I like how everytime she goes to make a big realisation, she brushes it off with a joke or a snide comment. "I never found out, what it was I- tastes like vegetables I don't like!" She can't acknowledge what's causing her so much suffering because if she even takes it seriously, everything breaks. But vegetables are good for you, they give you nutrients. Alarm Clocks wake you up to face the day! She has the gift, but can't open the box. She wants what's inside but it takes so much strength to open it up. Only with the support of people who tell her that she'll be alright can she do it.

those comments are also stuff that people kinda push on you, eating vegetables, having alarm clocks that are unpleasant but needed to be on time, and opening presents only when its the right time (christmas and stuff). "I'm the one to blame" Notice how this line changes as the song progresses. At first it sounds dissonant and uncertain, then the minor key gradually drops out, making it sound more accepting and sure. By the end it's almost completely tuned out, and finally replaced by much more positive lyrics.

Not to mention, at the end the "I'm the one to blame" line completely switches over to the background singers while line "I can feel the light, even as the sun goes down" directly mirrors the line "I want to be a light for someone to follow" from Roar of the Spark, Ky's theme. The final reprise of the chorus is literally a musical recreation of the Extreme Ending in Bridget's Arcade Mode.

When it switches to the backing singers, it's much quieter and only in the major key, which makes me think of a distant but positive memory. Re: "I can feel the light, even after the sun goes down"; I didn't catch the mirroring with Ky's theme or the extreme ending - that's a really nice connection! I just figured it was a reference to the previous line "The night falls, the place where I belong" - i.e. night (the moon) being a symbol of femininity; where Bridget finally finds her voice and happiness.

And the best part is that all three interpretations can all be valid at the same time.

While I'm not sure how I feel about it in-game, I like how it starts laidback and more casual than the rest of the themes, only to get more triumphant and bombastic by the latter half, as if Bridget is gaining more confidence as time goes on

I've been thinking about the structure of the song and honestly it kind of matches the ending progression in her arcade route. In the normal ending (throw the first round and you're on it) she is very uncertain and worried and hesitant. This really is a great reflection of the first part of the song. Then we get into the hard ending where she actually has the moment of awareness and confident proclamation that she is a girl. Then as it moves through the remix of her original theme, this reflects the extreme ending as she learns from KY how to let her family know and to reassure them it wasn't anything they did. Which bookends her early lore of having to present and her parents worrying about her suffering as a child as a result of it. The song ends triumphant and the extreme ending ends on an extremely optimistic note of her being ready to face what comes next. I think in a way, the song is a spoiler and guide for the routes themselves.

@@SpinningTurtle66 The first route is the normal route. It's where Bridget is uncertain about how to actually address the matter and is hesitant to proceed. It's not the route where she comes out. But the route where she openly expresses her ears and says "I have some thinking to do" You get this route if you lose a round in your first match. The hard end is when she comes out and it's because she has the confidence to. And the extreme route is her trying to figure out how to come out to her family and friends. The normal end is kind of overlooked in all of this but it really does set the tone for what this whole arc is about lol. None are really contradictory. But rather answering different aspects of the same question.

I’ve heard people say Bridget is now a girl, I’ve heard people say that she’s returned to being a guy, but then her outfit has an androgynous symbol on it. Notice how the song starts the beat is thunderous and loud, indicating turmoil, like it’s trying to be masculine and tough with all the bass and boom, but isn’t quite correct, but as the singer starts to air her frustrations in each verse the chorus gets less boomy and bass, until it’s gone and sounds Ore triumphant and clear like the song knows what it wants to be. Just like Bridget. That’s an entire life story in a song

The alarm clock line is about how we go so much of our lives just playing along with the gender we were assigned at birth, not knowing why it irks us so much until our eventually trans awakening.

It makes sense when you look at the Japanese XX bio and learn she only wanted to do any of that so her parents could stop feeling guilty. It recontextualizes things a bit compared to the western version of the bio. She was trying to be a boy for the sake of other people, growing doing things just for others to pursuing her own happiness feels like a good way to end it and turns the off screen moment where she did get rid of the superstition into a turning point in the arc rather then the end of it.

@@clinch4402 While I can see the logic behind that interpretation, the lyrics are a metaphor for gender dysphoria. “I hate the alarm clock I chose”, “it tastes like vegetables I don’t like”, even the chorus of “the town inside me, and everyone’s voice, only I’m not there, just watching from afar”, not to mention the repeated mentions of the grey haze. They’re all metaphors for the gender dysphoria she felt, hence why the final verse (with her finally accepting herself) is so much more triumphant

I never found out what it was I-". the grey haze is dysphoria and just when she is trying to describe and accept it, she switches to blaming literally anything else. stress, her alarm clock, her food, ect. then the next time it's mentioned she finally takes the grey haze on directly and "paint [it] sky blue". declaring she isnt gonna change who she is for anyone else, that she know who she is("i know who you are", referring to her true identity) and she isn't gonna run from her truth again.

It's more she come to terms with her life. She set out originally to prove that she wasn't a burden to her hometown because of a superstition that identical twins were a sign of bad omen for the town she came from. Her parents forcibly raised her as a girl. She basically had gender dysphoria but in the opposite direction. She did all the things she said she would do to prove something to someone else. This song is her coming to terms that she doesn't have to prove herself to anyone to be happy.

I love this song so much. I feel like this pretty much perfectly captures her journey in one beautiful song. Brisket has been trying to define herself for her entire life, and so having her be able to find her true self here is so sweet it makes me cry every time I hear it (admittedly this does make having her as my main in strive a little difficult). She has worked so hard to find her way in life, and while I understand that this is a fictional character it still gives me hope that maybe one day I could do the same thing that she has

The story-telling that takes place in each song in GG: Strive is such a phenomenal way to get newcomers of the series invested in these characters. This song perfectly portrays Bridget's story of confidence and self-love overtime. Bravo GG: Strive, bravo.

Not even just bridget, but everyones personality and mental struggles are represented perfectly by the songs. Jack-o just wants to do nice things with sol, zato's song is so long that you only hear the emotional part where he finally finds the ability to feel again possibly with millia, sol's theme perfectly represents how he doesn't ever strike first, he literally STRIKE BACK's against those that attack him and those he cares about, and so on. And giovanna's is basically "Fuck you" but in the "Why am I here" way, the song, she doesn't want to get involved in this sort of thing.

I think my favorite thing about this song is the way it builds up and incorporates more instruments every time the chorus comes through - like Bridget slowly gaining confidence in their own identity leading up to that triumphant orchestral sweep; she’s stopped running and fully accepted herself, as always GGST themes have amazing storytelling!

So here's the thing: if Bridget was any other character, them being transgender would be more easily acceptable within the G.G. fandom- hell, I think Testament being non-binary was received well enough because it fit into their character arc of self-discovery. Bridget is different, because Bridget being trans is unironically "problematic" when taken within the context of their character arc and story. Bridget was born male in a village that believed that having same-sex twins was a bad omen, so his parents said he was a girl and raised him to be one for his entire life. However, at this time Bridget still considered himself to be male, how he was born, and wanted to be recognized as a man in order to prove the superstitions of his village and family wrong. In so doing, his character arc used this motivation to give him agency and a goal to strive for. Based off of this information, the logical progression for Bridget would be for him to continue down this path of self affirmation, but instead they decided to have Bridget come out as transgender. The reason this is a problem for some is that it can be argued that Bridget was brainwashed or even groomed into becoming a girl. The development contradicts her previous character arc, wanting to dispell her village's superstitions about same sex twins and be recognized for who they really were, and instead she has become the very thing that everyone else wanted her to be. Rather than Bridget being recognized for the man he is, one who did not conform to gender norms thanks to his upbringing, she has instead succumbed to peer pressure and possibly accepted the role that the world wanted her to have. That's my interpretation of the issue, anyway.

For such an upbeat sounding song, it actually has some sad but hopeful lyrics. It kind of embodies Bridget's life from the time she was born, having to take on a false identity to protect her family, to being able to fully realize exactly who and what she is. This game really has effort put into it from top to bottom.

@@P-nk-m-na with gender dysphoria being the theme as a whole which, even then, I think it’s open enough to be more about growing up or finding yourself in an entirely different way, that the meaning can apply to both. Also it’s a pretty commonly known binary that blue typically represents boys and pink represents girls. The lyric also drops at the big turning point of the song which lines up with that being Bridget’s big preference. You should really stop making Bridget taste like vegetables he doesn’t like and call him what he wants to be called since the day he was born. A guy.
