I think it could be that they’re worried not reacting would allow the behavior to perpetuate and be seen as acceptance, so by responding they are attempting to make it clear the behavior will not be tolerated… however thanks to how algorithms work, this obviously counts as interacting with a post and the platform thinks they liked it. When travellers come through my community, police presence is raised, people in my community harass them and tell them to go somewhere else, my company head office even sent out an email to my work to tell us to "be on guard" as travellers were present in the community. I agree that there are some horrible groups of travellers out there who just spoil it for everyone else, but I sympathize with the ones who are just trying to live their traditional life. I've met some wonderful travellers in my years and it's upsetting that with all the progressiveness happening in the world today, travellers are being left behind and dogged on.
