Hey Sebs, I really enjoy your channel. I think it's great that you put an early top 10 list together. I also think that as you listen to more country music, the list will change some over time. On a different note, because you are such a "daughter's father," you need to listen to Alan Jackson's "Drive." He has 3 daughters, I think. But the video should make you reflect on your daughter's and mean even more as they grow up and share your memories.

"Lady" by Kenny Rogers was actually written by Lionel Ritchie.
@rmccugh61
@rmccugh61 2 месяца назад
"Lady" was indeed written by Lionel Ritchie but it was specifically written for Kenny Rogers. If I remember correctly, The Commodores either had already disbanded or they were about to. Lionel had decided to seek a solo career and Kenny was one of if not the first to accept him into whatever genre he wanted to pursue. He actually asked Lionel to write a song for him. "Lady" is that song. The Commodores already had a big hit with a song, "Three Times a Lady" and it had crossed over from the pop genre to the country genre, which at that time was extremely rare. Country songs did then, and still do, cross over much more often.

Sebs, it’s been so fun watching you become a country convert! I think anybody that thinks they don’t like country music just hasn’t really listened to it. For all the reasons you’ve mentioned, it’s music that speaks to almost anyone. And your advice to remain curious not judgmental is a great lesson for any area of our lives, not just music. I think if we would all heed that advice, we would understand more about each other rather than focusing on things that divide or make us different. I’m another Utah transplant, but consider Utah my home too because I’ve been here longer than where I was born. Love to see you guys are from Salt Lake, so am I. Maybe I’ll run into you sometime!

I like 👍 many of the singers on your list. I heard country music when I was a young boy 👦. My older relatives and older neighbors listened to classic country in the 1930s to 1950s when they were young. The black country singer I first heard of was Charley Pride. I remember the late Ray Charles on Hee Haw and other country music shows. Other singers: the late Glen Campbell, Pat Green, Phil Vassar, Shania Twain 🇨🇦, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Deborah Allen, Alabama, Little River Band (only the members from Australia 🇦🇺), Martina McBride, Dolly Parton. You should see the video of Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie talking about the making of "Lady"! Back in the '70's when Kenny was BIG, he called up Lionel who was writing for everyone and himself and the Commodores as well and Kenny said he wanted to collaborate. Lionel said "Nah, I don't think so!" and then Kenny said something like "I think this could sell like 8 or 9 million records" and Lionel's response was "See you on Friday!" They told that story on a few tribute to Kenny shows and I find it hilarious! Then ended up being friends for nearly 50 years.

Of course everybody's tastes are different and your experiences shape who you are and the songs you like, but I feel like you can easily tell the difference in a list like this between the people who have experienced a large amount of country music and those who have only experienced a small amount of country music. The sample size for each artist can make a HUGE impact on how you feel about them as a whole. I might absolutely love 3 or 4 songs by one artist, but they won't be on a top 10 list because I'm not as big a fan of the rest of their work. And for almost all of the artists, I feel like your sample size is quite small to be making a list like this just yet. I personally feel like it's a bit premature, but maybe consider doing another one further down the line to see if/how it changes over time. Just my two cents for what it's worth. Hopefully you continue to explore the genre and enjoy the journey. God bless and have a great day!

I'm SOOOOOO HAPPY you found Jamey Johnston!!!!! The first time I ever heard "In Color" I got chills. I still do every time I hear it or watch the video. Since you like Trace Adkins, please, PLEASE react to his song "Muddy Water". I've checked for YEARS (the last time I looked was 2 days ago), and still LITERALLY NO ONE has ever reacted to this song. I love that song a lot more than the overplayed "You're Gonna Miss This". Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but the radio ruined it for me. Even if Sebs doesn't see this, if ANYONE ELSE that does reactions on here sees this, PLEASE feel free to take my suggestion. You would be a pioneer.

You have great taste in country music -- the wonderful thing is - it's ALL great! Ton's of truly great artists - some are no longer here and some we enjoy over and over again! George Strait is certainly in my top 10! As is Reba and Dolly and I could go on and on!

Your top 10 is all guys. Listen to do more oldies country ladies and let’s see if we can’t fix that! The judds-grandpa tell me bout the good ol’ days, Reba McEntire (with Vince Gill) -heart won’t lie, or Kathy Mattea- where’ve you been. There are many, many more… but that’s a good start!

So I just found this channel tonight, would really recommend some Hank Williams Jr. Country Boy Can Survive is one of the best, but there are a ton of great ones. Also you need to hear David Allen Cole 's song You Never Even Call Me By My Name.

based on this list, you have a lot of great country artists to hear yet. Almost none of the greats where listed, but that can come over time.

You should listen to Home Free. They are a capella country, but they do many genres. Kenny Rogers even asked them to do a song with him. They will get you to love country music even more.

In the 70-80's, I listened to quite a few songs by Alabama (Feels So Right, Roll On, The Closer You Get...) and Ronnie Milsap (Smokey Mountain Rain, It was Almost Like A Song, Day Dreams About Night Things...)

You should react to one of Hardy’s new songs. Both amazing. Quit will have the lyrics you will love and Rockstar has an amazing video and is more fun. I believe his album will drop March. I am super stoked to see him in June for Quit tour. I am with you, he is tops for me as well.

Loved this, new sub! You like Chris Stapleton - then you need to be introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughn or SRV - start with Texas Flood. That will lead you down a wonderful rabbit hole. Honerable mention as the story in the song is great and I just love this artist is Dwight Yokam - a 1000 Miles from Nowhere.

Such a great list. I'd suggest one of the biggest stars of the '80's (11 #1 hits in a row if memory serves) Dan Seals. Personal favorite of his is "Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)" and a side-note, he was also "England Dan" from England Dan & John Ford Coley in the '70's! His brother was Jim Seals from Seals & Crofts!
