Design wise as you've said certain things could be done differently but mainly on a preference basis anyway as for workmanship mate ten out of ten any day off the week, that is one tidy recovery truck you done what most don't and made a proper job of it fair play mate top job 👌

Nice looking bed that, when winching a car on always leave the handbrake on a couple of clicks (not enough to bind the wheels completely), that way if you're on a down slope it keeps tension on the winch cable all the time, and stops the car rolling forward uncontrolled, best way around the problem with using towing eyes is to use a brother strap underneath instead, or, if you get stuck use a pulley block on the front tie down point on the same side as the eye.

Nice recovery truck well built, i enjoyed this build & look forward to the next one, you need to get some snatch blocks so you can adjust the rope to pull from all most any angle high or low & double up the rope to a gain more torque/power from the winch! also i dont see them over here in the uk but the yanks use something called a J hook which is a large J Shaped hook on a chain to hook on to anything you can hook under the car without messing with shackles & straps!

I'd rig up a snatch block mate takes a lot of strain of the winch and makes it a lot more controllable as it halves the speed

You need to buy a ‘center pull strap’ .... wraps around the lower wishbone and you pull central ...

It may have taken longer than expected but it looks well worth it. 1700 KG = 3750 pounds and it didn't even seem to go down any. You did a beautiful job. It's really a shame that one of your concerns is parts getting stolen. I long for the days when we could leave our cars unlocked. Anyway, looking forward to your next project, sounds good.

It was very interesting how you build your truck. As you said in the last video, there are some thing you would do differently, but it was your first build and there are just not enough of them on YT yet..... One day I want to build one myself, but it will have to get stretched for longer American cars. I am into 60's muscle cars.. Very few video's on stretching frames.... Those that are on here don't show much and are normally in fast forward... Great build!!! ;)

Nice job mate 👍 You might want to get the transit weighed empty so you know what you can carry weight wise last thing you want is vosa pulling you for overloading 3.5t gross weight and it will also pull a 3.5t gross trailer (if you have b+e licence) but if your right about the saab being 1.7t that only leaves you with 1.8t for the transit and that includes fuel and passengers Don't get me wrong the truck is very capable of doing a lot more especially if the springs are uprated like you say I don't know how the law stands (what modifications are needed) with uprating the gross vehicle weight but I think it is possible but you would need a cat c licence too which is expensive unless you passed before 97 then you just have it on your licence (grandfather's rights as they call it) My transit died a few weeks ago and I have just bought a newer one I've gone from the 350 90 to the 350 135 and honestly it's a Wolf in sheep's clothing it's like a completely different bus altogether I had a ton of rubble on earlier today and I honestly forgot it was there I pulls like a train Nice work and I look forward to seeing your next project 👍

I sold my last Hot Rod some years ago and the guy who bought it turned up with a beaver tail truck similar to yours but a heavier chassis with hendrickson air springs, and the cab from a '56 Chev 1500 truck. You may want to go with air lift over load springs if you want to pull bigger loads .😊🚓

you do nice welds, the aluminium floor plate looks good but after a while it won't look that great, i would have used galvanized steel floor plate which is able to take the punishment. i also use the rear of the car to hook my rope when i load cars onto my trailer.
