I remember that people hated GOATS so much that people began to harass the voice actor for Brigitte via online and real life (as Brig was broken on release and the core support in the meta) like WTF thinking is that.
Its the internet. People say oh games and reality are different but guess what, the same exact people will harass VAs for a character they hate proving that games do in fact effect reality
Please dude just this once it's my masters promo games please dude please please please. Please man just go GOATS I just want Masters so bad man please.
Trace not gonna lie that was me for my GM promotion game. But too be fair at that level it’s either the enemy team mirrors goats or it’s gg. Lots of free sr cause the enemy team refused to run goats.
This is a real OG one, but frost's shotgun when she came out? probably the most broken thing i've ever seen. thing could one tap to like 30m... they had to rework shotguns half a dozen times afterward.
Honestly I wasn't too surprised about the GOATS meta. When I first started playing OW I noticed that you could literally win without having any dps. They don't do nearly enough damage and are WAY to squishy. Surprised Blizzard didn't see that much earlier.
@@tyraywilkerson3180 Not really, 2-2-2 saved the game tbh. Finally, there were no 3, 4 or even 5 dps insta picks, which sucked for all tank or support players. Now the players, that liked the way comp used to be, have open queue. So in the end, everyone is satisfied. The vast majority of the playerbase that liked role queue can continue playing it. And the minority of players that didn't like role queue can now play open queue.
@@ExeTheEnhanced I have a reason to why I dont like 2/2/2 and its since I was a classic overwatch player like season 3 classic i stopped playing a season before role queue was added so i took along lengthy break from overwatch and when i return i was like I'll try comp and the queue times for dps was and will always be horrendous and I'm an aggressive player on anyclass tank support damage (obviously damage) so I decided to reintroduce my self to the defense category and since there's not one because its dps which saddens me so I have to sit through queue times longer than marriages
When did you started playing ? Brigitta + healing buff overall was the enable of goats. before that it wasn't good at all, you could just play spam comps with pharah and dominate 3-3
Everytime I play Overwatch it feels like actually shooting someone with a gun does nothing. For a game that is supposed to be a fps, the guns seem to tickle while abilities do all the damage.
Golden Vids it was then brig came along. And despite every player the ever played the game that said delete her, they said 2/2/2 is where it’s at and now it’s fucking double shield
@@Pool.bruv23 no, double shield is meta in 4000+ to a stupid extent. brig zen dive is played in tourneys sometimes, but it's not like it's crazy hard meta, since it actually is kinda hard to execute properly. double shield takes literally 0 cooldown management/mechanical skill. a hogtied paraplegic could play either sigma or orisa and still be effective.
@@Nthdegree2 it was, the recoil and headshot count got reduced which made it fun to use again, but nothing compared to the abomination that was the Boltshot.
@@Xfactor12345 Halo 4 was just kind of a bad meta in general TBH... being able to spawn with Plasma Grenades, Plasma Pistols, or the fucking Boltshot was extremely sus
All it took to ruin the game was Blizzard folding to shit players who didn't like dying to dive heroes because they don't understand teamplay and implementing Brigitte.
@@JackXombi overwatch metas are shit, i'll give you that, but Overwatch 2 is actually pretty hyped, even though we got no information about it for months now. We know that there is Overwatch 2.
My favorite part of the SG 553 meta in CS:GO is how the weapon was literally the same from 2014 through 2018, after which it received a price reduction and people finally noticed it was actually a good gun all along, maintaining popularity even after the price went back to the standard 3000. Took the players four years to notice the gun was relevant. I can't get over that hahahaha
@@sieevansetiawan4792 Because they aren't? A good AWPer will always beat the autosniper. Autosnipers are good for spamming for some wallbangs, but aside from that, they just cost too much.
why, imo goats was pretty fun and skill intensive. you did need a very coordinated team to play though. It was way better than bunker or double snipers.
Leroy meta from Tekken 7 the beginning of the year was something as well. The whole roster could be used somewhere before Leroy’s release. After the release, EVO Japan had like a 75% pick rate on him alone as well as a person who was a character loyalist; dropping his character and winning the tourney in the end
Disagree because TESO is a game where skill matter at first. In pvp you can perform realy good with 80% of specs, and the remaining 20% are not especially weak but sometimes their gameplay only works for some type of battles like 1v1 or cyrodil. About PvE it’s the same. You can do every raid achievements with 90% of specs. But player just copy top players who only aim for score pushing that of course will take the more optimized compositions to do so. So yeah some classes tend to be stronger by a little in some aspects depending on the patch but definitely not enough to be called broken. Atm and for almost a year meta has been pretty descent in my opinion.
Yea but at least Meta Knight was fun to watch. Not to mention for the last 2 or so years of Brawl’s lifespan, MK wasn’t played that much in comp. I’d rather sit thru a tournament of MK dittos than a tournament of Bayo dittos
They were talking about the metas that made people want to stop playing, not the ones that cultivated extremely skillful and hype matches and single handedly carried its e-sport's career until people found more skill and hype in Melee.
Meta Knight was probably more OP then Bayo, but Brawl didn't have a thriving competetive community when he was introduced. Hell I think Bayonetta is the reason Ultimates DLC's been alright but not top tier outside of Joker or some really really good terrys.
Agreed. The Shock v. Titans Stage One Finals of Season 2 was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Overwatch I had ever seen. But that's just the top 1% of GOATS play, even at the pro level. Anything short of that was awful.
When Dark Harvest first came out I uninstalled League of Legends until they fixed it. The game I left had 9 players with Dark Harvest and I was died from almost half hp to Brand E. Uninstalled the game immediately and waited for Riot to see some sense.
@@cadenhenderson4322 Legue of Stopwatch was most hillarious. Literally everyone had it and early fights used to go forever just as somebody is about to die they use it then another one uses and another one. I don't think anyone on any champion entered a game without Inspiration tree runes. At least in Thunderlords meta some auto attackers still ran Fervor of Battle.
It's always interesting when guns are discovered to be OP without any buffs. The cz, ump, aug/krieg. I wonder if there are more secretely OP guns we don't play to their full potential. The mp9 is a contender but not in the same league as the other ones.
@@nihonii3341 with X Factor 3 and Dark phoenix, she has so much damage and raw power that she can chip an entire team to death in the matter of seconds, let alone all the infinites she has in that state. You can literally play the game flawlessly up until the fact that you gave the Phoenix player full bar and still lose without touching her.
Does feel bad, but thats the point of MVC3 its made to be broken, many characters have infinites in that game. That broken gameplay is what makes it special/hype, like when justin wong won evo 2014 defeating some of the best players using said characters with a relatively weak team.
@@bigmach6812 oh yeah, honestly some of the most hype moments in the FGC came from people bopping dark phoenix since it seemed like such an inevitable fate. Ageojoe's frank west strat on filipino champ at FRXV had me jumping out of my seat lol.
Hey theScore team, how about a series of stories specifically on esports teams' coaches, not only the ones standing behind the players on drafts/during matches, but also staff/analysts or any other vital members of an org?
Fun fact regarding the broodlord infestor meta in Starcraft 2 : It came back in 2019 and it was even worse than before. It lasted one year, and top Z players pretty much never lost a late game situation with this comp
It would be incredibly easy to make a list of this with just League of Legends metas. Lethality/Assassin meta: Everyone can oneshot you Tank meta: Nothing can kill tanks because their items were busted Ardent meta: ADC/support 2v5 the game juggernaut Meta: What's new Banner of Command meta: Buff up a cannon minion and sit there. Mage Bot Lane (adc's were no longer valid): ADC's no longer did damage, mages replaced them. *Here's the big one you guys missed* : Funnel. BASICALLY: Mid laner plays a support, Jungle plays a carry and gets mid + jungle gold, then watch them scale and win at 30 minutes.
Aaaaaaaah yes, hauntzer's nautilus tanking nexus towers forever without taking any damage or Cho'gat killing you in your fountain when you play solo queue. What a GREAT TIME.
The weird thing about the Sg553 is that its been like that for a long time. Only when the price got reduced and people started you know using it suddenly it became op
That broodlord infestor meta was the most broken thing in SC2. Protoss players even tried building Phoenix's which are air to air specialists but even they got locked down by the fungal growth. Like how is a flying unit gonna get rooted in place?!
TF2: Pyro Phlogistinator + Vaccinator Medic Phlog: deal a measly 300 damage to have guaranteed crits for a couple of seconds Vac: You have 4 very quick loading charges that basically make you invulnerable for a combined 10 seconds, or help you get out of a corner, etc. Basically crits deal 3x the normal damage and with how gimmicky the fire particles and the range of the fire is it is more than triggering to play against. In fact, you can kill a hard counter with 300hp in less than 3 seconds.
That acutally didnt bother me as much as the Six Sam meta, where the entire game was either getting to fight Shi En with dual weild or Lava Golem Weevile spam. I actually dropped the game for months because of it.
As a League player I figured the Juggernaut meta would be here. Just for extra info to show how ridiculous of a change this was: Riot frequently reworks entire champions’ kits to make them more interesting or balanced. For the first time ever, Riot attempted to rework a class of characters all in the same patch. Following this, one of the characters Skarner got the highest Solo play winrate of all time. Darius, (the champion getting pentakills in the clips) basically was able to kill everybody in 2 hits once he had killed 1 person. Mordekaiser was able to summon dragons, and obviously Gangplank was 100% pick/banned. Most of the changes from this update were eventually removed if not nerfed into the ground.
When I got the vex mythoclast from the vault of glass raid in Destiny 1, it was the most broken gun I have ever used in PVP. I had it not long after the raid was released and god, it destroyed, like going 25kills and 0 deaths, multiple games in a row, being able to drop three people with one clip. It was nerfed a couple weeks after that but Jesus, it felt like cheating, it was ridiculous.
I quit before they imimated 2/2/2 and holy shit I was just a plat rank almost diamond the rank is low asf and all u saw every game pahra merci or goats or even both (yes I was a console player)
If it makes you feel any better, number 1 shows the most infamous EVO Grand Finals in history. A competitive community that already struggles to be boradcasted and we get 1 minute of stalling at the biggest stage for that game, competitors being booed for choosing the most obviously broken character. It's a good thing Ultimate came later that year because Sm4sh was dying fast after that display.
@@OsKarMike1306 I've heard of this allot from the smash community. Hbox and those 2 sure the game was unbalanced but the community crossed a line imagen we made fun of every team because they used lion smh
Swarmlords in SC2 I remember being worse than the Broodlord meta. Games took forever, but unless the other player killed the zerg before they could get set up, it was basically just a waiting game for the opponent to run out of resources.
Not that many people pay attention to it but I’d like to highlight for a future version of this video hearthstone and the release of demon hunter which is still a tier 1 deck after 4 rounds of nerfs
Brawl MK was insanely busted, even more than Bayo, but at least he was fun to play and watch (in certain matchups). Bayo straight up sucks the joy out of the game.
It's more everyone else in Brawl was so incredibly bad unless you had an infinite. Metaknight stood out because he was the only character who was an actual platform fighter when everyone else was a fleshy balloon.
I have to laugh that the only play anyone remembers from C9's Balls is this Darius Pentakill, and I immediately think "If he could penta, it was busted."
I wanted to give an honorable mention to when incineroar got intimidate during the pokemon VGC competitive season in 2018, EVERY team had it because it was so good, it served many roles and you could just look at some standings to see how dominant it was. Game freak tried to nerf intimidate during sword and shield but it didn't change much becase it's still top 3 pokemon of all time along side Primal groudon and Kyogre. Also Xerneas during VGC 2016 and his ability to boost itself via Geomancy in just a turn, turning it into a killing machine.
Im a very casual brawlhala player (I play 1 time in a month), but there was a character called jayun who just was so op that Im pretty sure there was a tournament where almost everyone played thsi character. In apex there is also a character that has almost 100% pick in pro play (gibraltar)
I actually enjoyed watching that juggernaut meta. It took two champs who never see pro play in Darius and Morde and gave them their 15 minutes of fame. I wish Darius were more viable in general because I actually think he's pretty fun to watch -- any champ with turn potential is.
Not as competitive but the maximum ape load out for Titans in Destiny 2. Antaeus Wards with either Bastion, Mindbenders Ambition or Hardlight. It got so bad that Antaeus could reflect supers back at enemies and you could 1v3 an enemy team in Comp or Trials.
Damn it really suprised me this video didn't include deadshot from injustice 2. Before they nerfed him he could literally kill you without coming close to you once (in a fighting game btw not an FPS) it was such a boring spammy zoning meta.
i played the game for like 5 years and the good teamfights i need to see multiple times to know what really happened. Nobody can really understand those teamfights with one watch.. too many things happening. If you're new actually every teamfight will look chaotic, specially on pro games, they are very fast.
@@MrGenius2 Mate, speak for yourself, anyone who follow the pro scene can see just about everything that happens during a fight, just because you can't follow a fight does not mean that the people who does it for a living (The casters as an example) can't.
@@MrGenius2 Mostly what the players are looking for are stun hits with specific sfxs, and set dashes. 99% of the animations and sfx are unimportant due to cooldowns being so low. At that point the team with a better engage snowballs super hard because there's so much bust. The commentators are pretty useless since they go for shout casting (probably because they can't explain what happens before the fight is over) League of Legends is very much throwing all your abilities at the wall and hoping they stick. The counter place is that the dashes easy to avoid with and many characters can just I-frame through the stuns. If you can pretend the game is hype enough then you can ignore how artificial the game is at a competitive level.
The most boring meta I saw was the 4v0 meta in LoL pro play. Almost every pro game would start with both team sending 4 players in opposite lanes so they could try to push as fast as possible. They would sometimes get the inhibitor turrets before stopping, but it worked best when they pushed the first cannon minion into the inhib turret so they could get the freeze and totally deny the enemy top laner. Also, one team got a free drake out of that. The most frustrating I played was Runeglaive Ezreal mid.
Singlehandedly the worst character to ever be released. Stupid strong and overloaded kit that required almost no skill to play and introduced one of the worst metas in gaming that lasted for over a year that made so many competitive players quit, including myself. I'd say she deserves all the hate she gets. The people going after the VA though is disgusting, but I guess internet be the internet.
Wdym tons of people play it? The player base has gone down significantly, but if you’re talking about why t500 is low, the SR is deflated and 50 games of open q comp is cancer to get on the leaderboard
@@Oh-lk2qd That's because the Korean player base is more spread across all roles, so they don't have way more dps players than tanks or supports. They never had the issue of 3, 4 or even 5 players insta picking dps and players not wanting to play tank or support.
For Honor: Centurion. Even with his rework you are actively handicapping yourself if you don't play Centurion against another Centurion. Respectable health? Check. Fast attacks? Check. Great mix ups? Check. Unpredictability? Check. The ability to remove 60 % of you're opponents health bar with A single combo they cannot block, parry or dodge? CHECK!
That's just ridiculous, where did you hear this ? Centurion maybe good when you fight newbie or new player, but when you bring him in a pro league, he has a little chance to win I change my main from centurion to other and try shaman and Highlander. Cuz I realized I can't bring him to fight a pro Before his rework, I can easily say he only have a few variation to use except you are good at parry and goes turtling. And after his rework, after some adapting, it's still easy to read his move. But he is still a solid character
@@MoveTea17 Where did i hear it? I experienced it. Unless you are perfect in you're timing you are at an disadvantage agianst him. And remember ping delay too, an attack that normally would be 400 MS can easily go all the down to 300 MS or even 250 if its really bad.
Also at least brawl MK was actually a complex interesting character. He was definitely more OP than bayo imo but he had more counterplay and was more fun to watch
Brawl MK was a really cool character that actually got a lot of people interested in the game. For example M2K didnt like brawl until he played meta knight because he loved the character so much
Maybe a dumb question: If people knew that bayonetta was broken, couldn't they make some sort of agreement where she wasnt allowed to be picked? (Champion/character ban)
I mean high end is relative. I consider my 16GB Ram Nvidia GTX 770 Intel 3k series rig to be fairly middle of the road ~$1000 and I can run every game just fine
2-2-2 needed to be introduced with changes to the tank lineup. To balance off and maintanks. Changes that never came. So we ended up with doubleshield, which I feel is far worse than goats tbh. And it's been going on for an entire year. And just like their attempts to discourage picking a third tank by nerfing tanks made them individually weaker and therefore even more logical to run three instead of two, their nerfs to shield tanks turned these maintanks into offtanks and further solidified that they could only be played in double shield. Meanwhile, they replaced the real offtanks and heroes like DVa and Hog are barely playable all the way down to plat.
Honestly, i think swarm host meta during HOTS was way worse than broodlord infestor. Swarm host literally killed competitive SC2, it was basically just as OP as infestor meta was, but was even less counterable and way more boring.
You forgot to add Hearthstone Patches the Pirate meta. Definitely one of the most broken metals, when aggro shamans and pirate warriors could kill you on turn 4
Starcraft 2 was mentioned but I think they got the wrong meta. There were 2 metas even worse than the Fungal growth + Broodlord meta: 1) The Swarmhost meta. You could build Swarmhosts that were a unit which when burrowed spawned 4 (I think) Locusts each 20 seconds (I think) and they had about the same health as an upgraded Terran Marine - basically free units who are also decently strong and respawn once ever 20 seconds, so when the front line dies, they respawn just in time again. + I think Swarmhosts could move while burrowed underground and had decent health themselves. 2) The Infested Terran meta - again free units, this time from the Infestor, they cost only 25/200 energy, so 1 Infestor could plop down 8 of these and each were as strong as 2 regular marines vs ground units and even stronger vs air due to like +2 or +3 range vs air. Oh yeah, also Infestors can burrow - go under ground, you need detection to see them + move under ground. At least Infestors were squishy.
Yep. But about 1) it was not broken, it was plain boring. It had counterplays. It was just painstakingly long. 2) Infested terran were adressing the issue that Zerg was crap against skytoss. But in late 2017 and early 2018 they have nerfed skytoss, but forgot to balance the zerg out. Actually, there were very few zergs that could play that meta - but they were almost unbeatable when the zerg lived on to the lategame. Actually now the zerg are getting hell by the skytoss again. For me and for 99% people on the scene that arent pros, that the broken meta. But it is not powerful on the pro level so here you go.
