There are actually some snakes that will go through the water haha. Luckily we didn’t see any.

Another good effort Cam. I must admit, I prefer the old wooden huts to the new (rammed earth?) ones. They have much more character.

I ended up having a good time in the pongerup plains. At first, it was dreadful.

Hey mate, loving the content so far. I'm curious though, how you had the time to continuously walk 50+ km days? Especially because I know how time draining bad weather or walking through water etc can be. I have done a thru hike of the Te Araroa in NZ and only topped 50+ kms on a few occasions. I found in order to walk 50+km, it took at least 12 hours. I was also sleeping about 12 hours a day.. I found I just didn't have the time in the day to walk 50+kms. Also, how did you train for this? I know how hard it is to walk consecutive 50+km days with a pack on, I could only do it after the halfway point on the TA (1.5 months of conditioning). It also takes a while to dial in your gear, as the weight of your pack has a huge effect on your body as you would know. If you had just come off of a thru hike and were walking 50+km days, I would not be surprised, but given the fact that your getting blisters, suggests that your feet are not use to the beating. Hats off to you boys if your walking 50+km days straight out of the gate! Most people would not appreciate how hard it is to back it up haha.... Love your work.

Yeah mate it wasn’t easy at all. We had put a lot of training in(smaller hikes, 20k steps everyday ect) in the lead up but also just had to grit our teeth. 50kms took us between 10-12 hours and then we would sleep for 10 hours or so so not much time for anything else. Still really enjoyed the whole trek(expect for the blisters) and was fairly manageable.

Hi Cam, great video- what an epic journey! I Have been enjoying watching your journey on tiktok too. You might have already covered this- but why do you guys prefer more of a running style shoe instead of a traditional hiking shoe?
@CamBostock
@CamBostock 2 года назад
I actually swapped into a mid hiking boot after the first week. I used the trail runner to get through the wet stuff - better drainage and dries faster. Mackenzie used a trail runner the whole hike - just preferred the minimal feel and lightness. I think runners are just quicker as well which suited usZ

Do the huts have power to charge your camera/ phone etc?
@CamBostock
@CamBostock 2 года назад
Unfortunately not. We had to recharge them in towns. Usually only just had enough battery to get us from town to town.

@@CamBostock wow that would’ve been a stretch! Maybe a solar powered battery pack would be handy for you mate! Not sure if you’re aware but the old aeroplane mode on the iPhone does wonders for saving battery!

I have a 15 watt solar panel I drape over my backpack. It's usually able to get everything fully charged by the end of the day. Bit of a luxury though

Are you in WA - you should have a go. If you're starting from Perth, it doesn't start to get too serious til you get to Perth Hills Discovery Centre. Then you have to start doing overnighters.
