How emotional to see the Twin Towers twice in this video, and young and old of all colors dancing to this great music of 1976 ! The Twin Towers were new, and the people were enjoying a great period in American History ! We were recovering from Vietnam....God bless the U.S.A.
I used to hate disco when it was current and new. Now I love about 30 disco songs from that era. This song ranks in the top 5 disco favorites of mine for sure, lol. But I can't help STILL being amused by Dr. Johnny Fever (Howard Hessman). For those who don't know, he was a fictional radio DJ on a U.S.A. 1980's hit tv show "WKRP in Cincinatti". Dr. Fever was a hippie and very anti disco. Everytime he heard "burn the mutha down" by the Tramps he would say, "And not a moment too soon babys!"
I got my first job at 17 years old as a short order cook when this song came out. Imagine cooking hamburgers, at rush hour ,over a hot grill, and suddenly this song starts over the p.a system in the restaurant. It just seemed appropriate for the venue.
At 2:53 the kid dancing looks like the kid who played michael Evans on Good Times...Love this song and this video. 5th ave in a yellow sign I miss old NYC sometimes.
HOW SAD to see the Twin Towers in the background in minute 1:58 to 2:00.... The World Trade Center had only been open 2 years when this video was shot in 1976......( The Towers were built between 1968 and 1974 ! ) But how happy to see people of all colors dancing together in those happy days !
I was in my 20's during the dicso era,and even though I was a heavy metal headbanger,I liked going out to the disco's and seeing all the beautiful women all dressed up and looking very sexy..Long before aids, and wearing condoms.Quite differnt from the 1960's when the girls were all quite nasty and unbathed..lol..It was a great time..This was always the song that reminded me of that whole era..Great tune
Funniest fight in a video game was in Bulletstorm in the disco while this song was playing and you where shooting mutants with a minigun and molotov, yeah burn em!!
it was released in 1977 or 1978 when Saturday Night Fever came out. It was one of the songs on the sound track. Great tune but has nothing at all to do with 9/11. If it is your first time listening to it, I can see where you would think it, along with the New York scenery as well.
You are welcome bro, im happy i made your day. My little brother is deaf from birth, so i have a lot of compassion for other people. I live on the small island of Jamaica, where in the world do you live? And what language do you speak?
