Fucking Gordie was the fucking man. No other front man like this lad. Was so lucky and fortunate enough to see them in Syracuse, NY in front of about 2,000 fans. Was unreal.
one of the most unique voices out there, I was so sad when I moved to Texas because The Hip and Sloan don't come down here! Come to Dallas!! you can stay at my house.
Minnesota fan of The Hip since 86', they blew my mind then and have continued my whole life. Several concerts and more music than any other band I own. Miss them all dearly. I'll see ya somewheres down the road Gord.
I'm from the UK and love the mighty 'Hip Over to watch hockey next year in my beloved Canada destination and bringing a suitcase for every damn Hip album/vinyl/book/item I can find Awesome band
Dec 30/22, cranking this one!! It’s killer you found the Mighty Hip in the UK! A much loved band I grew up with!! They got a lot of love in the States also, so amazing live!
south of the border hip fan here. its hard to imagine a canada without gord. i always felt better knowing our neighbors to the north revered such a true artist and poet. who will help us americans decipher candadianess now?
Wow. I found an American with an interest. Last one I met was a Navy SEAL and before that, a machinist in Texas who talked with me about the Quebec issue. That was 25 years ago. So, thank you for complimenting OUR band and keep listening.
Hip fan from the UK Lets bring the US/Canada/UK together musically - from our love of the mighty Hip Sad news indeed about Gord and watched their last concert online Awesome legacy of music
his self imposed mandate was to deciefer canada for the world through poetry. he did just that. greatest canadian ever. we love and miss him so much...its like losing a family member for us. we are crushed. thanx for admiration south of that imaginary line called a border. it means alot to us. believe it. thank you
Rock In Peace Gord. A true Canadian Icon. I’ll always remember the first Hip song I ever heard. Blow At High Dough, it was on an HMV promo tape. My brother met you guys in Eugene Oregon the morning after a concert at your bus a long time ago. You all signed a shirt for him and Gord wrote Evil with an arrow pointing up. Lol. He was at the front of the stage. He and his friends were the only ones that new all the words. Miss ya bro, RIP.
Perfection, I still watch the movie of the last tour and dance and can’t help but cry, it’s like a soul cleansing, you just want to soak their music and energy into every cell of your being, what a band like no other. So much love and heart, they were such a national treasure, I’m so envious of Canada! You had Trudeau and the Hip, while we had Kanye and Trump, LOL! Bless Gord, but he sure left this Earth showered with so much love. His legacy lives on, he made the world a better place.
I Am Their Biggest American Fan! The Hip are brilliant and criminally underrated. Saw them twice in DC! Gordon Downie is amazing and Grace Too my favorite Hip tune. Brilliant Canucks!
Three non Canadians dislikes. If they claim they are Canadian a dislike for the Hip can get your citizenship revoked and you could end up somewhere you won't like even more.
i hope we get a twenty dvd box set offered for Christmas . . .after the summer leg of the MMP tour wraps, re-charge by the lake for a few weeks, enjoy the Labour Day long weekend , get the kids back into school and settled...then the Fall Maritimes tour in October...5 towns, 9 or 10 shows with a grand finale hallowe'en in St John's!!...let's do it, boys !!
Kathy Becker nice reference! saw 13 of their concerts. always a showman. pure canadian genius we always wanted the world to hear and enjoy too. a hard canadian.
Can a HIP fan please explain to me what the lyrics mean in this song? I don’t care if it’s your interpretation or Gord’s himself Always curious about this song’s meaning
