These pedals have a boost module that comes before the distortion, so if your dialed OMG/Cali tone is already distorted and saturated, then the boost section will basically act more as a Gain Boost rather than a volume boost when it's engaged together with the OMG/Cali section. This is because of the natural compression/limiting effect of the distortion module. The situation is different when using the Boost with just the SansAmp module, since the SansAmp usually set for a clean tone, that means it has a lot more headroom (before it clips) and any volume boost that comes before it will affect the overall volume much more.. just like a real clean amp---it will take a lot more volume boost before it goes into saturation and distort/clip the circuit....This is why you feel like your RK5 doesn't boost the OMG section, but it boosts the amp section.

The OMG section is Ritchie Kotzen's OMG Drive pedal that he also designed with Tech21.

Mujin Shin The routing was very basic. The pedal was direct into Pro Tools using a cabinet simulator.

Russ Gaines Gotcha. Thanks! I knew it was room audio, but I didn't know if it was coming from monitors or an amp in the room. I'm considering one for a backup for my Helix if it sounds good direct.
