Jesus. This is just one of the BEST songs from the 90s - period. Twisted, dark, sick and sorta wrong, crazy timing / beat, a bitch to drum along with - it's got everything. A serious keeper. I thought I was the only weirdo doing it acoustic - good to see the Toadies getting on track :)
I credit this song for showing me alternative rock. Where I lived when I was a kid all they had was a half dozen country stations and some gospel, one oldies station and one classic rock station. That was it. When I got to middle school a new rock channel came out in. One night I was on the back porch doing homework and decided to check it out. Once the commercials were over this was the album version of this song came on. I was like what was that. The next song was Metallica Until it Sleeps followed by Alice In Chains Would. I was a changed man. Never looked back from there.
I always liked the full studio version. This is like an uncut but still studio version. Great view of artists working in music. Great percussion work. Great baseline. Great rhythm guitars. Great ‘lead’ guitar. Great total composition.
*Me, listening to this song for the first time:* I dunno, it's alright I guess. *Me, listening to this song for the second time:* This is actually kind of a banger. *Me, listening to this song for the third time:* I PROMISE YOUUUU I WILL TREAT YOU WELLLLLL *Me, listening to this song for the fourth time:* Wait, this song isn't sweet, it's about some creepy shit. *Me, listening to this song for the fifth time:* I PROMISE YOUUUUU-
i did the mix, and i can confirm. no effects on anything, besides a tiny bit of reverb. this is how it sounded in the room. recorded as separate tracks into pro tools then mixed with a light touch.
IVE ALWAYS LIKED THESE GUYS. Basially for their originality and they didn't have to always sound so pretty. Now i'm sure the lead singer can sing on key way more than most, but i also doubt he was in juliard for his voice. But again, THAT'S WHY I like it. it's different, kin d of crazy and its a banger.
I remember this song from the radio in highschool but never got into them, this is as good as the best nirvana or pixies, I hope they have other songs this good I'm bout to dive in a rabbit hole
But it's not rape and murder. He's telling her he's not going to be a gentleman and he's not going to lie he wants to be with her forever as a vampire but she has to be willing and give it up to him. If she still wants to go that's on her.
Dakota Dodge, dodge him , I swear I wouldn't want him on your bad side! 😂 I love you too baby boy amongst others and you already know that you are my baby boy Blue DIAMONDS and new green eggs and 🐔💩
Not rape and murder, He tells her I'm not gonna lie I'm not gonna be a gentleman behind the boat house. But give it up to me and you'll become a vampire. With dark hair and soft skin forever.
Dear Camera Operator, You had ONE JOB: clearly capture the musicians playing their song, to document it for posterity. Instead, you let a GOD DAMNED MIC STAND completely block the view of half the fretting hand chord forms in the most difficult progression of the song. You couldn't even move three inches to the left??? You UTTERLY FAILED, and as a result, the internet is still flooded with horribly incorrect guitar transcriptions from self-proclaimed "experts". Please, recuse yourself from future video recording sessions. Thank you, Your Friends On The Internet
