Glad to see the SCX6 on the list. We took a 5 year break to do some other stuff and I regretfully sold everything. This was the one to get us back into it. Definitely helps it has a JL body lol!!! Can't wait to see what the aftermarket does.
Great video! Companies did great this year, I feel like they all were more focused on scaleness than past years… and vanquish came out with something affordable😂
The SCX6 it pretty sweet. Still unsure if it would be too large for hiking trails here in Vermont. Most people absolutely love seeing the 10th scales - but I'd probably need to register the 6th with the DMV to drive on public trail-ways. Thanks for crushing it this year!
I also have vanguish ultra, but Phoenix's transmission is crazy. I think vanguish Phoenix is the best body of the year. Transmission is really the best. Your video is amazing, too.
I think that you have compiled a great list of Rc vehicles for 2021 can’t wait to get my hands on the Phoenix for next year and take all the time I want to build it . I look forward to seeing more great content thanks for a fantastic year of builds.
The Phoenix was well deserving of the No. 1 spot. On the topic of other variants for the SCX6, a 6th scale Honcho or Cherokee would really make me consider buying one.
I am hoping Traxxas comes out with a 1/6 at a reasonable price and steals Axials lunch causing a considerable price drop. There is way too much competition in the 1100$ price range.
I'm glad the trx4 was on here. Own the same one( along with several other trucks k.. extremely versatile truck, and with the light kit, its even better. Merry Christmas, Matt!
yup really hope the 1/6 scale becomes a thing...parts, bodies. etc. also the bronco without body posts looks really nice..I would love to see postless bodies become the norm
Biggest letdown for 21 was the lack of kits, I won't buy an RTR, unless I plan on doing a complete kitbash for a specific project. And owning 3 VS4'S, I was kinda disappointed with, and sold, my Phoenix. Love my 24's though, and was building a hyperscale Jeep Honcho pick up as you were building your Cab Forward. Oh, have you seen the RC4WD stamped steel wagon wheel beedlocks? For a scale look, they are the exact wheel found on 70% of the old 4X4's we drive out in the woods here in the Pacific Northwest. Merry happy Day, love your vids. Have fun. 🙂
Hey Matt, I decided to let this sucker simmer for over a year. I finally consumed this fine wine this morning and yep, it’s a great list - I have to agree with your picks! 👍✌️
I agree with your choice's. We are certainly living a good moment in RC. If you had gotten the 4WS Capra maybe the decision process would have been more challenging. Hey man Merry Christmas and lets look forward to a better 2022.
I agree with every one of those choices. I may not be the biggest omg fan of the scx6... but that may be because of jealousy and the price combined hahaha. I admit I want one. Next on my list for the next build is a pheonix, but I do admit a baja style 10.3 bronco build would be fun to. Anywho man. You have a wonderful Christmas eve. If I feel brave enough (kidding)... I'll dm you a merry Christmas haha. 😎👍👍
Still haven't been able to drive my knightrunner 😒 been waiting for a backordered esc because mine was defective since end of November...but Team Associated was great about getting things trouble shot quickly and the part at least backordered for me. Tempted to just order a Hobbywing 1080 to upgrade it and get it running.
Merry Christmas Matt. Love your videos. Always tons of info and amazing filming. You are so talented when it comes to paint and the details. Your rigs always look the best. Nice to see 3 of my rc’s on your list. My favorite is my Phoenix. 2nd is my Scx6, except for the crap body. Can’t wait to see what 2022 will have for us.
A lot of great trail trucks came out this year! I'm a bit of a hard body snob but the Traxxas 2021 Bronco and the Knight Runner really nailed it, Element get's the scale points though! BTW, RC4WD teased a truck to be announced on the 27th!
Its been a great year for crawlers! Several other worthy releases but I think you nailed it! 👍 The Phoenix is certainly the most notable new kit! Merry Christmas, have a great holiday! 🎅
@@scalebuildersguild well seems like it'll be a typical Aussie Christmas around 30c. Hopefully not too humid today. Already got croissants ham and cheese ready for breakfast, and prawns for dinner haha and I made rumballs for part of desert . Typical Aus shiz for my family.
It's very detailed yes, but the one difference between it, and the rest on this list, is that these can all perform at a high level outdoors. The Type 82 is more of a model that happens to be RC. I have a full review coming out next week.
Yeah I like that Phoenix to something I’m working on won’t be till summer. Yeah 2021 was great for RC ‘s Heck yeah 2022 we are waiting on you appreciate you sharing my friend again merry Christmas to you and the family
Out of all the r/c's I personally picked up this season the TRX-4 is easily the most diverse and capable. That's a biased thing but it's true! Would love the try an scx10iii but next on my list is a baja rey. Perhaps the super? Idk I like fast and my environment aids the driving style. Oh oh oh also I think i'm gonna have to get one of them new release rc4wd tf2's! Merry Christmas ya'll!
It has been a great year for RC. There has been nearly nothing good to come from the Big C. One thing, I believe, is people have re-connected with their families. They have been outside in the yard more, more creativity in general, completed many unfinished home projects. And started new ones. The best part is we have done it together. People reconnecting with their hobbies has fueled RC this past year, and new competition among the companies involved in RC, has flourished as well. So maybe something good, after all.
I was looking forward to building my Phoenix over the Christmas period, but due to delivery issues I'm going to have to wait a few more weeks.... bummer.... Happy Christmas from Bavaria.
I understand that all kits have their faults, but I find it interesting that you talked so highly of the Phoenix despite there being a decent amount of bad reviews of the kit so far, particularly the warped plastics, junk shocks & terrible physical copy of the manual.
Not bad but you can't please everyone 😂 Picking the Phoenix as #1 was shocking. Despite all of it's many issues the selectable overdrive had my attention. Had because after watching several tests with it crawling the same line in or out it did nothing much if anything for the performance of getting over the obstacles. I would throw out the Axial Bronco for the Capra 4WS. I've had so much fun with this extremely capable buggy. 3rd while the Element Toyota might look cool as a trailing rig that IFS doesn't work for the down and dirty. I'd have to pick their Etco Not for looks but better rock crawling performance. Just my 2 cents and Merry Christmas guys. 🎅
What tests are you speaking of? OD is most definitely a feature that I'd recommend. It adds a capability that when used properly is definitely a benefit. Capra 4WS is definitely a great crawler, but I was hoping for a revision to the transmission to make it a much more versatile vehicle, so for me, I left it off the list! Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas Matt that was great list, I can't wait to see the straight axle's Vanquish comes out with for the Phoenix in January Im excited, especially to be able to buy them separately for custom builds....Be Safe have a wonderful Christmas, God Bless.... PS. what yr was the Gladiator released, I own one but can't remember, 2020 or 21?
Thanks for watching! The Gladiator came out in 2020, but the two years have kind of melded into one, so I don't blame you for not remembering. Merry Christmas to you!
I must agree with others, I got an absolute lemon Vanquish Phoenix kit. Every issue others are posting, my kit has. My 1st Vanquish and my last. With all the hype, I expected so much more. I have the Element Knightrider and the Axial Early Bronco, super RTR's!
4 very leaky shocks, 1 portal with everything tightened up moves about a half inch either way, tyranny mount warped, and installing a "tight" rear link, the plastic snapped right off. Assembly of wheels was very difficult but doable, after I reamed out every screw hole. So far only the dig works, need to get back into the tyranny. The quality just isn't there as I was expecting. Love the body, axles, frame and steering set up, jury is still out on the transmission. Sorry Vanquish fans, but I just happened to get a lemon 🍋!
@@fredrieger5226 it does sound like you got a lemon. Did you follow my build series? My shocks haven’t leaked a drop since day one thanks to the green slime.
@@scalebuildersguild yes I did, I've been building shocks for a long time. Some of the earlier Axial ones were leaders but those were replaced over time. On the Vanquish I've put in a set of Dessert Lizards that I'm still tuning.
love all these trucks but gotta say I have no interest in the Axial SCX10III Early Bronco and I have all their cars in some cases more than one or two or three or well you get the idea anyway phoenix is at the top for me for now that is if I can just get it finished
I don't own a single one of those my list would have been element knight runner the ecto gmade buffalo pickup truck scx10.3 bronco and trx4 bronco the scx6 too large for me and the phoniex is too over priced when compared too other kits
@@danielkonrad1444 how's the price right when compared to a 10.3 it's a 100 dollar more and that has a license body and as for the selectable overdrive it's basically just a two speed that's been designed to be only on the front output instead of front and rear output so from a cost standpoint theres no difference between it and a 10.3 transmission so to me it's overpriced 100 dollars more without a licensed body also can't claim quality just look online to how many people has had the clicking sound from the transmission also seen bunch talk about how the front c hub breaks but if u think it's worth it go for it just don't say it's priced right.
really .........satiate ???? KnightRunner while scale is in no way shape or form an accountable crawler . Trail rig yeah .......sure , You have it in top 5 CRAWLERS ????
