Actually, Sonic Chronicles Dark Brotherhood expands upon this story. The reason The Knuckles Clan wanted the emeralds is because they were under constant attack by the Nocturnas Clan, who were technologically superior. Hence giving some more validity to Pachacaman's seemingly greedy, warlike nature, which could be seen as desperate.

i cant belive they gave chaos so much emotion even though he dosent talk or even physically show emotion. And in 1998!

I like to think that the reason chaos still makes appearances in future games is because after SA1 he finally started upholding the task of a guardian. The difference is that instead of protecting something ( i.e. knuckles is the current guardian) he instead chooses to protect life, the one thing Tikal wished of him, but understanding that he is a guardian of old and can't really exist for extended periods of time, he uses his borrowed time to strengthen and battle harden the people he sees as the the world's current guardians (sonic, knuckles, tails, ect.).

Tikal is my favorite character along with Cream so I'd LOVE to see her again in the future! 🥰

I'm honestly surprised there's so little content revolving around Tikal as a character, I find her origins and story incredibly interesting, and there's so much to work with in lore. I see plenty of videos, and documents that all go over shadows story in great detail but the love for Tikal is hard to find even when arguably her story is just as dark. It feels like Sega completely forgot about her, heck I think the only time I've seen her in the last like 5 years was the chao in space short and she didn't even talk Sure shadow's character in current game is kinda garbage but add least he's there. I'm really hoping sonic frontiers will do something with tikal, she deserves more spotlight

Chaos and Tikal are very interesting characters and are probably the deepest alongside Shadow and Maria, even if they aren't arguably as tragic as Gamma or Emerl. However, as great of characters as they are, they do not have much purpose in the later games outside of just being there for fan service sake. With that in mind, while SEGA shouldn't forget about these two characters, they don't need to be relevant or in any more Sonic media anymore.

This video and is great, I really love these kinds of deep dives into the lore of franchises I love, and this video really did do chaos and tikal justice. I hadn't seen the rest of this origins series before watching this but now that I saw a few of the other videos, but they're Really good too. I'm now kinda looking forward to the shadow, rouge and cream (specifically with that last one, cream is the best female sonic character, change my mind) video as well as the other non sonic related videos. As a kid Chaos was one of my favorite characters and I was playing played Mario and sonic Olympic Games on the wii and loved the that you could see chaos as an Easter egg in one minigame

You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone other than me to do a video on Tikal (or Chaos for that matter). The video I made on Tikal is almost a year old. Or at least I’m pretty certain I know how to pronounce it but I guess we’ll never know since no character in the games has ever spoken his name. I pronounce the ‘a’s in the second half of his name with an “ah” sound. It’s hard to explain the inflection but I mention his name several times in the video linked above. Or sometimes I nickname him Ol’ Pach. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Tikhaos storyline from the ‘Sonic Universe’ Archie comics. I haven’t read much of Archie myself, especially the older issues, but I thought that particular story was good. Tikal also may have been inspired by a character named Princess Alucion from a one-issue french comic called ‘Sonic Adventures’, which was released 4 years before SA1 and also features a tribe of echidnas. Again, more detail in my video. Tikal is personally my favorite female Sonic character and I would love to see her return in some story-related capacity in a future game or other media. It’s a shame she wasn’t in the second movie even though Pachacamac was in the first one. She could have fit in nicely as a cameo in Knuckles’ flashback to the day he lost his father, but unfortunately she might be dead since the movie says Knuckles is the last echidna. As for Chaos, I think of him like Godzilla. He’ll do what he can to keep the peace, but when someone harms his Chao brethren or wants to abuse the power of the emeralds, he’ll level a city. It’s ironic that Chaos was chosen to be one of Infinite’s illusions, and yet Chaos is a much more complex and interesting villain without even saying a word. Great job as always with this video. I’m interested to check out what you plan on doing with the Donkey Kong and Zelda Origin Oracles.

Those Station Square streets were filled with civilians, mere seconds before the flood hit the city. But when the water rushes in, those same streets are empty. The people of Station Square are canonicaly faster than Sonic. Have fun trying to un-see that.
