Unironically had a Homebrew Iron Hands successor chapter called the "Onyx Nagas" with the warcry "Deeds Endure!" When I was younger. They still loved getting augments but only got them if they "earned" it in battle.

For an Imperium that claims to fight for humanity, it's disheartening just how many within it view humanity as a flaw to be removed 😟

The reasons I love the Iron Hands more then any other chapter is because of how human they are. They were, betrayed, lost their dad, got depressed, and started cutting themselves. An entirely human response to trauma. They show that no matter how much you try to engineer the humanity out of a person. Pieces of it still shine through. The desire to not fail your family and ultimately yourself is a core piece of what we are.

Saddest part is that it was because the were so detached from their humanity that they couldn't handle the loss of their primarch, who while a douche was still a loving father, a harsh one but the point stands. Ones fought to retain his memory, others wanted the pain to go away.

I actually made an Iron Hands successor chapter that broke off from the Iron boys because they began to question the beliefs of the chapter and got involved in a civil war with the chapter. After the war, they and the Sons of Medusa chapter were then made independent chapters from the Iron hands. My fan chapter is called the Storm Heralds, paying homage to the origins of the 10th legion. They believe that while the flesh is weak, the spirit of the warrior isn’t. Those who rely on augmentation solely are weak in body and soul, while those who manage to succeed without augmentation are truly strong, as are those who have been forced to become augmented because of injury(prosthetics and dreadnoughs) because they use the technology to allow them to continue fighting and fulfill their duty.

Unfortunately Majorkill, you are incorrect. The Iron Hands had the largest contingent of Shattered Legions, not because they were the toughest, but because the majority were not at Isstvan. When Fulgrim attempted to turn Ferrus, and failed, the Emperor's Children opened fire and crippled the Iron Hands fleet. Receiving the order to proceed to Isstvan, Ferrus took one clan-company and the fastest, most intact ships. Warned that he was ordered to rendezvous with his entire legion, Ferrus replied that he would not show up late, the rest would have to catch up as they could. Many Iron Hands would show up during the massacre, and be lost in orbit, but many more would escape or be warned off. The Iron Hands were done an immense disservice by the decision to start the Heresy series at Isstvan. If Black Library had spent more time on the Great Crusade, we could have seen more of what makes each legion great

I hear Iron Hands I am happy. I recently decided that I want my marines to be iron hands, and can hard agree with you in the sense that it is a shame they don’t get more love.

I know this I'm probably the only one to say this but the iron hands were and still are my favorite, ferrus isn't my favorite primarch because dead on like the first day but in the crusade he was my #1.

it was such a hard choice for me between starting Raven Guard or Iron Hands. I ended up deciding with a coinflip, and it landed on Raven Guard. But I appreciate the Iron Hands for what they are, and theres more depth to them than people let on.

Mate I absolutely love your Iron Hands content. Other content creators out here don’t seem to understand them or recognise their significance. They are a very neglected chapter and deserve some fresh lore and rules that parallel their abilities in 8th and 9th edition.

One way or another every legion that survived the heresy has a tragedy. The Iron Hands tragedy is deep down they see themselves as flawed. They define themselves by the pain of being flawed, and they mutilate themselves to try to numb it.

They may be on the wrong path but they are loyal and unbreakable. These guys will fight to the last Marine to get the job done!

I’ve been shadowing the iron hands for a long while, but after learning more about them and Ferrus manus, they have became one of my favorite first founding chapters and Ferrus manus probably being my top 3rd favorite primarch. He was highly respected by his brothers due to his traits of being a warlord, a tactician, strategist, smith and just one hell of a fighter. Both of his fights with Fulgrim were closer than people realize. He lost the first one because Fulgrim recovered faster from the explosion of Fireblade, leaving Fulgrim to knock him out while he was prone. The second was in his favor and would’ve killed Fulgrim if the laer blade didn’t respond on its own and took his head. If Ferrus would’ve survived, he either would’ve died an honorable death later, but his sons would’ve honored his teachings, or would’ve played a major role into leading humanity to a better future. It’s such a shame that he had to die the way he did at such an early time. Him and the iron hands deserved better and would love to see his return.

What if the Iron Fathers encountered a Man of Iron? They might see it as the ultimate goal of what they want to be ... a living machine of humanity. And the Man of Iron might think that they could be manipulated and therefore useful. Or at least not immediately homicidal towards an Ai. Who knows, prehaps one of the Iron Fathers is secretly a Man of Iron, hiding in plain sight.

GW needs to give Iron Hands some love. Relaunch the chapter with a silver primary color, and a bright bold secondary like orange, red, or purple. Say the new colors represent revenge for Manus. Then, have the chapter master wear a suped up warsuit. Make him both peak man and peak machine.

Majorkill is a fascinating study on creating your own opportunities out of the tiniest beginning. I'll never forget watching the very first time he did Warhammer lore I've been here since 6 or 7 thousand subs and the growth and change has been something really cool to see.

Would be interesting to get more 40k books on them, I read one a few years ago that was pretty solid, but obviously painted them as uncaring automatons, but it would be cool to get an omnibus that gives a ton of background on how they operate in the current setting, and how they interact with successors. Since primaris are around now it would be cool to see how they integrate (there probably already is some stuff out there)

Iron Hands are my 3rd fave faction. It goes Death Guard, Space Wolves then IH. I do see why theyre not popular, but I love their personality. Really resonates with me.

Here are some for consideration: What if every Astartes Legion staged a coup on the Emperor and took over the Imperium? How would they rule it and how successful would it be, compared to the canon Imperium? What if 2 Primarchs held the Warmaster position cooperatively, under the assumption that those who would take issue at one Warmaster would respect the other one more and they could thus overall be more productive? Which nonhuman species would be the best fit for Chaos to take over and attain galactic dominance? If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors? What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids? What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes? What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium? What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged? How would each Heresy/Crusade-era Primarch and Legion fare against the modern Tau Empire? What if one of the Primarchs landed on a xenos world and was raised by them? What if the Eldar managed to kill Angron before he was enslaved? What if another power rose to power during M31 instead of the Imperium, such as the Ullanor Orks, the Rangdan, or the Necrons via the Silent King returning early? What if the Beast Orks grew to threaten the Imperium before the Heresy could happen? What if the Tyranids arrived in M31, before the Heresy could happen?

Welp with the sale i think its finally time to start painting minis, not to mention the chaotic legions can work nicely as dnd models

Have been considering my own home-brew Iron Hands successor chapter /or/ special company, with even closer ties to Mars. Swap the black for Mars red (i.e. techmarine colours for all!!), and call them 'the Iron Pilgrims' !! ...I should really get back to work .

A video about, what if there were no loyalist elements in the traitor legions ,this would also count for omegon and magnus. So there would be no need for the culling at isthvaan and weakening of the traitor forces.. this would be very intresting to see what all the effects would be on the succes of the heresy.

It's funny because I love the Iron Hands BECAUSE they are the grimmest of the darkest chapter around. They are the least "good guys" of loyalist, and really, calling the Imperium "good guys" is quite the stretch... They are tragic and nuanced and fuckin BAD ASS. I like that they are the last chapter you would want to see show up to "rescue" your hive city from a chaos cult. They would most certainly see it done, but you regular human guard would be used as fodder and distractions so they can strike where they need to. And there is a good chance the remaining rescued population would be executed for being too weak and allowing themselves to be tainted by chaos. You left out my FAVORITE part of IH lore .... The Keys ov Hel!!! Uhhhh heretical cyborg zombie ghola marines hel-bent(pun intended)on extracting vengeance against the traitors at all costs?? SIGN ME UP! That being said, I love pre Herasey IH and Ferrus and Shadrack Meduson, and I wouldn't be against a bit of a redemption arch for them in 40k... Though I would prefer it to be tragic or bittersweet at least. Wayyyyy too under utilized by GW and the potential for awesomeness is NOT recognized!! My 2 favorite chapters are Raven Guard and Iron Hands. Been rebuilding my Space Marines and decided to dedicate it to themes. Heavy stuff and vehicles go to the son of Ferrus and Stealthy and light armored vehicles to my sons of Corax.

What i learned recently is that an iron hand killed a noise marine because they were deaf so i can imagine them adding volume/hearing aids in their ears just so they can turn off the noise so they can counter this.

The way the Iron hands acted after ferrus died is similar to how real people grief. The emotional pain is too much, too heavy to bear, so they cut out emotion entirely to avoid pain.

After the "Big E" and "Raven Lord Traitor Hunter" models, the next "first-arch" That Major minis needs to release is "Steel Hands" with two head options: on or off

A topic for a video idea - who or what has the emporer been through the ages of man? For instance, we know there are hints that he was Alexander the Great, he was certainly an Argonaut, possibly Gilgamesh etc. I think exploring the emporers actions through history and how that relates to our reality is exciting. I like the idea of tying in real world legends and myths into the 40k universe and, in fact, find it an endearing part of the franchise. It is something I wish more lore tubers would dive into.

I have an Iron Hands successor chapter that I've built and love. It's a mix of mostly Iron Hands and a good amount of White Scars. The way I thought about it in my head was that the two forces met as warbands and then formed one big warband after, that would eventually become a successor chapter. Not getting along at first, but the joyful nature of the White Scars eventually winning over the hearts of the Hands and turning them into the chapter they should have been with Ferrus. On the other side, the White Scars would get dope af upgrades to their bikes and vehicles in return. I'd love to show them to anybody that wants. Not sure where to do that though.

I picked the Iron hands 4 years ago. My intro army into 40K. Over 9,000 points later and they look cool AF.

I like how a quote got cut in half and ended up giving the exact opposite message to what was intended. This has happened a lot IRL, with phrases like "the early bird catches the worm", "great minds think alike" and "blood is thicker than water" all being cut down and their meaning reversed and everyone being dumber as a result.

Ferrus got done dirty in The HH but the iron hands have some of the best moments in the heresy. Fighting dinosaurs amidst a chaos invasion for example.

I have an Iron Hands army, they were rad in 9th. Lots of dreadnoughts and predator tanks. I got some cool custom guys with cyber limbs and stuff. I like their high level of mental illness. It's fun.

Killing Ferrus was one of the stupider decisions from the Horus Heresy writers, and they've made a lot of stupid decisions.

I play an iron hands home brew successor chapter. I use to emptiness with there saying the fkesh is weak. I have a degernitive eye condition called kerticonus. Wich had led me to stop painting my minis and after my work life. On top of having asthma and most recently a nerve issue in my left hand. I epthized with wanting to replace the weak parts of me. But after reading more lore and the books with ferris in them I saw them in a new light. The book wrath of iron we fallow iron hands as they slaughter there way through tractor guardsman and eventually chaos daemons. You start feeling bad for the marines as they march on contemplating what it means to be human. Well at least one does. I started feeling bad for them. They were blinded by what they thought there Gene father wanted, when unreality he would be disgusted and enraged to see what they had become. The sad truth is. If ferris came back today, I doubt the clans of the iron hands would even bend the knee to him. They are so lost. It reminds alot of the Greek tragedies

By accident or design, there is a clue in the legion/Chapter's name. They are the Iron Hands, not the Iron Fists, and hands don't have to be fists. They can make, heal, wave hello, hold another hand, pat a dog... Even a metal hand can do all these things, with enough care. Part of Ferrus' Lads' problem is that they sorely lack an imagination. They don't have to follow this path. They chose it, and now can't imagine any alternative. Perhaps Kardan Stronos will help them regain their souls, or, perhaps, even their imaginations.

I just love Iron Hands cause of bionics and Dreadnoughts and tanks and Techmarines (i LOVE them.) I understand Daddy Manus wouldnt like me, im still waiting for his return.

I just got into army building with the Iron Hands, and it does sadden me that they get shafted so often in the lore and on tabletop. And they sadly won’t get any for a long time likely. Given Ferrus Manus is dead, and other Primarchs are coming back. I’d just be happy for a model of our Chapter Master at this point. (And yes, I know they technically don’t have a CM, but they keep giving the job to the same guy every time.)

I've been slowly getting into Warhammer 40k for the last couple of months, and Space Marines 2 felt like the perfect opportunity to learn the lore and get into while the hype and content was high. Ive alway thought Tech Priests were cool as fuck and decided I wanted to choose a chapter with a close relationship to them. And who better than the Iron Hands. It is a bummer that they are so mistreated, lore wise, but I won't give up on them. Also IDK if im just lucky but I also absolutely love the Knights of Byzantium sub chapter and those guys have no lore what so ever. Hopefully, one day, all will be well, but much like the Iron Council, I'll have to wait and calculate the triumphant return of our beloved chapter

I know this kinda goes against the video, but I'd like it more if the Iron Hands had their own Bjorn, the Fell handed, or even just "special Dreadnought", like how the Blood Angels used to deserve a Librarian Dreadnought no one else could field, despite other Chapters having better psykers. Imagine a cool, ancient Contemptor, or Venerable, who remembers Ferrus, and laments the direction his brothers have taken. I've never totally understood the deal behind the Flesh is Weak. I get that they think it, but a lot of work goes into making a mortal into an Astartes, just to then start lopping off whole quantities of that enhanced flesh, just to replace it with average tech. I'm sure they're not bad at augmetics, but they aren't the Salamanders, or Vostroyana, with artisan tech, or the Dark Angels, with hoarded DAoT specimens. Not to crap on the Raven Guard, and their use of the Raptor Project, bur I almost wish that that lore had gone to the Iron Hands, in such a hurry to recoup their numbers that they would just sweep up aspirants, and instead of slowly sculpting them into Astartes, just "upgrade" them into Servitors who can still reason, and even net a unique unit type, with Chapter serfs who are practically Astartes, but without the gene-seed.
