@@koachk5360 I think the traction control used by Tesla is just really advanced. And it has torque vectoring. Many ICEs don’t have the advanced software. Audis are also really good in the rain. It’s also a matter of which tires you’re using.
@@bosewicht2389 Traction control on ICE cars will never be as efficient as on EVs. You have all these mechanical parts that needs to work in harmony while the EV only has motors and a computer.
That’s honestly what’s so amazing about the plaid. People always shit on electric cars for having nothing but instant torque, as in they’re only impressive at lower speeds. But you can see right here how much the plaid keeps pulling away even at 120-150+ mph. That’s what differentiates plaid from other electric cars. I’m excited to see if it can keep this up once they unlock that 200mph top speed
@@AH-lw2bj The previous Model S lost power at the top end. If Tesla had just put the same exact motors with more power, the McLaren would pull on it some at the top and the Plaid would probably get like a 9.4-9.5s quarter mile. It has to do with improvements to the power curve, not to do with peak hp.
@@uraniumcranium2613 LOL No, there aren't. The only car AT ANY PRICE that's faster than a Plaid is another EV, the Rimac Nevera. Which has 2 seats and doesn't even really qualify as a production car. That's it. Nothing else comes close.
@@awo1fman lol difference between fast and quick to 60mph. A koenigsegg is fast, a tesla is not. A Gt3RS is a whole minute faster around Nordschleife. Ive seen 4 seaters do low 7's. The whole cheapest, factory, stock, and 10 other word records mean little to me.
@@uraniumcranium2613 ok smartass, tesla plaid is the quickest production car in the 1/4 other then the rimac that hasn't actually delivered any neveras and there is no production street car you can buy that beats a tesla in 1/4. It maters to the entire world and its official, your opinion has no say in it.
@@awo1fman Actually the Rimac Nevera does qualify as a production car because it officially is down as the fastest production car in the world even though it’s only 150 cars, it’s well over the number needed to qualify which is 50 cars however I think Guinness as accepted as little as 30 cars in the past. Is Tesla making a Model S Plaid Plus? I think the Nevera’s time will be short lived when the Lotus Evija is released which has just started production with 130 being built. The Plaid is still the fastest accelerating family sedan.
When you blow the launch, and then you pull away from a 765 with ease, that's when you know there are levels to this, and the Plaid is on another level
Just drove one the other day…truly amazing and VIOLENT. Borderline shouldn’t even be legal lol. First punch scared me from a 25mph roll, I let off IMMEDIATELY and looked down and was shocked I was going 88mph. Indescribably fast
McLarens are only fast when the tires are very sticky, weather is cool and road surface offers excellent traction. The Plaid on the other hand, doesn't care much about weather, road does not have to be prepped and tires can be stock OEM, not super sticky.... So one car is super fast almost all the time while the other one needs perfect conditions to run really fast and even then, it will still lose!
One is RWD and turbocharged, the other is AWD electric lmao what did you expect if the air quality is shit the performance is gonna be shit on a car that runs on fuel AND air
Well said - well summed up.😎 So I asked myself, why didn't they strapped the Mac with sticky tires...? Let's handicap the Mac a little...can't have a drivers race and Brooks possibly lose fair & square in his channel to possibly a more consistent tree light racer.😉 Perhaps it was explained at beginning of video...I typically go straight to the runs; avoiding all the blah blah blah.😣 However, if not explained, then I will start smelling shenanigans.😇 Who knows, on possibly next video (if it so happens...) a 992 Turbo S with tuning vs this same 765LT under similar conditions, I'm willing to bet the Mac will have sticky tires then. Porsches, like this Tesla are not as finicky with track surfaces. Just sayin'🇺🇸
@@wailfaridi2070 Let's wet the track, then see how shit a 2wd does. In the world it does rain regularly and the air is not always ideal, that is why ICE sucks and 2wd ICE sucks even more.
@@MR9Mouhib Somebody is butthurt maybe? I don't get these arguments like 'It only wins because it has instant torque' like bruh that is one of the feature of the electrice drivetrain 🤷 aka it is a better technology when it comes to performance
Great video as always!!! The plaid is like a cheat code. Just wins every time no matter the weather conditions. No prep. Just smash the gas and hold on!!
Yes true but no skill involved. A kid could go down the track and run 9.2’s. While it’s the future I think it’s sad. The sport and skill part of racing is out the door with electric cars drag racing. Road racing a different story obviously.
No prep? Not quite. You have to turn on drag mode and let it prep the batteries still, similar to the old P100D. But other than that, absolutely - super easy to consistently hit 9 sec ET's, which is crazy.
What is interesting is that the Tesla is still pulling away. Previous Tesla’s ran out of juice after the eight mile - not this latest version, it keeps pulling.
I thought the same thing. Years ago when Teslas were beating muscle cars in elapsed time, they were losing in trap speed. These are a different and maybe a bit scary breed of EVs. Imagine if it had a second gear..
@@rkane2643 I love the 765 , it’s a world class super car that’s a rocket. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t appreciate and marvel at how far we’ve come with electric cars and that a almost 5000 pound sedan is this fast. Don’t worry my brother no one‘s going to think any less of the 765.
Jimmy cuts a better tree, so they probably figured put him in the 765 to give it the best chance possible. Too bad the weather has to play a factor, but that's what you deal with here in south Florida.
peak horspower on the dyno is misleading, that is why tesla with inferiour power/weight ratio wins. even if it was not a hot weather, and even if the 765LT had all wheel drive, the problem remains: ICE engines need specific RPM to deliver the peak, but in reality the RPM flactuates. another problem is the tiny delays between gears, it adds up. in addition, the Mclaren is probably optimised for downforce, and that creates drag when the speed is high, problem the sedan doesn't have
Only at the last race there was real boost build in the 765 with long enough launch control. You can notice at the spinning tires. As Brooks already showed, you have to build boost for some seconds to get full power! Not that the 765 would have won, but with the right and warm tires it makes a huge difference!
Race 2 and 3 you spotted the McLaren a huge lead as someone in the background of the audio clearly said, and Plaid still drove by. Time for McLaren to make an EV .
This race has been recorded a long time ago, but I'm wondering why Brooks hasn't released until now. I can't wait for the next vids, SF90 vs 765 vs Plaid the fastest 3 production cars in the world.
I'm sure he releases his content very strategically since if he released all the races back to back that everyone wants to watch then his views won't be as consistent I like that we don't get content dumped on us right away keeps us waiting 😀
@@drslappahoe5459 Actually, it's not good. He had several recorded videos, yet he let his channel with no new videos for weeks. That's not good at all. It hurts his RU-vid Algorithm. Look it up. If he uploads 10 times a month consistently, the RU-vid Algorithm will do him much better like much better.
Brooks, I don't think Jimmy put the 765LT in launch mode. And if he did, he didn't launch the car effectively. Do you realize that you achieved better times in the 765LT out on the streets, than what Jimmy did here? And the DA was far from perfect when you tested the McLaren on the streets. You should've have driven the 765LT and let Jimmy drive the Model S Plaid.
Tesla will do a software update and make the plaid faster. They can add one more motor to next version and/or make the roadster quad motor. ICE days are simply over.
@@greenscreenmachine6405 a recent studdy was done on tinder, guys and girls posting profile pics with teslas had 30% higher rate of interest compared to the next audi tied with bmw
Hopefully they'll be able to last longer than 80,000 miles. Right now if you calculate in battery replacement costs it's cheaper to drive a ICE vehicle getting 14 mpg. That's not including the original higher sticker price of an EV..
Seeing so many plaid videos and people’s reactions to it, I know Tesla gonna take their time before releasing Roadster. But when they do, every gas car out there is fucked.
Also the new Rimac will enter production soon. At almost 2x Plaid's power, every gas car will truly be forever fucked. This is the new beginning. Nevera vs Roadstaer is going to be the duel to watch for. Maybe Porsche has a chance to catch up in a few years?
@@tailgatetommy1571 If they can survive the changeover to electric, it's not unlikely they can eventually catch and surpass Tesla. Right now, no on the planet knows more about EVs than Tesla, but I don't think Tesla's plans are supercars. Tesla will have and maintain its advantage for some time, but all things end at some point.
Well, every car would need perfect conditions in order to produce maximum results. But, regarding the 765LT's performance here, I believe (to the most part) the problem was driver skills. I don't believe Jimmy launched the car as effective as it were possible during those races. We've already seen what Brooks has done in his 765LT on the same drag strip. He even recorded quicker times with his daughter in the passenger seat, than Jimmy did here. Brooks also recorded quicker times out on the road. Think of that, for a second.
@@Trumppower Racetrack is where 765 Lt truly shines but not everyone is capable of driving in a racetrack And the Autobahn exists only in Germany Let's just face it most of the time you'll spend driving is in the streets where Tesla is better
Thanks for planning to do a re-match! Although I don't quite think the results would be different, 765 sure was running a lot slower than it should have been (144 is 720S's kind of speed)
The maclaren like most ice, is just sensitive to the road, climate conditions, humidity etc because of a combustion engine. Aside from more wear and lessening performance every time you drive it, it is just an inferior and weak technology. You have to give the ice vehicle the best conditions possible because it is just a weak and sensitive bit*h vehicle.
Omg 9.2! Family sedan, consistently having perfect power and timing. Crazy crazy days when a silent sedan pulls up to a rumbling muscle car with wheelie bars and gets whooped lol
Maybe do it inside in a climate controlled environment so that the $240k more 2 seater Mclaren has a chance to keep up with the 5 seater electric sedan.
@@XNazgulXX you can do it in your neighborhood street all u need is 1/4 mile mist street longer than that make sure it's clear no body there and you can do it in real life situations which is the street and the highway will be easier.
Race 2 and 3 he didn't even look at the light, he waited until he saw the McLaren leave and then took off. One of the beautiful things about electric.... instant torque. No transbrake, no spooling up of a turbo...
And around town, it's the same. It's like driving a gas engine in a lower gear to keep the revs up all the time in case you need instant power. At any speed, hitting the right pedal shoves you back in the seat - no downshifting, no rev building, no turbo lag..
@@rockefelleragent1357 dunno, maybe…. but Brooks consistently gets better times than his pals…. Even when they switch cars on the strip on the same day…. Maybe he just ‘knows’ his cars better….

Tesla so crazy fast ❤️❤️⚡⚡ You can see it pulling away ALL THE WAY, so the pulling-away-differential-speed is NOT dropping. That means no catching up for the MCLarren, even at even higher speeds 😂
