Personally, I like it when Transformers turn into mundane vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I loved Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as much as anybody, but Lamborghinis aren't exactly the best alt-modes if you're trying to not draw attention to yourself. Give me a school bus, a forklift, a garbage truck, a shitty little sedan. They help bring variety and personality.
I really think they should make more alt modes like this, because, you know, they are "ROBOTS IN DISGUISE" not "Robots That Turn Into the Flashiest Vehicles Known to Man".
Oh my god this brings me back.. my mom almost got a Chevy Aveo when this was happening, I have this toy!… and my mom never got an Aveo, she opted for a Saturn
Honestly, the robot mode reminds me of some of those animations that came out around this time of people making their own transforming robots out of regular everyday cars. It was usually the videos of them like dancing to a beat and then going back into vehicle mode.
Honestly this figure was aesthetically everything I like in a transformer. Basically every part of the body being made up of the car parts is like my favorite thing.
Not to be that guy, but I wanted this toy so fucking bad. When it was out and you could get it, people were asking for 70 dollars on ebay, as a 15 year old that was inaccessible. I still love the transformation. I love the way the wheels go into the chest, and genuinely would love to see this transformation replicated.
As a mundane vehicle owner, I do love the idea of just mundane car Transformers! I remember getting this at a local collector's "moving out of state, purging everything" garage sale for 5 bucks cash. It's got such a history and probably the most unique toy in my collection still.
I am incredibly proud to own a copy of Aveo Swerve, and I actually got mine from Chevrolet: there was a mall kiosk that was giving these out if you entered a contest for Chevy, so I gave them a horrible amount of personal info just to get one for "free". Didn't realize how rare it was until years afterwards, but glad I noticed the booth guy handing one out, lol. (Also genuinely a great transformer, the robot mode is decently articulated and so *clean*, I love it)
Now I am grateful a fan of mine sold his for a reasonable price, he’s a good addition to the ‘real licensed car transformers that are not The Movies ‘ collection’
would have made an amazing trooper type bot, paint it white with 2 silver copies as side kicks with different weapons and could have made an awesome army builder with slightly different heads and detailed bits
In a similar vein to your Aaron Archer Swerve, my prized possession is an internal test shot of 2007 Cliffjumper, which I got (in a roundabout fashion) from its TakaraTomy designer.
I would actually want to buy this, i Like when transformers are not luxury vehicles or vehicles that call too much attention, i like the simplicity of it
I like it. It's very much bayverse video game in design and doesn't look too out of place alongside older movie toys, but also works with the classics and universe toys of the day
I have this. I got this off Ebay around that time. Probably for a decent price. I wish it did have bicep swivel and a proper ankle tilt. I do like the bot mode and the realistic alt mode.
I want more everyday transformer cars there just so cool to me like making cliffjumper a dodge charger which isnt really a everyday car but its not a supercar like a lambo, or making the datsuns like sadans and prowl a old square police car like that big bumblebee barricade, or just making Ironhide a van type car like the universe one but way better
I miss those times when they put extra characters that weren’t on the movie, instead of making the 1step, a gimmick one, a bigger gimmick one, a small gimmick one, the deluxe and the SS studio series deluxe of the same character (like bumblebee)
The engineering, transformation, and play value are great for the time. The only issues is the alt mode is the most basic generic car and the asinine distribution.This could've sold big to kids and collectors if they chose a better alt mode and marketed it to the people that actually care about transformers instead of everyone that test drove a car.
In my country it is not common to see sports cars (at least where I live) so 4-door cars or "sedans" are more familiar to me. I love when they use these types of cars in transformers and the engineering of this figure seems perfect to me
The hobby shop where I got mine originally sold it for USD 70, and I bought it when it was marked down to 35 USD because no one bought it for years... 😅😅😅
Honestly, I really like the arms, legs and how it cleans up (especially the way the wheels go under the chest). The chest being the entire front car just makes it look like a knockoff.
Looks like a early 2000s car add. It’s is actually really cool I wish companies would do stuff like this more often. Just saw the rare shelf and wait the CW leokaiser is rare? I actually got that figure in a sale at the forbidden planet in London a few years back lol.
Having transformers be “boring vehicles” honestly for me is the best part about transformers because they are supposed to be every day cars and vehicles that you wouldn’t assume be giant robots.
I had this guy way back when you got it for test drives. I really liked him but had to narrow down my collection (Bay-verse didn’t make the cut). If you consider him Bayverse, he was one of my favorites.
When i saw the thumbnail I was like “wait didn’t he already do a review of this guy?” because I was thinking of bayverse swindle. They look simailr, but Swerve has a way better design than swindle.
I had this! My first new car was a black 2004 Aveo Hatchback so I was actually really excited to get this back in the day. Not sure what happened to it though... Probably sold it off with my movie figures...
So looking in to the Aveo, it wasn't a terrible car but it had it's issues. But if you took good care of it, apparently it could easily last 200K miles, crazy for a Chevy car of the 2010s lol. I would still love to have this figure! But on Ebay it's very expensive. Wish we test drove it during that time lol.
I love how Hasbro puts robots into daily driver cars as side characters that are somehow caught but the huge mad max Megatron was able to stay in hiding as long as he wanted to. #justiceforthemundane!!
my only problem with this is the amount of clear plastic. deffo should have gone with painted and it wouldnt show the robot bits trough the windows. other than that this is pretty awesome
Que/Wheeljack definitely did not turn into an ordinary car. The prop car was a modified 2011 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, more powerful than the Camaro Bumblebee uses. The toy did not do the car justice, unfortunately.
I can´t understand why no one wants this figure, looks amazing, don´t have a lot of kibble, imagine this, the car mode is similar as jolt, so this figure could be a great custom of jolt
