Just picked up a Bataleon Carver from your many recommendations. Hoping my dependence on Magnatraction doesn’t eff with my experience 😂. Looking for that groomer destroyer and the Carver looks the part. Almost got the Pentaquark, but that was a decent chunk more expensive than I could cave for.

how does the gremilin compare to those boards? I rode it last season on a 152 one and it held edge amazingly well. just not so great on pow (probably because undersized it a bit)

Peace Seeker has more power out of it, it's stiffer, has a more aggressive sidecut coupled with its camber profile for laying it over.

Thanks to you I picked up the Ride Peace Seeker! (In a 151cm). I’ve been contemplating if I bought the right size in this board though. I usually ride a twin tip free ride 162cm. I’m 5’10” 190lbs with a size 8.5 (US) boot. I’m from the northeast and Loon, Jay Peak, Killington, and Mount Snow are my go to mountains. I mainly ride the glades weather permitting, but am usually confined to the corduroy and ice being that it’s the north east. Couldn’t help but wonder if maybe the 147 would be a better option? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Love the channel btw.

Commissioner is more of an all out missile. The Peace Seeker is more your trench digger lay it over and see what happens board. You want speed, Commissioner all day.

Great review. I came across bunch of videos and didn't really find a good comparison of classic carving boards. A good candidates could be: Gray Desperado Ti Type R, Nobile N8, F2 Eliminator, Kessler X-Carve, perhaps something from Donek. Could be a good video for top 5 in 2023/2024.

Hi!! Thank you the video. I would like testin new carving board this season. I have Jones UME 158, I 'm 171 lbs and 164 cm. What do you think Ride Peace Seeker vs Pentaquark or Niedecker Blade? The UME very lovely carving for me but little long, and don' have good maneuverability at low speed. I see the Ride, and very good, if shorter is enough, but don't find anywhere the edges data (effective edge etc...) I 'm little sceptical this very short lenght... 🤔 The UME has great hold on icy condition, what do you think from Ride? The Pentaquark has very long edges, I' m sure is very good for carving, but little expensive. 😬 The Niedecker Blade or Blade + not expensive but, don't know is better than the UME... 😬 Very difficult... 😅😅😅

What made you pick the pencil over the CR? Do you recall if you had positive stance on the peace seeker? I'm looking for a carving focused board I can occasionally take off the groomer. Something that can turn quick but also euro carve like Benedict. I'm debating between the CR, Pencil and Peace seeker. Thoughts?

At 150lbs I’m right in the sweet spot for the 142, but that seems absurdly small for someone who rides a 156 berzerker and 148 warpig. Should I bump up to the 147 or stay true to the manufacturers specs?

Avran, what bindings from Rome and Union would pair with the Ultra Mind Expander? I'm looking at that instead of the Stratos for ripping the ice coast 🤘🏼🤙🏼

First of all, I don't own a Jones, but I love their graphics. For bindings, I am most familiar with Union. And I think you should look at the Union Force and above. For the Rome bindings, probably the Katana and above. Also, I have some Karakoram Continuum bindings. They may be too flexible for your UME, and some people have not had good luck with the quality, but I like them and they compare favorably to my Union Strata bindings.

Wow your name is Avran too, strange. Rome you go with the Katana if you want it a little more playful otherwise the DOD is solid for more power laterally, if you want the stiff charger you go with the Cleaver. To throw a wildcard in on you check out the Bataleon Astro full or asym might be something there for you. With Union don't waste your time on the Forces that binding is meh. Strata for more play or you go to the Ultra for a little more response in the straps but play underfoot, otherwise slap an Atlas for hard charging or if you want lightweight you go with the Falcor.

Dude you should try out the OES FR and OES TT boards. It was true mindblowing experience after owning a Bataleon Carver and Jones Stratos. TT is a true twin that carves SO MUCH better than bataleon carver, and you still can flat-freestyle it. And FR is a fucking train on a rails. And their stiffness - if you think 10 is too much - you should NEVER buy an H version of OES board. They are crazy. IDK if you can buy it in your supermarket, i was tested it on a resort, and immediately ordered one from that guy

Definitely check out The Gun, The Donuts, and the Ultralight from Nidecker as well. All amazing carving boards. I own the first two and would really love to ride the Ultralight one day. I own the 161cm Gun from I believe 2018 and it's one of my favorite boards for carving and pow.

@@SheldonKreger Tracer definitely looks sicks as well! I love The Gun because I didn't think it would be as versatile as it is. It does everything pow, trees, groomers, and even moguls. That was a huge surprise for me with that board. I am not a fan of the new 174 only option or the waist width. I honestly would love to have the 174 but in the older models with the actual waist width difference going higher in size. I believe this new 174 has the same waist width as my 161. Which is not the worst thing in the world. I have the smallest amount of boot out on really deep carves, but with it being more narrow it handles crud and bumpy uneven terrain a lot better. The trade off is worth it. I have a lot of boards and my gun is always at the top of the list when I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to take for that day.

Donek knapton is next level. Playfully freestyle and lays gnarly trenches. 150 30.5waist, 10m sidecut flex level 8. Love it. Also have a korua dart which is fun and a stranda bowlrider which craves bigger mountains.

Hello angry, What board would be suitable for learning to carve as an intermediate rider that almost (but not really) has the basics down and want to progres towards the really deep carves? Im 75kg bootsize 45. Besides carving I also lean towards butter tricks and some basic freestyle. Is transition finder a good pick? Or is that too Advanced for my current state you reckon?

Or am I overseeing something here? I feel as if the combination of my weight and footlenght forces me towards volume shifted carving boards.

Do you mount your board at the middle or at the inserts?

@@AngrySnowboarder well yes obviously, but nidecker themself clasify the board as Large, not as Wide. And most brands advise a minimum of 261 waist width for my bootsize; with an average side cut in mind giving you the maximum overhang at the inserts for riding without booting out. What would you think be the maximum overhang in mm's for carving without dying? Then I can just calculate it and make the right choise.

OK now here's your homework you're going to go to the Nidecker website, you're going to click on the size details tab on the Thruster, you're going to go look at the width at inserts section and look at the number. Gee what does that say?

@@krazatos I like it a lot its my hard snow board. Great for going fast, huge layed out carves, hitting big jumps. It doesnt float very well in powder, not very forgiving, you gotta ride it precise. Its an old school camber board. Its not a 1 board for everything type but fits nicely at one end of a quiver of 3; pow board, everyday driver, this for charging hard snow.

The Finest is a soft board to begin with and has a C2 camber profile. It's designed to be super playful and not as precise.

Didn't ride the Nobile specific branded stuff but they used to have another brand they did that had some crazy tech and I'm brain farting the name, but rode those and they were sick.

Pencil is pretty solid, not the Pencil Plus, just the regular. You could do the Dart, maybe a Transition Finder.

I am looking for a resort carver which can handle some speed and come along for some side hits. 90% groomers and some pow. I am torn beteen the Peace Seeker, Korua Cafe Racer or Nidecker Mosquito. I'm riding in Laax for almost 30 years now. So not tobbad of a rider. I am on a Warpig right now but want something a bit more responsive. Any advice of the Peace Seeker brings me to Nirvana or rather one of the other two?

Leaves a bit more to be desired if you're using it as an all mountain freestyle board, but for freeride you just sacrifice a bit of switch riding due to the setback and shaping.

@@AngrySnowboarder sure, we can measure our dicks if you want... but your taste in boards with small diameter side cuts is apparent. I even bought a board because your review put it over the top. It was the worst board I have ever owned. I have tried several batelons, and they were fun soft snow boards that could not hold a decent edge. You get minimal tip and tail edge contact with the 3d base. to carve, or even get a good edge contact, you need huge board angulation. fun park board though. If you need help reviewing boards, let me know :)

I Don't understand the donek hate. Hate on hardboots fine whatever I agree. But I grabbed a donek nomad on Cyber Monday a few years ago for under 200 bucks. It was a demo board with a fresh base grind with no damage anywhere. From your list I've ridden the mind expander and a few korua boards.. They're just not in the same league as the donek at all. Nothing has ever given me that level of edge control. Back up the hate with some facts because you sound more like the whiney snowboarder then the angry snowboarder. I'd as soon take advice from a buckhouse goggle review if you aren't going actually tell me why donek is such a bad brand.

You bought a board that they shoved 2 gallons of epoxy in it. Built in a dirty factory. Using materials that are old. Their geometries are whack and designed for a specific niche and that's it and they get offended when any company that mass produces builds a board that rides better. They extol the belief that you have to have a board as wide as your front door or you will boot out with a size 8 boot. They can't take a joke. They're over priced turds. You can take advice from anyone you want that's your choice. No one is forcing you to be here.

I’ve never heard these other complaints you just listed in a video. Maybe that’s on me but I know I’ve heard the hardboot complaint from you umpteen times. And weird dimensions from a company that lets you pick literally everything? Really?

A couple of things that irk me about the brand: The owner has to resort to straw man fallacies to push his methodology. Nobody in the industry is saying that 'wide boards suck'. They're simply pointing out that there's a pretty big riding tradeoff and that many riders prefer a narrower setup that their measurements would recommend. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZtsIM88T6A0.html Also their brand ambassador Ryan Knapton puts out some shockingly stupid advice to beginners about board sizing and technique. There was one video he put out last year where he uses action figures to demonstrate the difference between sliding and carved turns and the info he put out there isn't even in the ballpark of being correct or at all helpful As far as I'm concerned every time a beginner buys a 30.5cm wide Donek a baby kitten dies.

Why do I have to dedicate half a video for an off handed injoke just so you can feel validated and informed? The only reason you're commenting is because you bought one and it bothers you that I think the company makes a shit product. In your view all I do is make hardboot references, when in fact I've talked about their brands poster child, his bad advice, shit beliefs, their inability to actually make a product worth a damn, their lack of technological advancement, the owner huffing too much epoxy fumes, and more. You just choose to fixate on one thing because it suits your narrative. I can pick literally anything from them? Strange it's limited to their molds, their construction methods, and their materials. They use Durasurf which is a horribly inferior base material compared to Isosport. Durasurf and Crown Plastics have so many imperfections on anything and even their black bases aren't as good. They aren't making new cassettes per individual so you're stuck using what they have. Argue with me all you want but a new cassette isn't cheap. Their stupid "build a custom" thing gives some whack ass size options based off the criteria I gave them. At the end of the day you drank their brand koolaid and it shows.

See I like a good reasoned argument. I’m absolutely no Donek fanboy and I don’t go out of my way to learn all of a brands politics. My nomad was picked up for a steal, has very reasonable dimensions (28 cm waist) and IMO (to reiterate, MY OPINION) rides better than any Jones or Korua shapes I’ve demoed. I just think angry can do a better job of telling me why he doesn’t like something considering his channel is there to review snowboards. Even if I don’t agree with him, he puts in the hours and tests more snowboards than me. He’s always expecting more out of new snowboards so there shouldn’t be an issue with me wanting more out of his review
