I'm so happy to hear you say to use facial cleanser as a handsoap! I've been doing this to get rid of all the cleansers I didn't like for my face😉It goes well in most soap pumps😁 (retired X-ray tech. Whose hands took a beating) Have a beautiful Christmas 🎄 ❤️💚
I've been using vaseline on my lips since I was very little. My siblings used to make fun of me but my lips would get so dry they'd crack and bleed during the night. I was glad to find out I've been doing good for my lips all these years (and rarely have an issue with my lips anymore)
I love the way look today! The lip colour you are wearing is so attractive and so is the blush applied to the tops of your cheekbones. Your hair is so healthy and voluminous.
For Southern California, the worst winter weather comes in the form of Santa Ana winds, which usually show up a day or two after rain. So my rosacea-moody face goes from too humid, with sinuses that run - which gives me a red nose - to desert dryness and weeping eyes from dust blowing. I try to address skin care on the assumption that things will soon return to "normalish," and I try not to make big changes from season to season. Always a mineral-only SPF 50 on the face and neck; always a mild, non-fragranced cleanser and moisturizing routine. One thing that helps with hard water's effects on my face is a spritzing of distilled water on my face after washing and gently blotting with a smooth soft towel. Non-fragranced laundry soap and NO fabric softener on the towels! Thanks for your info, and Happy Whatever You Celebrate, Dr. Dray!
Thank you Dr. Dray for sharing :) I'm a fan of the Neutrogena skin care products - a few of the products that you mentioned I've tried and I'm happy using them 🥰 My skin is very sensitive with Rosacea, I don't like trying new products that may cause an irritation. I use fragrance free products including my laundry soap, without any dryer sheets. The scent of most fragranced products aggravate my allergies . Take care everyone 🌹
I got Cerave Healing Ointment purely after listening to you, like 2 years ago, and it is saving my bacon, I mean my lips, this winter! I also love the Vaseline everywhere balm stick, as a runner it really helps with chafing and it also works really well to prevent rough skin on my feet when I apply it before socks. For hands, if you have a Lidl store in your area, they have a hand cream called "SOS" that is thick, rich in humectants, and fragrance-free. And it's like 3 bucks.
Great timing as always 🥰We’re about to hit the worst part of winter where I live. Hardly any daylight, ice, winds, and hardly any humidity at all. My heels and fingers crack instantly and I can’t go through the rich creams and vaseline fast enough. So ready for this to be over but spring won’t be here until April.
Thank you thank you thank you Dr. Dray. My rosacea def flaring due to heat being on more and cold, windy conditions outside when raking leaves, etc I usually keep my heat at 50 degrees at night and open my bedroom window cuz I like it very cool when sleeping. I stayed overnight at relatives who keep their heat set at - I kid you not - 84 degrees day and night. OMG I was ddyyyyinnng. For those of you new to Dr. Dray, please try all these things she is advising. You will be so happy you did. The hardest one for me was giving up long, hot baths & showers cuz it felt soothing/pampering/relaxing. But now that I'm used to shorter, lukewarm showers, the benefits to my skin are totally worth it. And gloves for wet work? 1000x yes. Truly a game changer - my hands & cuticles used to be chapped, cracked and bleeding all winter. You're the BEST, Dr. Dray!
When I was using tret and would wash my face with ultra gentle cleanser my skin felt dry, once I stopped using actives and let my skin heal I realized it’s a great simple cleanser & LRP Lipikar+ moisturizer are my winter favs. ❤
If I didn’t love chicago like I do, I’d try to move somewhere without this winter we have here. I use a full spectrum light and cool mist humidifier, and those help a lot. I’ve also developed a soothing skincare routine to do while I’m lounging in the light. It’s almost a personal spa time.
This is the exact day that I needed this reminder to use petroleum jelly! It worked well when I followed this recommendation last year, as did reducing the hot water. Thank you, Dr. Dray!
I love you Dr Dray!! ❤️ My skin has never been this good. Using adapalene, moisturiser, SPF and petrolatu. (and a barrier repairing serum, but it's not necessary). I no longer peel or sand my skin and it's feeling so good!
@LauraAmanda8888 Can you share in details your skincare routine? I have been using cerave healing ointment after my bath and putting on gloves to seal in. Petroleum may be better I am thinking? I use tret, moisturizer, spf w/ reapply. I have been thinking about adding in adapalene, I have no acne and have not had a breakout of any kind in years so thinking just may stick with tret!
We've been in winter for months!!! (Anchorage Alaska) 70 inches in snow so far and lowest degrees so far -4 !! Lol winter is brutal on your skin. I know. I use the Seaweed Bath Co products! BEST ON THE PLANET!!! Dr Dray please look into this all natural ocean inspired , vegan products and do a video on it❤ YOU WILL LOVE IT!" ☃️❄️❄️❄️Happy Winter from the 'Great White North'
Same, I’m around the same latitude but in Sweden. We’ve had winter for an eternity already and soon we’re getting to the worst (coldest) part. At least it hardly can’t get any darker lol
I love this channel. Dr Dray understands molecular biology and integrates that into her views. It really seems like she has thought carefully and obsessively about dermatology; I think she truly loves it. I trust her for this reason.
It's super cold here pretty windy i would say but since we are at a lower altitude snow is not much of a issue but freezing temperatures that affect our fields that have orange and tangerine trees. Excellent tips and in places we often neglect such as our hands and lips. I now it's cold but now i use lukewarm water and im pretty good and happy with it and i adore that soak and slather technique and makes the skin look and feel pretty content and super hydrated 😊❤. I also don't want to be bothered by shoveling snow and stuff but i confess snow is pretty awesome as a sight (snowman and angels ❤). Thanks for the winter tips Doctor Andrea and stay warm and cozy 😊.
Great video I made my husband listen with me because he has some great skin issues. He is 50 and suffers from rosacea, dry and oily skin in certain areas, acne flare-ups and is exposed to every type of weather we live in PA and he is a state Forester outside all the time he is exposed to Sun quite frequently and has become very sunscreen dependent! After a skin cancer scare he is very compliant with his skin regimen and sunscreen. I use your videos to change his mind about a lot of his skin care practices including sunscreen and how much heat he uses and consumes in vehicles. When you're in a vehicle the heat is blowing straight on your face
This was a great video! Thanks to you and Neutrogena. I have a question. Doc, what are your thoughts on when to start using the menopause-specific items? I feel as if the hydroboost items seem more appropriate for me. However, I am part of the menopause demographic which is always a surprise to most people when they learn this. How do I know for sure? Thanks for all you do!
I’m a hot mess! Perimenopause, iron deficiency anemia and rounding out with the hypothyroid! The not nice winter Raynauds plays into all of this too and let’s not forget ultra sensitive skin and omg I live in a dry dry dry climate and the place I live is fighting mold😅!!! I am VERY open to suggestions as I am also insurance-less! Yay, just another day in paradise! Please ya’ll I need all of the advice and links for free resources you can share! Bless Dr Dray for her most valuable information! The anemia has caused the bad cracking in the corners of my lips. “Welcome to my world!” Happy Holidays Friends!
Love your content ❤❤.. your honest reviews of products are helping me a lot. Thanks to you 😊... Please suggest me one drugstore sunscreen which is light weight and would be good under makeup
Dr. dray thanks a lot!! Like always 😊 I have recommend your videos to a friend of mine. And thanks for the hand help. I need to do that, because I can flare up so bad and get itchy.
Oh my hands, Dr. Dray, very dry in the winter. Use CeraVe to wash and i moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. I wear sunscreen on my lips constantly. . Cosrx is my favorite lip sunscreen and or CeraVe healing ointment. I learned all his self care from you Dr. Dray. haha.
So far as humidity is concerned in one place we live, the dry time is summer and the humid time is winter (high desert). In the other place, it’s a pretty steady moderate humidity. So, I have two sets of moisturizers. I’ll be glad to permanently move to the former so that I don’t need so many products. Where we are right now, the water isn’t just hard but heavily chlorinated. It plays havoc on my skin. Luckily, the other house has great water. I can hardly wait to move.
i hope this isn't too controversial, especially for US folks, but one thing that helps me with dry lips during a day out is a mask. when you have a mask, you're circulating warm moist air over your mouth and nose. i find that it helps a lot when the air is dry. and of course, it would help protect from viruses/dust.
Do I need sunscreen if I’m indoors all day in the winter when it’s overcast? I’ve heard conflicting info about uv rays being able to come in through the windows..
Only of you re directly sitting by the window for a prolonged period of time and there is some sun, or snow. Otherwise wearing sunscreen indoors is not doing much.
I use Dove in bath & shower also. Using new Eczema formula with oatmeal, but Dove sensitive is great also. Also use to wash my hands, instead of liquid cleanser which dries my hands terribly in winter months.
@@Lilah1754 one of my local stores the large bars of Dove bar soap in a few different varieties they have argan oil coconut milk and oatmeal too they are all good moisturizers but I have to say the argan oil one is my favorite 🤩
I have been abiding to the short showers since I’ve learned about what it does and it has made a difference but I don’t enjoy the shower anymore because I feel like I’m in a hygiene race! 🚿😂
Dear Dr. Dray, could you please make a video on Moisturizers for Milia because every single moisturizer out there has something in it that is comedogenic and can cause congestion and milia, I hope you won't mind sharing your best researched moisturizers. Thank you.
I have a rare allergy to petroleum. I found this out after getting CO2 laser and having an extreme reaction anytime I would reapply petroleum. Any other suggestions for a good moisturizer that’s similar?
Lanolin, some people have allergies to it as well, but if you don't and aren't adverse to using animal products, it's superior in every way over petroleum jelly.
These are some that fall under the category of occlusive like petrolatum such as shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin, paraffin, beeswax. She has videos on some of these.
Thanks for this video! With the heating pad and heating blanket are you talking about only direct contact with skin? If I have PJs on in between the skin and the heating pad is that still a problem? Thank you ❤
Dr. Dre, would you please give some recommendations for good humidifiers. You have mentioned adding a humidifier to help with dry skin in several videos, but I am clueless about what brand or type of humidifier would be best for running in your bedroom at night. Thank you!
A couple cool mist humidifiers she and other derms have recommend are NovoLido 400ml Mini Rechargeable Humidifier with 7-Colors Mode Light or LEVOIT Humidifiers for Bedroom Large Room.
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Monday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Needed🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
Dr. Dray can you do a video for bald men and what they should put on their heads/scalp other than just sunscreen? Can they also use skin care in that area such as serums and retinol for prevention. At church I see a lot of old man who got bad cuts and cancer on their heads and sometimes it looks bad.
Thanks to the concerning affects of global warming/climate change, it’s been pretty mild and warm in the afternoons but pretty cold at nights and in the mornings. However, the air is still pretty dry which still causes dry skin.
Curious if mandelic acid would be okay for peeling lips? Not daily, just every now & then. I am trying to remember a former video where you mention mandelic is not as harsh an exfoliant. Thank you.
It's probably Merit The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation and Concealer Stick. She's listed her whole makeup routine in some of her weekend vlogs and her ltk page.
Good day Dr. Dray. Wonderful, researched tips as usual. I came across a hair product called Scalp Love rosemary~mint serum by Pacifica. Would love you to review it. I have been using the Shea Moisture anti dandruff with apple cider vinegar (recommended by you) and love it.
I’m curious about your thoughts about baby Aquaphor for the lips and skin for adults. We use it on our kids for many of these issues. I think it’s 43% petroleum jelly. Not sure about the pros/cons of the other ingredients.
Thank you very much for ur information! I wil bear in mind not to put the laptop on my laps or use the heating pads that often. It didnt cross my mind that these behaviors will retard our health at a certain level.
Ok so last week I got Sunday Riley good genes on my lips while I was using it on my face (I rub in a good amount and let sit for 15-20 minutes anything more irritates my skin for days) and after washing it off my face I did my daily routine which includes the inky list lip peptides and vaseline at the end and omg my lips looked plump like they did in my 20's.. do you think this would be a bad thing to incorporate like maybe monthly?? Because girl, this is something I need to do now 🤣🤣
hi dr.dray I have a huge dandruff problem I want to the dermatologist gave me treatment didn't do much ketoconazol seems to be the only thing working for me is it bad if I use as a long term treatment?
In one of her videos she says dandruff is a chronic condition that will have flares. She says use the shampoo daily when you are having those flares but when it calms down, you can use it a few times a week to keep it under control.
I did purchase the Neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser. However, it has fragrance! Amazon stated it was unscented. I got a refund for the purchase and gave the cleanser away. Yuck!
Shame, because Neutrogena Ultra Gentle cleanser does make an unscented version of this cleanser. It say fragrance free on front of bottle. It is free of any scent, as I have used it. Guess Amazon sent you the scented version. Their mistake, so glad you got ur $ back!
Hi! Idk if you’ve noticed, but there’s hundreds of videos girls are posting about their hygiene routines and content for how to smell good where everyone is double cleansing their WHOLE bodies with a harsher soap the first round and using abrasive materials everytime and proceeding to use a scrub, almost on a daily basis all in the name of hygiene and self care. Maybe I’m wrong but it sounds excessive and potentially harmful!! It would be nice if you could address this
The hell is double cleaning your body? You mean using a shower gel twice? I mean, you can but it's not necessary. I am in hundreds of skincare IG accounts and tiktoks and never have I heard of that.
Dr Dray has videos on bathing and showering and so do some other derms so I'm not sure why anyone would be double cleansing their body unless they've been wearing body sunscreen they have to remove. And even then Dr Dray has talked about using something like the neutrogena body oil first and then a gentle cleanser but no sort of harsh soaps or scrubbers.
@@db-gb5xi even if you are using a body sunscreen, your average shower gel is significantly more powerful than any face cleanser at removing sunscreen. And if you don't have a strange breakout, there is like no drawback leaving your sunscreen on for a bit longer (contrary to your face where it can clog your pores etc). Your body runs against clothes, sheets, people, pets, and a myriad other surfaces everyday so it doesn't really stay on you for too long anyway.
@@EliasBlind well just look up “everything shower routine” or hygiene videos. If you want me to gather a bunch and link them for you I will. But basically so many people, on a very regular basis, take a bar soap or something like dr bronzer soap, lather it in a wash cloth or loofa and scrub their whole body except for downstairs, then do it all over with something like a dove body wash when there isn’t even product, like sunscreen, that needs to be removed first. Then use a sugar scrub to exfoliate when really the first time they washed their body with the bar soap and washcloth, they already got all the exfoliation they need. But if derms say limbs don’t even need body wash, why don’t these people take that advice or at least go out of their way to seek it instead of doing the trendy thing and scrub their bodies raw with exfoliation and excessive soap? It’s unnecessary and I’ve been mentioning this in their comment sections respectfully yet they always say well to each their own, my body can handle it when that’s not even the point. The point is no one’s skin needs it and I’m sure it will sensitize their skin in the long run. And yes I am saying it’s unnecessary but that’s what so many girls are blindly doing thinking it’s the best way to effectively clean
@@db-gb5xi I understand yet there’s loads and loads of these hygiene videos that are relaxing and aesthetic to watch but then u notice that despite the fact they clearly care about their skin and have proper facial skincare routines, they’re washing their bodies in a way that I don’t think any dermatologist would recommend or be ok with and I’m just wondering why so many girls are falling for this idea u need to exfoliate your skin body and and clean it twice to actually remove sweat and dirt when obviously that isn’t true? I wish more dermatologists would notice this hygiene trend that is also very popular on tiktok and say something about it because I feel like all these girls are gonna have the driest and most sensitive skin when they’re older and are influencing a lot of people to do the same
Start with simple skincare routine like just apply moisturizer to the face only and after some time passes you gradually increases your skincare routine
@@glassyclassy3173 problem is with washing my face at night before bed, it's too cold to do it, i normally don't have problem with doing it, the problem is winter, generally.
Could cause it, as excess histamine can be a culprit in reflux, as it can be in rosacea also. That’s why H2Blockers ( histamine antagonists) like Pepcid can help with reflux. PPI’s used to also treat reflux, like Prilosec, can cause rosacea, when used long term. They can upset your intestional micro biome, & also cause SIBO. Best to discus with your Dr.
