As a local from cabo i can say all of these are absolutly true and its sad because they afect everybody. Specially watch out for taxis they overcharge you all the time. This kind of videos are really helpfull to would be tourists that wish to visit our beautiful town. Also dont change currencies in the airport , they give you way less because they claim they have to pay a fee. Just wait and change currencies at a exchange house.

As a born and raised in Los Cabos you are totally right about the timeshare people at the airport. The sad thing is that even the airport authorities allow them to harass all the tourists arriving. There are so many honest ways to earn money, as you said just smile and ignore and do not say anything

Thank you for sharing your local perspective on this. It's always valuable to hear from those who are born and raised in the area. It's unfortunate when a few negative experiences or interactions overshadow the many beautiful and positive aspects of a place. Your advice to "just smile and ignore" is a simple yet effective strategy for many tourists. It's my hope that with enough feedback and awareness, improvements can be made for both the local community and the visitors. Safe travels and thanks again for your insight.
@TravelDroner
@TravelDroner Год назад
Absolutely! It's crucial to remember that experiences can vary widely. While some people may have found certain timeshare presentations pushy or lengthy, others might have had genuinely informative and even enjoyable interactions. Thanks for highlighting that not all presentations are problematic. It's a good reminder for travelers to approach situations with an open mind while still being cautious. Your feedback offers a more balanced view for those considering attending such presentations. Safe travels!

Reserve a car. They cost a little more than a taxi but chances are the car will be a newer Suburban, most likely they will provide you with some free beers, if you want to stop somewhere briefly to pick up a few supplies they will wait for you. The shuttle bus is a total bummer. They stop at every hotel and resort. You might get lucky and be at the front of all that or you could be on that bus for a long time.

Also, if you rent a car, when you go to fill up all the gas stations are full service. They have a couple of scams here as well. First, make sure the pumps are set to zero before they start pumping gas into your car. Second, when you go to pay, sometimes they will try to switch out the money you gave them. For example, let's say you gave the service guy a 500-peso bill for gas. What he'll try to do when you hand them the money is quickly switch it out for a 50-peso bill and say you only gave them 50 pesos instead of 500 pesos. I think that happened to me on my first trip to Cabo. The next time we went to Cabo, we were aware of the scam and caught a service guy trying to do it. He didn't put up a fight when we called him out on it.

Thank you for sharing this crucial insight. It's disheartening to hear that such scams exist, especially in popular tourist destinations. Hope the rest of your trip was enjoyable, and you had some positive takeaways from Cabo as well. Safe travels!

I would add the renting a car is more expensive when you add on the insurance but I just consider it part of the cost. If you do get in a accident using your credit card insurance is a big pain and yes they will pressure you to buy their insurance but lately I've just been getting it all online with Hertz Mexico online so at least I know how much I have to pay without any pressure at the desk. Still cheaper than taxis and way more convenient even for local driving if you like to venture out daily . I paid $400 bucks for 7 days for a medium sized SUV

Last week, Yes it happens, our nightmare with these people began at airport just before exiting to pick up our rental car, our biggest mistake was not wanting to be rude, we got pulled and we got offers about tours and free breakfast at some other Resort not ours. We got stuck at this resort all morning, a boring looong hotel tour, simple dumb breakfast, next taken to a room were it all got worse! This --Time Share brain washing, we eventually got up and left once we couldn't stand it no more, couldn't get them to leave us alone or take a "We are Not interested" answer. And if you represent the Mayan Palace make sure you don’t go for less than 400.00 bucks. I’ve gotten that much at least 3 times. Squeeze those turds for as much as you can get out of them. One thing I would add is, never buy any activities from hotels they are a rip-off "if you don't have all-inclusive". There are activities booths all around and you can haggle to get better deals you can save over half of what you would have spent, and you help out the locals instead of the scummy resorts. @Bell_420
@Bell_420 Месяц назад
@@kristenkachelmeier6808 it will be cheaper if you buy it from a OPC aka a timeshare salesman because you can haggle to get the price down they normally, they can drop it down by like 30% and still make a little money, so if you know that you can take advantage. Make sure you don't let them trick you into going to a presentation, and stay away from the guys at the airport, they will scam you. It's hard because in order to save money you have to trust someone to book you for the right activity, and not everyone who sells them is honest. If you want to make sure you get what you pay for you can book at the resort or from a trusted OPC that works for a resort but out of house like in a store or something you can find both that sell activities most of them can't scam you because you can get them in trouble if you go back and complain to the store managers. Also, it is not cheaper to book directly with the companies, they will always charge you full price no matter what. You can find deals online, but you probably won't and even if you do, you won't know it because everyone says they have deals but just charge full price and say it's on sale even if it's not. If you book at resort you will not get deals.

While it can seem a bit overwhelming initially, much like any popular tourist spot, many find the experience worth it. Thank you for sharing your insider perspective. It's enlightening to hear from someone who's been on the other side of the timeshare presentations. It's true that if presented transparently and honestly, many people might see the value in attending such presentations for the discounts and benefits, especially when on a vacation where expenses can quickly add up. It's all about setting clear expectations and being forthright with potential attendees. Your approach of honesty seems like a win-win for both sides. It's understandable why you'd want to avoid the area as much as possible now. Your comment highlights an important issue that many popular tourist destinations face over time. It's a delicate balance between growth, tourism, and maintaining the authentic character that originally drew people in. Okay I just got back from Cabo San Lucas a few days ago and I wanted to ask what can I do if I've already used my credit card a bunch of times I had two credit cards that I used while I was down there in case they make clones or whatever else you're saying in the videos since it hasn't been a month or six weeks or anything besides just going through all the charges and looking at them is there anything else that I can do to not have to pay bogus charges because I can't remember every place that I went to where I made small purchase charges with my credit card? I did use a jet ski but they never said anything about scratches on it so I didn't get scammed for any damages that I didn't owe on, I did take part in something that appeared to be a timeshare but apparently they didn't have enough representatives to do the tour and I still got the free offers that they offered with the timeshare so I didn't end up wasting hours of my time they did say that it would be a two hour process to go through the timeshare or related presentation but as it turned out that I wasn't given the tour and I just got the free parasail and discounted jet skis as well as free breakfast at the resort.

I’m here right now. It’s a great place to visit. Just know how to say no, especially to vendors. Vendors will try to charge you through the nose for items that are 60 percent cheaper other places. My third time in Mexico and I get aggressive if they try and convince me to buy something after I’ve already said no. That part pisses me off.

Depends on how much you plan to use the car and where you plan to use it. If you are going to the Pacific side (Sunset Pueblo Bonito), be prepared for some really congested driving when you leave the central tourist section of Cabo.

I agree with renting local. Try to find a well reviewed local place online and make sure you take a THOROUGH video of the car. This advice is pretty consistent in all the places I have rented cars in Mexico. You get quotes one low price online, only to find that this is not even close to the price when you arrive. I say “thorough” because we almost missed our flight messing around with this local rental company outside of Chetumal Airport. They were literally pulling at the hub caps and showing how they were pulled away from the tire a bit and trying to say it’s our fault. My boyfriend often makes the mistake of thinking that since he’s a cool, Spanish speaking Mexican dude that no one will try to rip him off, just white people like me, lol. But he was proven wrong in Chetumal, and I knew from the get-go that those eager to help us outside the airport were not 100% legit. But what do I know… I’m just a white woman in Mexico. 🙄 Yes, but I also do my research and know that just because someone looks/sounds like me and is nice ri me doesn’t mean they won’t rip me off.

. Walk right thru the airport, take a cab, a Van outside, a little expensive but no stops except for you, if lucky may find others to share costs. Grab a beer before leaving airport as it's bout a half hour drive to downtown. If you eat and drink do as the Mexicans do (when in Rome...) and if you want to do the jet skis, diving, off roading etc arrange at your hotel. If at Medano Beach, 2 things, there is a guy who sells tamales on the beach about twice a week, they're GOOD!, and for jewelry things Juan, an older silver haired guy (been there forever , ask for him) he is honest. Don't buy pot on the beach, (small amounts are legal} bring from home!, Cabo is safe and like most everywhere : use your head!!. $2k to 4k pesos is a good number unless spending a lot shopping (buy you Cabo Wabo souveniers at the flea markets and save!. At the back of Cabo Wabo there is a plaza, the resuarant has excellent cheap mexican food and the nearby patio bar (outside) is one of my favorite places. (M & Co.) Too, the medical facilities are better than our U.S. hospitals and a hell of a lot cheaper. If there for a longer time rent a car (max insurance!!) and do the loop of Toto Santos and La Paz, worth it. Wife and I have stood in Tiennamen Square, been in a flood in Venezia, I almost died (respitory infection) in Belize, blah, blah, blah, and Cabo remains our favorite place since the mid 90's and have a time share on Medano Bech and love it. Just enjoy and don't be an "ugly Americasn!"

Oops! : do the “loop”” La Paz” rent a car, ((neither all that great for kids! and better for a 2 week stay. Medano Beach is probably the best, safest beach for kids. Staff at your hotel can answer any questions in English. With kids take an afternoon cruise (not the “Sunset tequila cruises” but “take one”if you can ditch the kids!!!) Dramamine a good idea for kids. No matter what you do or see it will be memorable. Make certain a phone has International access, in case. Take pictures!!! Again Avoid the time share sellers! Just adamantly day “NO!” and walk away(fast!)they are relentless.

Ummm… I do those time share presentations from the airport every time I go to Cabo. It usually takes an hour. I’ll get a good meal and drinks. And about $400 worth excursions. Once I even got them to give me $300 cash. This isn’t a scam at all
@TravelDroner
@TravelDroner Год назад
I understand that you have had positive experiences with timeshare presentations, but it's important to consider the broader perspective. While some individuals may benefit from the incentives offered during these presentations, it's worth noting that the sales tactics used in the timeshare industry have raised concerns and criticism from many consumers. Many people feel that time-share presentations can be misleading, high-pressure, and designed to exploit vulnerabilities. The promise of free meals, drinks, and excursions can often overshadow the long-term financial commitment and potential limitations associated with timeshare ownership, especially if it involves floating time instead of fixed weeks. Additionally, the difficulty of checking in and the limited availability of desirable dates are frequent complaints. It's important to approach these presentations with caution and thoroughly research the terms and conditions before making any decisions. As with any major financial commitment, consulting with a trusted financial advisor or lawyer is advisable to fully understand the implications of entering into a timeshare agreement.
