a most suited collaboration.
sacaron la opera de los teatros mas importantes del mundo para llevarlo al gusto del pueblo, lo lograron, cuando tuve 7 años vi su primer concierto y ver a un Jose Carreras recien recuperado de su enfermedad demostro que volvia un grande al escenario con la opera limprovisso di giorano creo, luego ver a un Placido Domingo con la sarzuela No puede ser y un Pavarotti con su inmortal Nessun Dorma, y los 3 interpretar la ultima cancion realmente fue una emocion muy grande fue un extasis fenomenal, una cosa asi no volvera a suceder nunca o al menos que salga un trio igual que ellos, pero creo que eso sera muy dificil, mucha nostalgia me embarga el dia de hoy :) lo mejor de lo mejor xD
Continuación: Hubiera sido muy difícil conjugar las agendas, repertorios y exigencias de cuatro gigantes. Solamente en un evento de beneficencia, inauguración de un teatro o algo subvencionado por un gobierno podía pasar excepcionalmente eso. (Como pasó más de alguna vez). Pero para organizar una gira, grabar en vivo y todo eso, creo que este trío de genios fue la mejor decisión. Muchos nos acercamos al bel canto y luego saltamos a la ópera y otros géneros gracias a estos conciertos hermosos.
The Video Encore was made while rehearsing prior to Concert.. Owing that Caracalla was being revamped & rebuilt THE two complete Orchestras of 100 Each had to rehearse TWO separate Venues.. Only days Prior to concert did they rehearse as one orchestra.. Beautifully Orchestrated and Great Zubin Mentha as Conductor (Whom managed to steal Scenes throughout the Concert Rightfully So) !! While some errors were made You would Never Notice them until 1996 When second concert in LA & only if you View Both Concerts same day..

Hay cosas hermosas que cada uno de los cuatro ( Carreras, Pavarotti, Domingo y Kraus) hacen o hicieron mejor que ningún otro en la historia. Y eso no afecta a los demás. Los cuatro con voces, tesituras, repertorios y temperamentos diferentes son genios, el mejor es el que a cada quien le guste más. Yo admiro y quiero a los cuatro, pero mi favorito es Carreras, y no me atrevo a decir que uno de ellos es mejor que los demás. (Y veo a ese nivel (Genios) a Di Stefano, Corelli, Lanza, Wunderlich, etc
P. D. Y Domingo si es un tenor completísimo, obviamente la voz humana no es una computadora programable, tiene sus potencialidades y limitaciones, tiene su tope de vida óptima, va decayendo, pero lo hecho en plenitud existe como testimonio de la obra de cada artista. No nos ofendamos ni ofendamos a los maestros, que ellos lo que han hecho es brindarse por completo a nosotros, y gracias a Dios los hemos escuchado a todos, no sería lo mismo si faltara cualquiera de ellos. Viva el Bel Canto.
Con todo respeto: Para reconocer el mérito de uno no es necesario ni justo atacar el de otro(s). Esta idea fue sensacional, su éxito lo enseña. Obvio que los puristas no iban a estar de acuerdo, atreverse a romper esquemas es meritorio y valiente. Si Kraus hubiera estado nadie le hiciera sombra a nadie, como aquí tampoco ocurrió,son distintos los cuatro. Además él no hubiera cantado este repertorio, era más conservador (respetable). Y cuatro tenores enormes juntos sería caro y poco moldeable.
Oyendo a Alfredo Kraus se entiende a la perfección lo que una vez dijo el genial Albert Einstein respondiendo a lo que podría considerarse en el Universo como "absoluto". No dudó el sabio alemán: la estupidez humana. En el concierto de Caracalla en 1990 y los que le siguieron, se impuso el mezquino interés mediático y pesetero. Un insulto al talento, no haber invitado al mejor tenor de todos los tiempos. Es hasta cierto punto comprensible: A QUIEN LE GUSTARÍA QUE LE HAGAN SOMBRA.
Y porque no invitar también a Aragall cuyo voz era mas bella que la de Domingo, Kraus o Carreras? y de Italia a Fisichella, Armilliato, la Scola, Licitra...Y las sopranos? Los barítonos?...
