#1 is so crucial. As a weekend warrior I try to max out the little time I do get on the hill... but I realized earlier this season that if I keep pushing past the point of having fun, that's when I get hurt or feel burned out. Quality over quantity.

Hit the squat rack gentlemen, speaking from experience your legs feeling like noodles on day 1 is a definite vibe kill
@KurtG85
@KurtG85 2 года назад
Never squat. One slip up on form and your back is fucked for life. Happens constantly. Do leg press instead. Light weight, 12 reps. Still easy to destroy your body if you don't have proper form. Most importantly keep your feet directly over your knees. If your feet are wider your knees will buckle and tear everything.

#4 is for real. I know the price makes buying insoles a tough pill to swallow. They always seem WAY overpriced. But it’s worth it. I ride vans hi std, so my inserts cost nearly as much as my boot. 🙃 #1 - My type 5 separated shoulder agrees. 😖👍

thanks for the air bnb tip, I just moved to big bear because I had really bad asthma by the coast that always seems to be btter in the mountains. My Neighborhood is like 85 percent air bnbs, I could poach a hot tub pretty much any night. I didn't come in driving prices up either, rented a house that was kinda trashed by the last occupants, it was known as the hoarer house in the neighborhood. And i'll be subletting a couple rooms in my place to local residents once i'm done furnishing it and fixing it up. The locals already seem to like me just for the fact they don't have to look at piles of garbage and old junk on the balcony and back porch.

I’ve struggled with foot pain from hard riding and previous arch injury. Super feet are great but snowboarding specific insert are amazing.

Lots of good calls....calling it early in the day if need be. Diet too...not just 'less cheeseburgers' but good things like oily fish, lots of veg, hydration aaaaand enough quality sleep.

Honorable Mention: Boot Dryers and Pads. -Avoid cold and moist boots at all costs...it's a luxury that's well worth it for long seasons. Padding up from the hips down will definitely keep you on-snow longer
@AngrySnowboarder

OK what the fuck kind of shit are you people running into that you need hockey pads? 25 years of riding and I can think of one instance where pads would have helped me. Are you people just riding straight into shit?
@zoen

Where in the world are you riding that you need to wear pads all season long? Are you part of some Redbull snowboard cross or something?

Fine, I give up…snowboard pads are for kooks. I ride into so much shit, you might as well call me Biff Tannen.

Great advice, the man's a lifesaver! Thank you for preaching this, did this for last season and it 100% helped me get more/ longer days in.

Similar to number 1, knowing when to call it a day. When you have been running laps all day, your legs each feel 20 pounds heavier than an hour ago, getting on and off the lift is feeling like work, and your side-to-side just isn't as quick as it ought to be... For God's sake, when the voice says, "Just one more run." Don't (always) listen! Each time that I have taken a season-shortening injury has been when I knew it was time to hit the lodge or head home, but instead decided to get just "one more run." It will probably happen again, but at least I have warned myself.

I hear number one...Our peak lift was down for 2-3 months this season so I started splitting the top half, which led to exploring the saddle and valley to the north and south off the peak...I'm not a tourer. My body, specifically knees were DONE by the start of April. I'm pretty sure I had a minor meniscus tear and I'm glad I cut it short. Getting on the MTB now even though there's corn to be had...

TheraGun for sure. Careful using it on the neck though, I've heard cases where it's done more damage than good since the impacts on your neck vertabrae can cause issues
