The Toa Mahri will always be my favorite, they were all so unique and I loved the underwater theme.

my first place is totally the toa marhi because they are all so different from each other and the titans were my favorite titans.

2015 is the first one?! Just because everyone got excited for Bionicle's return doesn't mean it was the best wave. It for sure doesn't deserve the first place.

Something about 2009 felt right to me. I don't know what it was, but looking at pictures and listening to Bye Bye Babylon brings it back. I still can't describe it!

This Vezon and Fenrak set was a masterpiece.

Now I regret not buying the old sets when they were on shelves. They cost almost double the price online now.

I was shocked that 2015 winter wave was number 1 just because I though that nostalgia would take over quality. I'm glad I was proven wrong. I will say, I'm surprised the bohroks' wave (winter 2002 I believe) was not included.

2004 Toa Metru sets were my favorite, I love the design, the non flatness(like 2005 onwards) the last of the gear function, great posability, the darker colors, new yet familiar mask designs, feet, joints, tools...Just everything about them was my favorite. Not to mention 2004's Story was easily my favorite.

The Toa Mahri should have been up there, regardless of their pretty fragile pieces. The Characters were really cool, and it was a unique wave of Toa designs we’d never seen. This was the first wave I REALLY got into, even though I’d been following Bionicle for as long as I remember.

Man, the Paraka sets were so good. Loved the whole theme and vibe. That, the Toa Nuva and the Toa Metru were the best three years in my mind. Had the most memorable parts. Especially the Toa Metru, so much lore and added ideas came in those books

I both agree and disagree with the number 1 choice for a variety of reasons. First, while the set was iconic to the original toa, it did heavily deviate from their appearance and personality. The story was heavily flawed, and the sets were given an undeserved mix of dedication. Tahu given the most dedication while Pohatu and Lewa were given less. It also didn't take them long to screw up the toyline either. I will say it's good, as the ccbs combined with bionicle can be useful. As well as the knowledge that we may see old bionicle pieces given updated molds as the generation 2 merges back into generation 1.

Yep. I think you guys pretty much nailed it. Out of personal opinion, I'd probably replace winter '09 with summer '08, but that's just me.

No Piraka or Toa Mahri. This makes me extremely sad. I will outright say that the Toa Mahri are easily some of my favorites. I can't really say why, but they struck a chord with me. That, and the badass trailer they got.

2008 was definitely my favorite wave. I first became a bionicle fan during 2004 so I didn't knew who Tahu, Kopaka, Lewa, etc were. Though I loved their designs and the Makuta were just amazing! Also it has my favorite set, Toa Ignika.

2003 was awesome. The Rahkshi were my favourites back in the day.

Man I thought you were never gonna mention the 2015, and I'm very glad you did, I think this top is very good, even though the skulls wave should have been somewhere, you put the glatorian, the phantoka. Good stuff, good stuff.

I definitely agree with you on the reasons for #1, and I think that the sets are brilliantly designed. I'm having a bit of trouble getting used to them because they're very different from what I'm used to. My favorite year for sets is 2007, and I can't really decide which wave is better.

I used to love bionicles and i recognise all of these as ones i owned as a kid. I had no idea there was even a fandom about them, let alone to this depth. Als had no idea there was so much lore and so many different waves and names

Why does everyone love the gear system so much? I loathe it intensely. It's way too gimmickey and makes posebility way too difficult and frustrating

I say I'ld have to agree with #1 greatly. the 2015 wave featured gearboxes from 01-05, full possibility from 06-09 (and debatably 04), the mask pop off battle function from 01-03, launchers from 04-09, the vivid colors of 01-03 and 09, the double tool function from 02, 04, and arguably 09, and it really holds up to the "collect the mask" vibe that the entirety of gen 1 had in some aspect, and with most sets having back armor, helps to "complete" the CCBS system. I'm also glad to see the Barraki so high on this list. They were the first BIONICLE sets I saw and (along with Dekar) I built. :)

Agree with your logic on the toa metru, also my favorite wave is easily 2007s winter wave, those barraki sets are just beautiful looking, I wish they'd have made the 2015/16 sets more detailed like that.

Number 1 I agree with. The Nostalgia really hit me when I saw Tahu and the rest of the Toa being in stores, and also LoSS and the protectors look cool too. For the second wave Bionicle 2015, it was actually not bad. Let's hope the new Bionicle lasts for 6 years or more. I really like how they started 2015. Also I remember walking into target to pick up some more Toa and Protectors, and this kid is like, "Where is Hero Factory at?" I said, "Hero Factory isn't here anymore. It has been canceled meaning it won't have anymore sets coming out." He says, "Why is it canceled?" I said, "It was canceled because it wasn't doing well. However, if you see (I point to the new Bionicle sets), this was the line that basically made Hero Factory. It is Bionicle. It lasted for ten years, and it is back." I take my sets, walk away to pay for them and leave, and then I turned around and the kid was staring at me for what I told about Bionicle. Two days later, I go back to the same target and the same kid is there with his parents this time. He asks, "Why did Bionicle last 10 years?" I said, "Because it saved Lego. It also was a very successful line." One of the parents ask me, "Do you know if Hero Factory or whatever it is called will comeback?" I grin, and I looked at him and said, "I don't think it will. But you guys should check out Bionicle. It is a great line." I take the sets I need, and leave to pay. I looked back again, and the kid was holding a Tahu set. That's when I knew he just entered the nostalgia. And that was on a random day, lol.

My favorite sets wave is the 2015 wave. The designs are very good, the story is acceptable but the pieces are the best. Also, I'm 13 and I grew up with the 2015 wave, and being a kid of seven years who receive for gift these incredibles sets, it's a very joy to have it. So sai that I had only Tahu, Kopaka, and the one bigger with two characters and Creation Mask (I don't remember so much, sorry if I'm wrong)

I agree completely with this list, though 2008 would be higher, much higher, for me.

The wave of Piraka/Inika should easily be number one. They were the most popular toy Lego had created at the time, and they had the partnership with the All-American Rejects. They were just so iconic. And the Piraka were just all around beasts. I think the Mahri and Barakki come in a close second place for similar reasons (minus the All-Anerican Rejects of course). Their commercials stuck with people, and being underwater was such a cool new flavor to the story.

I agree with number one TTV but I hate how everybody bashes on CCBS when look at its potential it's amazing and I really enjoy mocing with the system. The Toa don't look the same which is an Improvement and look so slick and well put together just like the stars jk jk. But I really like there design and I should stop talking about them shouldn't I?

Build wise, I'd say I agree with the 2015 sets. They encompassed the gimmick while keeping pose-ability at a max, which is insane. Aesthetic wise though, I'd have to give it to the Barraki.

The Glatorian series had such weak parts..

Seeing the 2015 Toa at number 1 FILLS me with rage. I hate their design, I hate their chests with the stupid symbols, I hate them. It’s like they took my original heroes and turned them into anime-ass power rangers. I hate them so passionately. If I had the power to bring back the Bionicle line, I’d do it right.

The Makuta definitely redeemed the canister sets of '08's Winter Wave. The Toa, despite having more of a resemblance to their set legacy, ultimately failed from a visual perspective because someone thought making them all primarily grey while demoting their actually unique colors to secondary status was a good idea. It's okay though, because the year's Titans were fantastic.

so the Toa Metru beat the Glatorian? 6 dull-collered clones beat 6 epic gladiators and their "protectors" only because of inflation? I understand the Toa Metru were were cheap for kids, but I am forced to disagree.

My brother and I had the titan sets of number 5( summer of 2003). We had the bird and the crab and man oh man were those good sets.

I really do think that the 2015 winter wave are overhated. I challenge you all, tell me why the new sets are an abomination without using the words "Hero Factory." There's so much unused potential with CCBS that Hero Factory never used that BIONICLE is now experimenting with. I think that the change from the Inika build to the HF build is pretty much the same as the change from the Metru to Inika build. It's just change. While I did enjoy the Inika build, I did like the functionality of previous years as well. Now, these new sets have both. It's really the perfect combination.

I would swap out the Gen2 with the Toa Mahri easily. Easily. The blaster they had the unique builds they used. They were probably the most unique Toa sets.

This persuades me to buy the 2015 set wave now!

If you base the quality of a wave on its canister sets, '07's winter wave is by far my favorite. The Barraki were such well-realized sets all the way from their looks to their unique builds. If we're talking about Titans, then '08's Summer wave takes the win. It took the vehicle sets to heights unseen with scale and complexity that positively trashed any other vehicle sets made before them. We also got the incredibly solid and revolutionary new Takanuva set that reinvented the build of humanoid titans all the way until G1's cancelation.

I'm one of those line people who agrees with number one, it seems XD.

My pick for number one would be the Rahkshi, since Lerahk and Panrahk were my first two Bionicle sets. (I got them at a yard sale when i was 4-5 years old)

The Summer 06 Bionicle Sets are my favs. The Toas looked quite cool, The Titan Warriors where some of the best ones & The LEGO System Sets weren't too shaby either...

G2 CCBS is heavily under appreciated. Incredible builds, unique functionality, and gorgeous pieces. What you can do with constraction is unique all to itself. No other toy on earth can do the DIY action figure like CCBS.

The Winter Wave of 2007 is in my opinion, the best Wave because the Barraki were my favorite villains. Even though I was 1 when they came out.

I really see no problem with the CCBS being used for Bionicle, it looks nice and it's satisfying to hear that click when you put on armor or limbs, it's also a happy medium between early Bionicle's gear functions and the possibility of the Inika build. Early G1 Bionicle was made mostly using technic parts for the first few years and that worked fine. CCBS or Hero Factory is to this wave what Throwbots were to the original Bionicle. Just my opinion. I agree mostly with this list, but I would probably have put summer 2007 as my number 2 or 1, but winter 2015 for sure deserves to be on this list.

I still can't get over the Inika masks. They're just too organic to me. Also, the 2015 winter wave definitely was great. I love CCBS, the functions were good (and the arms didn't flail around when you moved the figure), they had great parts, and generally looked better than anything in 2016 (besides maybe Tahu Uniter, Umarak the Hunter, Onua united with Terak, and Uxar). I don't know if it deserves the number one spot on this list, but it definitely belongs here.

I loved hydraxon, the way they designed him looked very badass plus he had aposable fingers without combining with other titan bionicle figures.

That is why I made sure to get all of year one of the Bionicle reboot!

Glatorian Bionicle was my favorite, for nostalgia reasons. It was about when I first got in to Bionicle. My proof: Gresh's mask broke only 3 years ago, when my little brother was playing with him in our yard.

I'll have to wait a bit before I compare 2015 to the other waves. It reminds me of when I first got Toa Metru for my birthday - they're so different to anything else we've seen so far. They do have excellent function and form though. I don't know how anyone could design a re-release for Bionicle better than this! :')

Now, I don't own any CCBS sets, but I cannot say I'm a fan of the appearance at all. Maybe the build is fun, but they look so ugly to me :/ But, even if I disagree, this was an interesting list. I wasn't sure what you were going to pick for any of them, so good job keeping me on my toes :P

Wow. The in the toa ignika wave you didn't even MENTION the piraka. Those guys will always be the most memorable enemies for me. Their canisters were amazing.
