You can lie without the intention of hurting someone and still hurt someone. Years ago I hypothesised that there's no circumstance where lying is good and to this day I still can't prove myself wrong. I discussed this with my friends and they think I'm crazy, "sometimes it's essential to lie, like at work or to your partner, you don't want to risk losing them", basically nothing but narcissism-based arguments. Jordan's rule is really well worded.

I never thought I’d be in the position that I am now in 4 years ago. I was aimless, nihilistic and confused. After listening to Dr Peterson and reading his books, my life changed. I stood up straight, with my shoulders back. I told the truth, not only to other people, but to myself. I changed my mindset about learning and I enrolled into university to get as educated as I could be. I lost weight and became healthy. I am now in a profession that is on the way to paying for a living that I never had as a child. The next goal? Restore the broken relationship I have with my parents. As tough as that will be, I know that I am tougher. Thank you Dr Peterson, your work has truly changed my life for the better.

The thing with humans is that we know a lot. We can know much, much more than we think we can as our minds are truly deep and broad, if we know how to forge them that way. When we admit we don't know all it doesn't mean that we don't want to know as much as we can. It's opening some space for the knowledge to come in, with our conscious direction and, yes, also without.

The problem with people such as Peterson, Sharpiro and Candace Owens, though certainly more switched on by large degrees than 'the woke', is that they have taken Yahwism (and various other deontological quests) to be at the core of Western society. Yet Yahweh is merely an old Canaanite bronze age demonic sprite which has caused countless forms of misery on earth. This might upset Sharpiro the most but I couldn't care less about this, if these guys want some free speech. Jews represent some of the best of people so no need to be insecure. Same with Muslims. If your god seems to be something of a brute, then own up to it. I respect that Muslims and Jews tried to understand something spiritual, it really stands for something in my estimation. In any case, it's often Christians, not Jews, following the worst of Yaweh's ways, who cause the most problems. As I have said before, in this era, and really it is indicitive of a strong thread within Western society, you might get the most 'coos', 'ahhhs' and followers by saying 'I know absolutely, deontologically and truly that this is so' (because Yaweh, Soros etc told me it was so). Yet amazingly, if you look at it historically, the ancient societies and the vast majority of Western, and non Western geniuses were not abject deontologists. They knew that the imagination was vast, as vast as anything could be in fact. Ipso facto, we must treat the human realm with this same awe and with the sensibility of wide, magnaminous, not-all-knowing study. Einstein knew this, Jung knew this, Tesla knew this, the best social scientists and anthropologists knew this etc etc. I understand the desire to counter one fierce deontology (woke) with another. However, the true ancients, who's connection to spirit we certainly do not fully comprehend at all (yes, it's something of of a cliche yet one I'd be happy to run with given the evidence and my own experience) would have a far more profound approach. It is our ancestors no less, the very stardust within us and around us, who are calling for our deeper comprehension over bronze age firey sprites.

Funny enough, I discovered Jordan Peterson randomly when I had my youtube on my tv playing random videos while I was cleaning my room (seriously). I stopped and listened to this man speaking so powerfully at (what looked like at least) a dry administrative meeting. Since then, I've stopped doing any drugs, have found a challenging career track I feel energized by, and most importantly, found my soul mate and have had a child. I could not have done these things without the wisdom imparted by Professor Peterson.

Love your Heavenly Father with all your heart all your strength and all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself. If we could get that right it would make us better people. Hah, I am currently reading an interesting little book and that one made me think about what "praying" (from Christianity perspective) is. And I came to a similar conclusion to what Jordan just said: It's a thought process. It's reflecting the past, what happened, who you were and what you did. It's reflecting, what you could have done better, what you did great and where you struggled and may need help to find your way. It's also thinking of the future. How would you like the things to be, what is your goals, your wishes. It just all happens in a "conversation" with a fictional being (this comes from the perspective of an atheist). This realization hit me hard. I always thought praying to an invisible person that lives in the skies, was a stupid waste of time, until a few days ago. And since then I try to take time at the end of the day to reflect - just as people do with their prayers - but without the praying and conversation with an invisible man, that lives in the sky. I just have an inner dialog with myself.

Great video. IN regard to your discussion on Prayer & Thought. There was a Hidden Brain podcast years back talking about the power of imaginary friends. It showed how not only can our brain create simulated worlds (for testing ideas), but also create simulated versions of either people we know, or people we would like to talk to. A very powerful tool. One story in the podcast that's stuck with me was about a elderly man, politically conservative, who's wife - politically the opposite - had died of cancer. He talked about when he was confronted with difficult decisions, he would subconsciously summon her back to life, to see what she felt about a topic. We're pretty amazing creatures.

@@Jordy_NL Yep, I think it's a powerful tool, especially if you create positive Avatars to talk to. We've always done it, even as kids "what would batman do?" or "what would Han Solo do?" It's why I think archetypes from modern and historical mythology are so important to humans. It's hard to even tell what came first since we build our own avatar from the mythology around us.

6:25 Jordan is so right about this. I have more than my fair share of resentments but with my first son on the way (almost done 😀), all this pales in comparison. Who cares about unfair treatment you might or might not have received when your little boy wants to play with you?

I will never get the hate surrounding you. All you want to do is help. The sad thing is that some people only see the negative in a person and only see their past, instead of seeing the good in them.

In my opinion & thought provoking; "But... there is no ignorance"... Since any "ignorance" results from an trivial and thus so common Human biological limitations and a even "virtual endless" throughout the time personal underdevelopment(?)... Anyone can learn that the intellectual investment of time is for a full lifetime(?)... There is even to much vital and necessary acumulated knowlege in the world's societies, for one indivudual to learn and "carry"(?)... The mind and consciousness has a "virtual infinite potential"; education and culture is the "self- control" of such potential(?).

We are at the end of a type of meaning, which is the idea that for anything to have meaning, it must have a *forward* type meaning: that to have any meaning then it must knock down walls and be willing to destroy things. That's end result of the meaning of getting to some type of place. That is ultimately meaningless and necessarily nihilistic. It's an assumption that a setting can be controlled and defined life in a manner that makes any human life as fundamentally meaningless. The forward movement as a goal in itself that disregards the individual human frame as the fundamental structure and limitation of human value is fundamentally self destructive. That's the null hypothesis of Dr. Quentin Smith. If forward movement was the goal only, then every event is only an anthropomorphic expression of a previous event, and the nature of infinity means that no matter how far one gets there's always a little bit of space further. If a single human being didn't fit in a universal sieve as the guiding metric of limitations and movement, then there is no standard or limitations to movement. That's infinite form and infinite movement with no form or limitations. That's the God delusion. The idea of God is a pretense to a logically impossible infinity. Nihilism then is the logical consequence of belief in God, with an emotional sense of denial of that fact that prevents any acknowledgement that the solution to life's problems is underneath that scab instead of around or beside it. The scab being the fear of nothingness. The solution then is an acknowledgement of personal human limitations within the larger context of the universe. The argument from evil in fact is that no being that can claim to be God can exist without already existing within the universe itself. The context being that the universe is something that God lives within, like a human being driving a car. The context of the car is evidence of a logically precise context within the larger universe. The only meaning is that of a satisfying life. The only meaning is that of living a small life within the obvious context of a much larger universe as a small human being. That truth is obvious and intuitively so. Meaning is only necessary as a courageous becon to rediscover satisfaction or the perfect sieve of personal evolution. The idea of "transcendence" is an old trick to use the masses to keep life from going extinct and that's not necessary anymore. Iniquity is a word that's synonymous with injustice. Are you a sinner that just needs to find ones evolutionary seive, or are you just a deliberate worker of injustice or have you already found that evolutionary niche? As for me, I already have my place in the evolutionary process. If I were to interpret the confusion in regards to meaning it seems that others hadn't found their own state of being to start. Atheism is the philosophy of the starting place for personal evolution that allows the larger context to preserve itself. Theism is only a pretentious expectation that heaven is the "starting" place. Heaven is only a human invention. Earth is our home. Nihilism is what theism inevitably leads too in it's negative form, because the hand in theism always leads to a foolish conclusion. Once one acknowledges that, one can see the solutions to the problems of life more obviously. The proof is that it's only a false sense of pride that's causing theists to try to keep their hands on the scale of theistic foolishness, when it would be so easy for people to get out of their own way and live life within an indifferent universe. It may be limited, but it's satisfying. Either life can be still and is striving for coherence where meaning is the human shape capable of staying human, or life is just an endless sea of cause and effect that's ultimately formless and meaningless. These are the only competing philosophies. Some think they aren't nihilists just because they believe in God, when in fact it's the belief in God that keeps this very obvious logical syllogism from being obvious. It's their belief in God that keeps them essentially nihilistic with no hope of escape. Atheism as a philosophy is the only antidote to theism and the meaningless philosophy that theism entails.
