I saw The Toadies live in 2015. It was a great concert. They played Possum Kingdom 10 times in a row - blew my mind! When it was finally time for the encore, you'll never guess it... they played Possum kingdom yet again! I could not have been happier. They knew what we wanted and they DELIVERED! It wasn't simply a Possum Kingdom, it was a POSSUM MULTIVERSE.
I think Toadies is one of my favorite bands on the principal that they define local. These guys are so huge in Texas and faithful to their state. It's awesome.
as far as I'm concerned, Possum Kingdom ranks only second to Smells Like Teen Spirit for songs from the 90s that made anyone who was listening at the time go bat shit crazy for a moment or two. I can tell you exactly where I was when I heard both those epic songs. I still dont know what it is about Possum Kingdom that makes every hair on my arm jump up in an instant.
Nevermind sounds very dated. This song still has that sing along & 90s impact. What's the story morning glory by Oasis is still the best start to finish album of the 90s. Possibly Dookie or Pinkerton
It just had the same affect mid way through and this is probably the 100,000th time I've heard this song. I'm in Texas and have seen them live at least 15 times. No one rocks like this--no one.
My son turned me onto the Toadies and I am 71 now. Thanks Joe. I was the only parent who would take the kids to concerts. I saw a lot of great bands. Giant music festivals are the best.

This was the best band to see on the lake. I'll always remember being there. My buddy threw an ounce out the window on the way home bc the cops pulled us over. Yeah we went back to look and never found it.

I think I account for at least 1000 of the hits on this video. This is so good and they still sound great! I love how much fun they seem to be having and how excited they are with the crowd's enthusiasm. I would have loved to have been there.
Possum Kingdom is a lake near Ft. Worth Texas....there was an urban legend that a woman disappeared near or in the lake in the early 1990's........rumor was she was murdered
the verse is in 7/4 for a measure, then two measures of 4/4 (or 1x 8/4, which is a bit awkward to notate - just adding on one extra beat every other measure). The bridge ("Give it up to me...") is in 6/4 for two measures, then two measures of 4/4. The solo/break ("Be my angel...") is a bar of 7/4 then 2 bars of 4/4 again.

I was so excited to see them tonight. I bought my tickets months ago. It wasn't until a few days ago that I learned the tour got postponed. I understand with everything going on but damn... the Pleather e.p. and the Rubberneck album were my shit as a teen. I miss live shows... it's been a little over two years now since I've been to a show.
Wonder if they still enjoy playing this song. This is the most radio friendly song they had and is more widely known. However, local to the Dallas area, Tyler seems to be their biggest hit. Anyhow, great fun to see live. Lasting power since the 90s club scene in Deep Ellum.
I reluctantly confess that I originally thought that this song Possum Kingdom by Toadies was some type of love song when I first heard this song around the time I was around 15 or 16 years old, however I even though I eventually logically and intuitively realized that this song had some different meanings from what I originally guessed, I have to admit that this song is still catchy and amusing to listen to in both the album version and this live version.
