@@robbybee70 The movie wasn't a success but became a cult hit later. Recently, Hollywood was talking about making some Remo Williams movies but, as anyone who's read the books can tell you, SJW leftist Hollywood would have a fit. They would demand the stories be changed to a point far beyond ruination.
Regarding Frank Dux claiming to be the stunt coordinator for the movie 'the quest', while the real stunt coordinator is sitting at the table is priceless.
Bitter sweet with Frank Dux. Prolific liar about his entire life and that's always cringe worthy when found out. Plus side is, we got a great martial arts film out of it.
Why not invite Frank Dux to come on air and discuss his side of this story? I have done some behind the scenes Investigating personally and feel there are some solid facts NOT being discussed here. Frank Dux is someone I am personally connected to and am more than happy to help this process if interested? 💜🙏
I'm very interest and would absolutely luv to have Frank Dux on the channel, for an overall interview addressing a few different things and giving him a platform to speak on... I've already been in contact with The Maverick youtube channel, which says he knows Frank as well... but go ahead and email me at RealVikingSamurai@gmail.com anytime... definitely want to set something up with anyone who can help out!
@@carnivorousbarbie He actually does make it look very beautiful while being fluid. I'll say this right now, Van Damme has some of the most beautiful kicks on screen.
Yeah the only bad thing is he makes it so obvious he's missing and his movements are all show there's no real technique to them. If you have ever seen an actual kickboxing match or even mma you can see just how bad it is and the whole illusion is ruined
The first time I saw The Quest was when me and a friend who trained in Taekwondo were going to the state tournament. We slept at his uncles house near the tournament location and he ordered it on PPV. We watched it the night before the tournament and got pumped up. I got the silver medal in my division in WTF Taekwondo sparring and bronze in forms.
@@TheMajor8478 yes I make intentional typo's to draw comments from people who are so desperate for attention they have to bring up a typo like it is important. I call it, jackass bait, thanks for taking a bite
@Red Dogg - Rebel4Truth no you would not mouth off to me in person believe me, no one ever has and a guy hiding behind a keyboard won't be the first if you want to sign a waiver and make the shit I do to you legal tho you can come to me and get humbled. we both know you will not however
I like the foot sweep Jean Claude van Damme did in Quest. The different moves made that movie. I think No Retreat No Surrender was another good movie where he showed off several moves
It’s one of my favorite too, good eye, he has the best skill level and best kicks in this movie, here he still kicks and punches 100% like a fighter, everything after this no retreat no surrender is more movie like, that’s why when people tell me Van damme can’t punch or box, cuz he over swings in his other movies, I be like dude that’s to make it look good for the general audience, it’s movie fighting, I always re-direct them to No Retreat No Surrender to see how fast hard and good he strikes with both hands and feet.
If you wanna see a good fighters movie (not JCVD though) watch "Heetseeker" or "Kickboxer 4: The Aggressor". Neither are very good movies (both are Albert Pyun movies) but the fights are pretty good stylewise...kinda...well I like em lol.
@@leviathan_is_meI loved the KB sequels, all of them. I really like KB 4 as well, with a El Chapo like Mexican drug lord Tong Po, however it is one of those bad movies that I just love. I mean it’s not a good movie, even if we like it a lot, I agree with you on that. That other movie u mentioned never heard of it. That said don’t feel the same about bloodsport sequels, they suck.
How's that for a Hollywood coincidence that Frank Dux bullshits that he was the stunt coordinator on the Quest, and the real stunt coordinator just so happens to be sitting at his table.
Roger Moore in his autobiography said that Van Damme was the worst person he met in his entire 50 year career. Would be nice to hear more about why he would think this.
Lol, most of us English aren’t stuffy, but generally we all have a great sense of humour 😁 Great segment on the Quest. I think it is a shame though that Steven Lambert didn’t stick around, could have really embarrassed Frank Dux in front of the group. Looking forward to the American Ninja segment, watched those on VHS back in the day.
I could see English people like he is talking about in film or whatever being stuffy because I have heard that even from other English people but us run of the mill working class English do have a great sense of humour.
@@iamthatguyfromslipknot1137 Yeah agree. Tbh it I was just joking, but yes I can see the comment for what it was. There is a English director that his name escapes that was seen as inflexible while directing films, and a bit stuffy. Listening to Prince Charles would be a great example of being stuffy, bet his jokes would clear a room lol 😂😂
With all do respect the end fight of LION HEART is way better the same actors but really tired and trite was the quest. If he had teamed up with jackie chan or donnie yet, jet wow that would have been special but Eagle path will be grand lets hope.
LOL the first time I saw you I thought u looked like Alan Arkin I love your Brooklyn accent, Mr. Lambert. I wish you make an audiobook of your book, I can listen to you all day! I’m from Detroit I was just in Atlanta shooting and my Uber driver knew I was out of town LOL 😂 Because of my accent I think it’s cool that we all have different accents in the US but New York and Boston have the coolest.
These Steven Lambert posts are just awesome. This material is 20 years old plus, yet you've given us a new spin and made it relevant... Now, I'm going to make a request, if possible... I see in the background you have a 90's classic that I'd love to hear your take on. Only The Strong is a gem that few know about as is the film's star, Mark Dacascos. What a great film featuring a charismatic star who I felt could've actually matched (gulp!) JCVD as far as MA skill goes and maybe even surpass as an actor. The guy has/had an ass-kicking Keanu Reeves/Brandon Lee edge to him.
Jean Claude had a more impressive physique (harder, more sturdy looking) by a bit and Dacascos was ultimately more agile and had more moves in his prime. I feel that Dacascos was Brandon Lee 2.0; guy with handsome asiatic facial looks, white guy beach body and serious moves. He was what Brandon should have grown into but did not have the time.
This interview is truly the gift, that keeps on giving. I feel like out of nowhere, Jean Claude Van Damme is gonna be on the channel. If that happens I'm gonna lose it. Once again, Thanks, for all that you do. Maybe one day, I'll be able to speak with you in a ten hour conversation. That's an inside joke, between my friends and i. Just means I appreciate conversations. TERRANCE OUT
I started watching your videos from the very beginning. I am really proud of you and seeing how you are growing and evolving with your channel. Good job!
It would be great to see a reboot of Remo Williams. I think one of the best fits for Fred Ward's character, appearance wise, is Jon Bernthal. When he played in Wolf of Wall Street with the goatee, I was like, he could be the next Remo Williams. Of course nobody can replace Fred Ward because he's aweomse, but I think Jon may able to carry the torch and make a series of Remo Wiliams movies. Fred Ward could come back and play Jon's father. I think there's something there and I hope someone can pass this idea along! Maybe Steven Lambert could make a few calls!!
I can tell you from a professional fighters point of view, he once he made the claim that he knocked out 50 guys in one day. B.S. Physically that is impossible, guys like Benny Urquidez, Don Wilson myself have had careers as fighters, he may have had that many K.O. over a lifetime of fighting, but to do it in one day? NO WAY! I call B.S.
I think Stephen was saying "Bollocks". English slang for testicle's. In case anybody was wondering. Normally said when things go wrong or you're saying something is rubbish.
I hope you asked a little about: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Critters, Raw Deal, Innerspace, Twins, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Ghostbusters II, Blind Fury, Total Recall, The Hard Way, Army of Darkness - Evil Dead III, Best of the Best II, RoboCop 3, Beverly Hills Cop III, The Specialist, Casino, Escape from LA, Titanic, Vampires, The Negotiator, Scream 3, Ocean's Eleven, Panic Room, Red Dragon, Ocean's Twelve, Let Me In , The Green Hornet, The One ... all of the movies are very entertaining.
It's amazing all the stuff the guy takes credit for .. the inspiration for the UFC , head stunt director on the Quest. Took credit for the camera speed style on Bloodsport , which Sheldon Lettich said came from himself and Van Damme not Dux . I am surprised Dux hasn't taken credit for Enter The Dragon lol
That's why I didn't like JCVD back then- Technique, Pose, Technique, Pose, Technique, Pose. Now he is a better fighter in his older years because he is open-minded in his maturity.
So glad I found your channel! Only the other day I was watching American ninja behind-the-scenes footage on the DVD and Stephen Lambert was giving an interview, I wished I could hear more from him and then boom I find your interviews! What legend SL is and that chase scene in revenge of the ninja is the best I’ve ever seen!!!
@@robd1329 he shit himself after sammy the bull gravano put a choke hold, or rather threatened to put a choke hold on him. Shit came flying out of ol Stephen's brown eye 👁️💩.
Annnnnnd, the Kumite: An event which, by Dux' OWN ADMISSION, had more cameras filming than an episode of Mystery Diners, yet not a single frame of footage is ANYWHERE to be found!
I checked out Stephen’s stunt filmography last night. He’s worked with Stallone on 2 films. Rambo 3 and The Specialist. Pretty awesome he’s worked with him on Rambo 3 I’ve got to say. Really looking forward to hearing about his time with Sly on both films.
Does he talk about when Stallone was nearly killed on Rambo 3 and what went wrong with that stunt ? It was the scene where he was shooting at the helicopter
where people get it from is his name appears in the credits! maybe it's a different Frank Dux (crazy luck if it is) but as I recall he's credited as a writer.
Could you also ask Steven about the rumor that The Quest was intended to become a franchise? I read that there was a plan for Sequels but the Frank Dux lawsuit against Van Damme and the fact the film wasn't a HUGE global hit derailed those plans. is that true? Did Van Damme and the producers want to do more with the character Van Damme was playing in the Quest? Another question too, was Peter McDonald the 'true' director of the film?...Van Damme got a lot of credit as director but i read that he didn't really know what he was doing and it was a tough shoot for everyone as a result and that Peter had to step up and get everything together and Van Damme got the credit for promotional purposes.
Great collaboration! On one end you get to keep this beloved genre alive, and on the other Mr Lambert can clear the air and give real insight getting the credit he deserves.!keep em coming!
I understand how Steven felt about Fraud Dux, something similar happened to me in a previous job I had. Someone trying to get the credit out of your effort its awful. But The Quest marked the end of Frank Dux career, after he sued Van Damme that was it.
Every one the speaks bad and calls Frank dux a fraud is some how telling the truth but every one that comes out to verify Frank dux story is ignored funny ain't it
Shout out to Hanshi Jerry Piddington. Mr. Piddington was an (assistant) fight coordinator & fighter, hired for The Quest. He got sick once they were on location, & wasn't able to join the film.
frank got beat up at the sands convention by a low level kick boxer. I was there. It lasted a second or 2. Frank told him he could use the death touch on him. lol
Another great interview with Steven. Great insight. I love hearing all this stuff about the Quest. I love that movie. I've watched it 100 times. The fighting styles used in the film were superb. My copy of Steven's book is on the way. Can't wait to read it. I also got a question 4 Steven. Who has Steven met that he feels is a legit tough guy who was also progressed into doing movies. Are all action martial arts guys just 'fakers' who do choreography? For a long time I thought Seagal was that guy after seeing 'Above the Law', but clearly he ain't so tough.
Steven Lambert told only his opinion. He saw Steven Seagal 30 years ago,he was not fight coordinator on Seagals film. For example,Ron Balicki,a real martial arts master,a husband Dana Lee Inisanto think Seagal a true martial arts master. They training together. He told that Steven gave him and Diana Lee two lessons for work with knife. Here his words: Ron Balicki Ron Balicki 4 года назад He has given Diana Lee Inosanto and I both lessons. He does know a lot and has a full knife system. His knife system is well thought out. I have no problem saying he taught me. He's quite good. Thanks.
Seagal has gotten praise from very skilled fighters and bouncers/martial artists. Rey Garcia, a BJJ black belt, Judo black belt, and Karate black belt with Judo championships under his belt, has trained with Seagal and stated that Seagal is legit.
@@AztecUnshaven After that podcast with Dan Woolfman,i wrote Rey Garcia about Seagal. And he wrote me that Seagal show him interesting things.BTW Sifu Mark Gerry also was with Seagal on his seminar, and Seagal show him some elements. And his opinion was that Seagal is real
@@AztecUnshaven If you watch Dan's podcast with Rey Garcia,in the ens was my question;in 2012 Steven had a seminar with Russian Securities and police special unit.Head Istructor Sambo 70 school was there,he gave a big interview about Sambo school.and told some words about Seagal. After seminar gyus who was with Seagal told him that they use in work some Seagals elements.and that his martial arts level very high.the level of his training in martial arts is not lower than theirs
Just my opinion, I grew up in BFE, so information was hard earned. On one of the five channels, kung-fu theater, and pro-Kick boxing, the greats were my inspiration. And sometimes one would accept info at face value, so like so many others, ya find out its all BS. Thats where Dux comes in. I agree with the Dragon 100 percent. Dux is a disgrace.
Steven man, I love your work, much respect for you, and No disrespect, but next time just say "I was there all day and night" don't say "I worked, or was there 30 hours a day"
Viking Samurai looking forward to American Ninja. Got a cool short story about the late Actor Steve James. Additional: have you done a video on Brandon Lee and The Crow ?
Lambert is absolutely right. I cant understand why van damme hasnt ever evolved screen fighting wice, since late 80s. He repeated same pattern and same expression of the movement, over and over agaim hes whole career. Its not like Van damme hasnt what it takes, to upgrade hes expression and skillsp, but when he is seen discussing about movie making and screen fighting, he seems so lazy and unvisionary, like he wouldnt own any understanding, what elements, create the experience of viewing an superb fight. Donnie yen said once" its not about what kick one is doing, but about how he does that kick. What kind of emotions and sense of intent, is radiating from movement and kick as a whole". And this is preciesly what is wrong about JCVD. For years, there hasnt seem to be ,any passion of MA, any will and spark to evolve, and its also seem to be same, about a basic acting skills or movie making in general, on JCVDs case. He has to have issues, and it looks like he has worked for years, on a bizz , that he has no love.
I wish this goofs that be sayig that the Quest is stealing that so original real story tornament movie Bloodsport can hear this,Franx Dux and Steven Seagel will make movie Fat Fake Dragon based on life of lieing martial artists
VIKING - - Thanks for posting my comment on this video, its well appreciated. I'm very interested in hearing what Lambert has to say about Seagal vs JC. Although I have an idea on who he would pick. Lol - As far as what Lambert had to say about Dux, I'm not surprised at all that Dux took credit for something he DID NOT do. That's funny, Dux never set foot on The Quest movie set but claimed to the world that he was the movie's stunt coordinator. One of MANY MANY LIES of Frank Dux. Its shameful how someone could lie about so many things but at the same time capitalize monetarily on all of those lies. - Dux is lucky Lambert acted professional and walked out of the luncheon, instead of punching his lights out for such disrespect!
These Steven Lambert Videos are gold! Also, Lambert must be a pretty good actor because although he seems like the nicest nice guy in real life, he came off as a sadistic minion in Timecop.
Hey Master. Steven Lambert is a friend. We play softball together on the Stunt Softball league, you are right he is a wonderfully nice man. To be honest i really did not know he is such a legend. I just like him the moment we met a few years ago. We just clicked. Good human if you ask me.
