I love Stannis but he did not understand his brother at all. Robert gave him Dragonstone because he was the next in line to the throne and because Storm’s End was where he had to eat rats to keep from starving to death. This would be like if Wills got mad at Charles for making him Prince of Wales not Prince of Windsor.

Great video! Though I would disagree that Stannis hated his brothers. Sure, he said he hated them out of anger and spite and he was slighted by Robert, in particular. But let’s not forget some other moments of the books that the show of course took out. “I have a duty to my daughter. To the realm. Even to Robert. He loved me but little, I know, yet he was my brother. The Lannister woman gave him horns and made a motley fool of him. She may have murdered him as well, as she murdered Jon Arryn and Ned Stark. For such crimes there must be justice.” Stannis was still loyal to his brother after his death. He wanted to deliver justice to those who wronged him. “If he had done his duty by his brother, we would have smashed Lord Tywin. A victory even Robert could be proud of.” Stannis still thinks of making Robert proud even after his death. And then we have Stannis’ monologue about Renly: “Only Renly could vex me with a piece of fruit. He brought his doom on himself with his treason, but I did love him, Davos. I know that now. I swear, I will go to my grave thinking of my brother’s peach.” Stannis loved his brothers. That love was just never reciprocated.

Minor nitpick, Blackfyres are a cadet branch, not a rouge branch. I would say their only tragedy is Renly being easily manipulated as a Tyrell puppet for the Crown, the rest is more or less average for a House.

@5:12 There's not really much to suggest Rogar objected to Jaehaerys and Alysanne's marriage for religious reasons (that was mainly Septon Matheus' bluster.) Rogar, like Alyssa, objected for political reasons. Rogar, like Alyssa, really wanted to avoid another civil war, especially considering the last civil war had JUST ENDED and the Faith of the Seven's militant orders had disbanded basically 5 minutes ago. They worried that the king entering into an incestuous marriage so soon after the Faith Militant War would cause all the old wounds to just open up again with the pious Westerosi. And fair enough, that definitely could have been exactly what happened, had it not been for the fact that Jaehaerys was a skilled politician and preemptively won the propaganda battle with his Seven Speakers, which meant that he didn't need to fight an actual war
