Hello I have a question. Can the relative compression test be performed on both diesel and gasoline engines in the same way?

I don't see why not. You just need to disable the injectors and/or fuel delivery to prevent it from starting. I'll have to try that on my 6.0!

and you do this for every car for free that comes in.

No, what you do is complain, whine, moan and do ANYTHING but look for upsells. The video is 7 minutes long. Work it into your inspection routine and it takes less than .1 of an hour to complete. Those opportunities are going to get fewer and fewer with BEV's taking over. I don't know, maybe the unemployment gods will smile on you. Me, I'm going to make myself valuable to the customer and my shop.

@@owggarage723 That 7 minutes is an edited video I'd like to see you actually do all that from the time you get handed the keys to giving the keys back to the service manager in .1 labor of time and no I'm not complaining it's just time is money and personally I don't like working for free.

If you're on a commission or flat rate basis, who's paying you when there's no work to do? How much more could you be paid if your shop could charge more because they provided the best experience for their customers? Personally, I've always felt an ethical obligation to do the best I could for the vehicle owner and left shops that didn't do the same for those that do - and there are plenty that do. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
