My ears perked up when you brought up the UV function on the SGN3. I'm friends with a biologist who's studying scorpions out in the Sonora Desert. They have a protein in their shell that glows in UV light, so having something like the SGN3 can be one heck of a life saver for him. I might just get it for him... :)

Nitecore Tube actually has another mode called Infinitely Variable Brightness. When in low output mode, press and hold the button for more than 1 sec, the brightness will start going up from 1 lumen to 45, you can release the button at any time to set the desired brightness.

One of my addictions - running out of excuses to tell my wife why I have bought another pocket light - Have the 3 of the O Lights including one copper - they are fantastic! Really want the Nite Core Tube next to add the USB charging functionality to my pocket!

Good review! My Olight is running for 1h 15 min with full light and an additional 15-30 min with very reduce light when loaded with a 900 mAh recargeable-battery , NiMh.

Received the OLight as a gift and really like it. The only problem I've had is the bulb end unscrewing and pulling my keys out of my pocket and later discovering my battery and bulb compartment still floating around in my pocket. Glad I did not lose the little bulb compartment which could have been easy to do if I had been outside and it had fallen into the grass. After that occasion, I was paranoid about unscrewing it too far and I must have left the light screwed too tight because it came back on some time later. My wife noticed the "shekinah glow" coming off my private area and pointed out I was "flashing" her. Still using it but would prefer a pushbutton light now. Thanks for the review Sootch!

Great review Sootch! (For keychain use) Leaning toward the power and ruggedness of the TIP, but as an Infantry soldier and having benefited from the numerous advantages of red light , I certainly appreciate the SGN3.

After several cheaper edc lights I came to one conclusion. My edc has to be able to survive a ride through the washer lol.

Interesting video. Kind of surprised we didn't see any Thrunite lights, especially the Ti3. The Ti3 uses a single AAA batery and is my hands-down favorite EDC light. Small, simple and tough as all get out. Demolition Ranch shot one into a watermelon out of a 12 gauge and it still lit up. That's plenty tough for me! Keep up the good work.

I have both the Tube and the Tip. I really like the Tube's "slide" feature. When the light is on at the lowest level, holding down the power switch allows the user to gradually increase the output from 1 lumen to 45 and stop at any level in between.

I have the nitecore TUBE V2, it has 55 lumens, what a great tiny lite, love it. Thanks for the short but yet informative review sir!

Still like my swiss army knife mini that has a led light in it. That way it does more than just light.

I recently picked up the foursevens mini mark ii. You have your choice up a pocket/hat clip or the keychain clip. It puts out 1000lumens in burst then drops down to 300 off of 1 included rcr123a. I highly recommend it.

I picked up the Surefire Sidekick. Small, rechargeable and bright with multiple light output settings. It's a little pricey but I love it.

I'm an O-light fan but they missed the boat. They need a single lumen or sub-lumen setting on the I3 to compete with the ThruNight. I prefer being able to swap out a common battery like the triple A if it dies and you need more time.

Great line up and with these there's no excuse not to have one. Been using the Nitecore Tube ever since Chris from PreparedMind101 reviewed one and it's never let me down. Thanks for the review Brother :)

Have the Nitecore tube on my keychain but the Lumintop Tool AAA is always in my pocket and is my most used light.

My nitecore tube has been working great for six months now. Of course, I don't use it for any "heavy duty" tasks, just to get my keys in the door, to find things under the bed, to find the lantern when the power goes off, etc, the usual keychain light tasks. I use it almost every day, if only for a few minutes at a time, and it has always worked very well. I have it on my key chain with my Kershaw Cinder, so Zi always have a light, a knife, and a bottle opener whenever I need one!

got the Olight. I carry it in the little useless coin pocket of my jeans. love the power with the cheap and easy AAA battery. The reversible pocket clip as I see it makes for a handy emergency headlamp if you wear some kind of hat all the time like myself lol. Mine is in brass and I love it.

I have had my pico for over 2 and a half years now and I have not had a problem, great for the price and the best thing I don't know it is there.

I have a nitecore tip 2017 version, I love it. But you didn't even cover a third of the features.

im not sponsered by them but i want to buy the RAVYVON 550 lumens. its tiny but its pricey for me. i like your video. im a big fan of rechargable small flashlights as back ups. Good vid!

I got my wife a maglite solitare LED keychain flashlight. I was pretty impressed with it for what it is.

I personally swear by the Thrunite Ti3. 120, 60 and 1 lumens at the twist of head. 120 being just enough to fry someones eyeballs, and 1 lumen being just little enough to not disrupt your night vision, but also provide like 100 hours of illumination time during a blackout. I wear it on a neck lanyard, and I haven't taken it off for literally a week straight. Not even in bed. It's *always* there, and if I need it quickly, I just pop that sucker in my mouth. (It's perfectly light enough and not too aggressive in the texturing). It's drop dead convenient. And on top of that it goes for like 16 bucks, is IPX8 waterproof. It has never failed me in the approx 2 and a half years I've owned it.

love the video and I love flashlights of all kinds - but maybe I am a little OCD but I would worry about not having access to a USB port if my light began to fail, whereas I can always carry a spare AAA or two.

Just got an Olight I3e and was very impressed with how much light it threw. I am very impressed with it and very happy with it. Especially like that it runs on 1 AAA battery.

Hi, that Nitecore tube has a varying output mode from 1 to 45 lumens by double-pressing and hold the button, you let go when the desired light level is achieved. It also has safety lockout by pressing and holding for 5 seconds when in 1 lumen mode. Thanks.

I just got the pelican 1810 keychain light and i think its great.

Love the video but in my opinion the Surefire Sidekick or Surefire Titan is where it's at when it comes to keychain lights. Just depends if you want a twist head or push button activation.

The Nitecore Tube also has a ramping feature that will incrementally increase or decrease the light between the low and high settings. Just press twice and hold to ramp the Tube's output.

Best keychain lights have buttons, twist action lights need two hands to use. Best value is the NC Tube.

I just ordered two of the Olights from Olight Direct. I bought one and got one half price. I have been needing a keychain light for some time. I took some time deciding on the model. The Olight seemed to offer the best balance of features. So I chose it.

Check out the thru night ti3 (they probably have newer better options since I got mine.. But I still have mine. It has the moonlight mode like 1 lumen and it has medium and bright about 110 lumens out of a AAA battery.. Much more with a 3.7v lithium.. Also has strobe.. I wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe the titanium model.. It has a flat tail so it will stand up and work as a lamp should you need (I find it's very handy and will never have one that doesn't have a flat bottom for that reason..) it's much like the olight your showing here and the reversible clip makes it an instant hat lamp.... That mech army titanium looks sweet I'd like to check it out but it's going to do about the same as my ti3 with lithium battery... If you like little flashlights, I've used a lot and haven't bought a new one since I got the ti3 a couple maybe 3 years ago.. Go for a replaceable battery and a common AAA is a good option.. You will never run out of light.. You can use a AAA rechargeable but it's not going to perform any better.. I love tiny lights...

just got the new streamlight Key mate usb. fantastic light three modes. rechargeable with USB, it's got low high and strobe.

The Nitecore Tube is VERY water resistant, I've put it through two cycles in the washing machine because it's so small, I forgot it was in the clothes pocket! For $10, can't go wrong.

The Nightcore Tip is the best you can find for the size.

Next time make it a point to show the led/optics. Great video though. I didn't know many of these exist.

What would you recommend the much for durability

I have a 2017 model of nightcore tip and it is great, charge lasts a long time and at 350 lumins its very bright, fits on key ring and is my most used flashlight and i have quite a few...the only negative is the paint wears off....there is no battery drain when the light is off, not like the pre 2017 models, i have had this light for one year...

are the last two flashlights interchangeable battery packs and switches

So, For the Nitecore TIP you have to hold the button for turbo mode for 30 min, so you can have max output.:) I real situations it is impossible to hold the button for 30 min:)

Tube has variable mode 1-45 lumens, you forgot to said it in case you know it. I have almost all these lights and as a keychain light is tube the best, it's plastic but even though very durable and what is the most important it's very lightweight and flat, what is the best for keychain flashlight.

Just a quick UPDATE: I had my TIP for just over 2 weeks when it began developing the issues others have experienced. Very disappointing. It was a great keychain LED light.... for about two weeks.

I can second the recommendations for the Nitecore TIP and the MecArmy Illuminex (mine's in stainless steel). Both are great!

Sootch, the nitecore tube has variable brightness. U press once switch it on the lowest then press and hold the button. It will go thru the brightness like a variable rotary ring frm 1-45 and u let go to pick the brightness u want!

what you have missed to mention with plastic Nitecore Tube that the brightness can be adjusted all between 1 to 45 lumens. With the light turned on you press and hold the switch and you can choose whatever brightness you like.

You forgot my favorite, the DQG HOBI available in titanium and stainless steel, 120 lumens on high 10 on low replaceable rechargeable battery, very similar to the illuminex 1 but about 2/3 the size.

The MecArmy SGN3 has that single multi-mode button Those things are a pain to use. Every time you want to use a light, you must click through a lot of useless modes. Some are complicated. The early Streamlight Protac series had many returns because customers couldn't work the multi-mode button. The Streamlight KeyMate KeyChain (not the KeyMate USB) goes for 96 hours on one set of batteries. It's only 10 lumens but has reflector optics which make it super bright. Twist ON/OFF. Built solid.

I would add one surefire titan or one prometheus beta Qrv2 or a Muyshondt Aeon!

I have the MecArmy. I'm going on two years with this rechargeable and it is worth the price. Yeah, it cost a bit more but, you know.....I'm worth it.

MechArmy's Micro USB Cable is sold seperately which, IMO is a bit cheeky since this keychain light costs close to £40! The Olight has a nice finish to it as the company always delivers high quality, but my vote goes to Nitecore's TIP Gen 2.

RE: PICO.., I have always had trouble twist on lights. They tend to keep twisting on your keyring and the end falls off. (this is true of almost ALL twist top or twist element gadgets!)

I personally wouldn't choose to get a rechargeable torch. When I go hiking I pack my sack about 10 minutes before leaving, pop in a fresh battery so I'm confident in that 100% charge. If it was rechargeable I'd definitely forget half the time and it's just another thing to go wrong.
