Putting on my white suit, getting my John Travolta on and going to the disco. This is one of many hits from the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, which is still one of the best selling Soundtracks ever. My favorite song from the album is If I Can't Have You(Yvonne Elliman penned by Bee Gees). Along with More Than A Woman (Bee Gees) & the rest of the iconic Bee Gee songs.
The soundtrack was originally supposed to be all popular disco songs already out (like Bee Gees Jive Talkin and You Should Be Dancing, Disco Inferno, etc) plus some instrumental filler, but some artists (like Boz Scagg - Low Down) didn’t want their music included.... so Stigwood asked the Bee Gees for some new songs, including a couple to be performed by other artists (IF I CAN’T HAVE YOU by Yvonne Elliman, and MORE THAN A WOMAN by TAVARES - a true disco group of 5 brothers). Other than the Gibb songs and the unimpressive instrumental filler, the songs were all already part of the disco club scene. After the Bee Gees songs came out, the whole world became a disco inferno, became over commercialised, and came crashing down with the Bee Gees being held responsible for having started the fire. Was fun times and music while it lasted!!
Heard this song from the movie “What’s Love Got To Do With It!” The great Angela Bassett as the great Tina Turner performing the hell out of this in the post Ike Vegas scene. Great pick Savage!!

My 14 year old sister was obsessed with Saturday Night Fever and bought the soundtrack... I was the irritating little 10 year old brother who would sneak into her room and steal the album just to listen to this track, my gateway to a love for Disco that burns in my heart to this day

Song Suggestion: Here is one of the best disco songs from the Disco era, it came out in 1979: "Machine - There But for the Grace of God Go I". During the mid to late 70's it was the thing to go clubbing on a Friday and Saturday night. It was the "dance era". People would go out dancing; the music was so good back then. Enjoy!!

Please consider reacting to the MORE THAN A WOMAN cover by TAVARES - just the studio version. Also, Jason Derulo and Tavares performed it together at the Grammy’s tribute to the Bee Gees a couple of years ago, but the video would probably be blocked for reacting. I wasn’t surprised that some of Barry’s family members on the front row were replaced with Travolta and some from other groups like Pentatonix - says a lot for the song, and for Jason Derulo and Tavares, that the stars wanted to be audience members for the performance!!
They're a one hit wonder out of the disco era. I haven't heard it since then except when it was included in "Stephen King's The Stand". The first one not the remake.

Could you react to "Eva Cassidy Time After Time". She was so talented, and has been ranked as having one of the greatest voices ever. Sadly she died from cancer at only 33, but her music lives on.
