My favorite is in his "when the hero is as smart as the villain" when he says "You're smarter than you look." and the hero says "That... that doesn't work here."
Caleb: "I invented a device that can contact the future" Interviewer: "That's cool" Caleb: "But it results in a time loop-" Interviewer: "GET OOOUUUUUUTTTTTTT!!!"
i think thats a different timeline, different universe is like different laws of physics and such. different timeline is just another line of possibilities that can happen though it gets confusing sometimes when talking about both since they're pretty similar in a sense.
@@brochiing4295 it is technically the same universe but its branched now so its like roots emerged from a single time/universe hence multiverse but either one is technically correct.
Neither prankster Caleb nor gullible Caleb have any actual reason to believe the device is gonna explode aside from them telling eachother. This means there are either more Caleb's stuck in the loop who figured out for themselves that the device explodes... or the device exploding is pure coincidence, which is my preferred theory because it's hilarious.
Nah bro. The devices aren't exploding, the timelines are ending. Future him playing the prank on past him differently each time changes how past him reacts, by changing his past the future version deletes his own timeline by erasing the actions that led to it.
Or there are 3 calebs. 1- he decided to talk with the past. The device exploded while talking 2- he was talking with future. Learnt that device is gonna explode, he warned the past(3) 3-he talked with future(2). Future warned him about the explosion but he thought its a joke. He trolled the past (number 2). So it goes like: 1-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3....
It's crazy how many different actors Caleb manages to get on, even his future self is played by another person and he did such a good impression of Caleb
Love how the Caleb at the end started to pick up the time viewer just as the prank call ended, completing the loop of him running away with the bomb when he gets called from the past
Let me explain in detail how is this a loop and how perfectly it fits despite having two different way of communication of warning. So in total there are only 2 types of Caleb: Type 1) One who takes the warning seriously and STARTS running. Type 2) One who figures out that it was a joke and scares the shit out of the respective past Caleb Now both the Calebs convey the warning message in a different way. Type 1) convey by running and holding the box just like at the start of the video. Type 2) fakes the scenario after figuring out it was all a prank just like at the end of the video. So look from the future perspective Caleb then it will make sense. Video starts with the type 1 Caleb running and warning about explosion. With this information, the Caleb who is infront of audience thinks why did he say so, and figures out it was all a prank. So the Caleb in front of audience becomes type 2 Caleb. Now the Caleb in front of audience (protagonist) gets call from past. This time, the Caleb with audience (protagonist) knows it's a prank, so he delivers message in a different tone or version by scaring the shit out of the past Caleb. So the past Caleb genuinely believes the warning. And so the past Caleb becomes type 1 Caleb. And the cycle is reset to start. So in the timeline, Caleb are specified in an alternate fashion. ... 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2(protagonist) 1
There is actually a minor fault in my theory. The deduction made by Type 2 Caleb is a mistake. The device does explode and hence the warning is not a prank. But my theory is still valid. Type 2 Caleb thinks that the warning is a joke (but in reality, it is not), and Type 1 Caleb actually believes in it. So both of them interpreted the warning differently and passed it in their own way.
No because maybe the 3rd Caleb didn't take the device with him and just ran out, so when he gets called by a past 4th Caleb, he doesn't pick the call at all. Caleb 4 doesn't understand why it doesn't go through and thinks it failed, but he's called by Caleb 5, they are both happy about the success of the experiment until it explodes and Caleb 4 dies. Caleb 5 is left confused and then I dunno, maybe he takes the device and starts running like Caleb 1. So it might be a time loop, but not necessarily.
@@lordadamz6036 I also thought that 3rd Caleb would just abandon the device since why the hell would he purposely carry something that'll kill him, but I didn't think that far and just assumed that 3rd Caleb broke the chain and saved any future Calebs. But now that I think about it what you said makes perfect sense. I imagine 4th Caleb would be confused since he couldn't able to call his future self yet his past self (5th Caleb) can. Then he would discuss it during his call, wondering if something might've gone wrong in the future. After a few minutes the device would explode, causing the call to end instantly thus making 5th Caleb panic and believe that something must've gone wrong in the future. Now at some point there'll definitely be a time loop, just it'd not necessarily go back to the 1st Caleb (since they wouldn't know what the cause is without 3rd Caleb passing the information) and the loop point could go different ways depending on how 5th Caleb and future Calebs would react. What I still don't understand is how the 1st Caleb (or any Calebs) 5 minutes in the future knew specifically about the explosion before it happens, since we know the device call ends instantly without showing any explosion that even made 2nd Caleb think it was a prank after it actually happened.
BOY DATS JUST CRAZY But yeah this is probably the funniest one in a while lmao AND THE EDITING TOO...not a lot of crazy stuff but that "screen" was so clean
He just managed to avoid the literal entire paradox of the science behind this technology... this is impressive from not only a comedic standpoint but legitimately from a scientific one too!
There were actually 2 timelines. The time viewer was a timed bomb. Timeline A where Caleb hosts the device and Timeline B where Caleb receives 2 calls from Timeline A in the past and future (that's why he said "it's me again"). Timeline A calls Timeline B 5 minutes in the future just to hear that the device is going to explode, but Timeline A brushes it off as a joke 5 minutes later when Timeline B from the past calls him. Then, he jokingly says that the device is gonna explode, not knowing that his device is going to explode later (shown at the end of the video). This is why Timeline B was panicking to put the bomb in a safer place because he was warned by the pranking Timeline A in the future but gets exploded afterwards, ending the call. The timelines cross each other thus making a 2-timeline loop, but not a single time loop. These are exactly 2 timelines, not infinite nor branched, but both have bad endings. To prove that there were 2 timelines, past Caleb earlier in the video said "*Hey*, future me" while the past Caleb later in the video (getting prank-called) said "*Hello*, future me". Watching the video multiple times makes you realize how clever the plot is. Theory: Afterwards, the Caleb clones will laugh mockingly because they planned this all along. They made it so that using the Time Viewer activates the bomb and actually makes you speak to the other timeline. They wanted this because he was a bad clone.
@@_m6_ The pattern in which the knowledge of the explosion travels through time and universes creates sort of an "infinity symbol" shaped loop in how universe A is the left side, and Universe B is the right side. It starts by coming to the bottom left (representing the first call through time to our Caleb) from the Top right side (representing the alternate, future Caleb), time progresses as he tries to understand what he saw and concludes that it was a prank. Then the right bottom (representing the alternate, past Caleb) links the top right (representing our Caleb about to pull his prank) and the prank transfers the explosion knowledge to the past, alternate Caleb in Universe B thus completing a full cycle of the information. The knowledge ends in each universe with the Calebs dying in the explosions, meaning it only exists in the loop. Each time you watch the video, the loop starts another cycle. I hope that made any amount of sense. It would have been better if I could have drawn it out, cause it's a pretty visual concept.
I cannot understand how high quality of a concept this is. There's two timelines, one that received a slow burn message of the fact that the device will explode and the other that would receive a extremely short and extremely loud message that the device would explode. This is just too good
I thought it was a loop. There was 2 timelines but they both loop into each other. Timeline A Caleb was given a emergency warning by Timeline B Caleb but was brushed off as a joke. Then 5 minutes later Timeline A Caleb was called by Timeline B in the past. Timeline A thinking it was a joke played along, giving the past Timeline B an abrupt warning about the device exploding. Timeline B took the threat seriously and tried to evacuate the bomb to a safer place. Timeline B was then called by Timeline A from the past. Which then looped back to Timeline B Caleb giving his emergency warning. Thus creating a timeline paradox.
For real, Caleb's editing and acting have reached such a peak that I didn't even bat an eye when I saw three different hims in on shot. Perfectly logical in context. Masterful.
CALEBLIVION, a film by Calebristopher Nolan Caleb, a brilliant young physicist, bioengineer, inventor, and former hospice nurse, has created 3 clones of himself and deciphered through his research into the multiverse and spacetime continuum that he and his clones will all inevitably die at a certain point in the distant future due to a mysterious explosion. Initially distressed by this knowledge, he eventually accepts his fate but makes it his goal to ensure that the 4 Calebs are as blissful/calm as possible at the time of their collective demise. He devises a plan and convinces one of his clones to invent a device to be able to communicate with the future. Under an alias, he secretly invites his clone to reveal this device at a scientific conference approximately 5 minutes before his time of death. Caleb sits in the front row of the audience during the presentation, alongside his other two clones. He watches as the clone presenter attempts to demonstrate a video call with his future self only to witness the future clone give a distressed warning before the call abruptly disconnects. Caleb knows that the explosion caused the call to drop, but says nothing about it since he knows the clone will play it off as a joke, allowing the 4 Calebs to remain in a state of joy and jest, oblivious to their destruction until the very end. Mission accomplished.
That's what I commented a year ago! It explains why the one on the screen thinks it will explode and why he says "Oh my gosh it's me again." His prank is why he panicked and picked up the device. Regardless the device does explode for both of them at the 5 minute point. I tried to explain it but some didn't understand or didn't like that idea. It's actually I think my most replied comment on RU-vid.
I imagine that a device like this would grind progress to a halt, as everyone will just be calling the future waiting for inventions, and not developing anything themselves.
But that's the paradox. If they don't make anything nothing will be made in the future for them to copy. That's why I like how this version had two separate timelines.
It's a loop. The first Caleb is running because he now knows the device will explode. He tries to warn past him, so he can get out of there in time, as it's too late now. The second Caleb takes it as a joke and continues the joke. The third Caleb is running because he now knows the device will explode. He tries to warn past him, so he can get out of there in time, as it's too late now. *enter the fourth Caleb* It continues infinitely, switching between the one who thinks it's a joke and the one who knows it'll explode.
I agree, was just about to infer the same. The only other possibility is the Caleb from the past that we saw was in a similarly hectic environment as the first Caleb from the future, BUT took it seriously quicker and therefore had time to either avoid the situation or die shortly after giving another past Caleb enough information to survive or atleast do better. Lol he's an idiot
@@yogami3270 duh. But what I’m saying is the last call ended differently from the others. We literally see him hang up as soon as he said it’ll explode. Which was different from the present Caleb.
as other's have noticed, there's a lot going on here honestly between each Caleb and their reaction. One thinks it's a joke, the other believes it's real and tries to tell the other it's serious, only for him to think it's a joke and prank the next one, who'll again in turn think it's serious... this is a even better time loop than the dude from the super human interviews.
Funny how this creates the ending meme, the Bad Ending being the future Caleb being blown up while trying to escape it's fate...still holding the device about to explode, the Neutral ending, where he thought it was a prank and just passed on to his past self while laughing off, ending up dead too, and the Good Ending, the past Caleb that got apparently saved by the "Prank" of present Caleb warning him in advance about the malfunction.
When he calls his future self the first time they say, "Oh my gosh it's me again!" and at the end when he pranked his past self the past version panicked and picked the device up. My best guess is it goes like this: The one on the screen gets pranked, he panics and picks the device up to toss it somewhere and as he is he gets a call from a past version of himself. "Oh my gosh it's me again!" When the device explodes the past self that saw that believes it's a trick and so when he gets a call from his supposed past he pranks him not knowing it will actually explode. It's a cycle of two different timelines interacting with each other. One where he thinks it's a prank and one where he actually believes him. I probably didn't explain that the best but I hope someone understands it.
I don't get it. The loop only works if the bomb never explodes. The perspective is from the present timeline and it goes: guy calls his future self and gets told a lie that the machine will blow up. 5 minutes pass by and the guy in the present is now 5 mins into the future in the same timeline) gets a called from his past self who is now repeating the same lines 5 minutes ago. The guy in the present (who's 5 minutes into his presentation) decides to continue the sick joke. Continuing the loop If the bomb blew up, then it would've been too late for any Calebs to know the outcome and warn the past Calebs.
It took me a minute to realize that the first person he called is a version of himself who fell for the prank, so basically they are caught in an endless loop of him warning himself in the future who thinks it's a prank who pranks the next him into thinking it's real. That is amazing.
@@wesleywallace4426 The one who took the joke seriously is the first future Caleb we saw, the one who was running. Then the new future Caleb thinks it's all a joke and prank the past Caleb. That Caleb who fell for the joke is, again, the first future Caleb of this video.
bro how is this dude so creative wtf...SNL has like 100 writers and they haven't made a single good anything in like 10 years. if they ever call you, if any main stream anything ever tries to put you on, DO NOT DO IT. you don't need them, they need you bro. you the champ.
Love it. His future self warns his present self because hes scared, and his present self thinks its a joke and continues the "joke", making his past self scared again. The cycle continues...
@@CrackedPropane or he created a loop where his new past self trys to warn himself to take the bomb away to save the crowd because he felt guilty for leaving ( but doesn't get far enough away) creating the first future him timeliness... Yeah all of that..
I watch these in passing now and then and it's just occurred to me that Caleb's acting is actually pretty good. Obviously it gets goofy around the punchline, but he makes a believable "tech billionaire presenting his masterpiece to wealthy investors".
I see what’s going on. The first guy that was panicking and holding the device was the last guy we saw. Caleb didn’t bother talking and just yelled “get out of there! It’s about to explode!” We can see the guy lunge for the decide and panic. Thus creating the first guy. Then when the current Caleb calls from the past, we see him moving with the device, warning about the explosion. He then dies, but the current Caleb then takes that as a joke. He then “continues” the prank, freaking out the next guy, thus, completing the loop. It’s basically the same 3 events happening in a loop.
If you make a time machine and take technology from the future to the present, it essentially guarantees a paradox where the origin of that piece of technology is always from the future, meaning it would have no known creator
timelines don't really make sense to me i got a question how did the first future guy figure out it was going to explode in 5 min and why did the first present guy be completely unaware
@@frigidblaze1future caleb probably believed his future call, while current caleb was not sure, then past caleb believed it fully and on goes the cycle
I see people getting what’s going on. And then I see people disagreeing by trying to predict the first every iteration that started the loop and saying that the loop couldn’t have happened. Stop thing about the very first and just focus on the paradox. It’s just 3 interactions that causes the loop.
@@HafidzMurshidie no it is, timeline a calls timeline b but timeline b warns him of the device blowing up with timeline a thinking its a joke and when b eventually calls him he plays along with the joke but ends up dying after the call, he basically made the warning he ignored its genious

Caleb should really do a skit about a character with a no killing rule, knowing him he could make that concept so deep, and funny without skipping a beat
It should be some crazy ass shit where the villain sets up this trap where the hero has to either kill the villain, or let a shit ton of people die. Since it’s Caleb city, it’s gotta be something crazy like “you have to kill me, or all these THREE HUNDRED ORPHANS will be devoured by HUNGRY LIONS”, and that will be where the bizarro beat comes in (you know the one that plays whenever the crazy shit starts happening in a calebcity skit)
Jokes aside the way this man makes every character feel like a totally different person through editing is god Tier even the audience feels like they aren't even caleb.
Just like in that story written by Friedrich Brown. Some dude destroyed the universe because he sent something 5 minutes to the past, but after he received it he decided to not send it to the past. And the universe was no more.

Thinking what the other Future Caleb said was a joke, he decides to continue the "joke", and tells Past Caleb that the machine is going to explode. Unlike last time though, Past Caleb takes it seriously and panics, grabbing the machine and running away. Future Caleb and the crowd laugh as the machine detonates, killing everyone in the room. Meanwhile, the Past Caleb (now Future Caleb) that's holding on to the machine and running for his life recieves a call from the past. Future Caleb exclaims "OH MY GOSH ITS ME AGAIN" and tells Past Caleb to stop the project or else it's going to explode. Moments after the call ends, the machine detonates, killing Future Caleb.
