Present day, Tadej Pogacar is the best rider in the world, we can't compare present pro - cycling with pro - cycling from 1965 - 1980 ,but to do what Eddy Merckx did on the 3 grand tours (1 Vuelta - 5 Giros - 5 Tours ,with a total of 65 stage wins ! In the classics Merckx still is the only rider who has won the 5 monuments at least 2 times each with the amount of top riders nowadays who will win 2× Giro de Lombardia, 2 × Tour de Flanders, 3 × Paris - Roubaix , 5 × Liège Bastogne Liège , 7 × Milano - San Remo, it's just crazy one day races, multiple stage races, no doubt Eddy Merckx has his place forever in the history books, and some of his records won't be beaten in the next 2, 3 decades!!
