That a/c should've been put in the corner on a stand on the ground with a plenum. Hot air rises so the return air up where its hanging is going to be hot and you'll only get a 20 degree split across the coil. 85 Degree return up high =65 supply where on the ground with a stand the return temperature will be around 10 degrees cooler 75 return = 55 supply. Same unit will actually cool way better if it was installed that way. Trust me I've air conditioned a lot of shop buildings and it'll cool way better on ground level. Also get ready for your floors to sweat especially during the rain
And there should not have been a takeoff installed at the very end because most off the air will travel out if that one section and not out of the others and it may affect static pressure. Therefore also affect the blower motor and also freeze problems.
Also do what you can to seal up the gaps in the roller doors etc. Half the battle is just dehumidifing the work place. If you're building is sive/chain link fence you're fighting a losing battle.
@@jasonguessedit no that's not what I meant...he was talking 100mph and I could tell a difference because I watch every video. I noticed it instantly! He was jacked up on something...could've been energy drinks so I'm not saying he's on drugs I was just joking about that. But he is in Florida and around different people so who knows 🤷
Honestly insulate ASAP. You're just gonna throw the cost away in power and wear an tear on the unit. Those tin walls will just radiate heat and the amount of holes/gaps in that place is probably crazy. There are also months where a good insulated shop and a few fans are all you need so it will save you money that way too.
14:53 The 1000$+ carbon fiber table looks really nice! Wasn't confirmed it was a table yet with the sockets on it, The hammer and phone but once the pizza was set down.. it was confirmed 100%
You will find that once its 85% outside this unit is going to run non stop and barely keep up if you do not insulate that tin can of a shop. You will likely end up burning out the compressor by the end of the summer. Spend the money. Get it insulated.
5 tons at 400 CFM a ton = 2000 CFM total. An 8" diameter duct is good for about 250 cfm with no register attached. So 2000/250= (8) 8" runs. 8 to 10 would be optimal and 6 minimum. It will 100% be worth investing in a thermostat that can control humidity, not just tempature. That way you can keep the humidity from ever going above a certain point regardless of the temperature setpoint.
You do realize that our average humidity here in central Fl. is 85% from June 1st to Oct 1st???? That unit WILL run nonstop until they insulate the entire building.. They're gonna shit when the first Duke bill arrives lol
Exactly what I was thinking. Was thinking how back when it was just the hatch and they would go to the very first pfi shop, how they probably never thought it would go this far.
It feels like it's taken forever for the technology to catch up with the horse power aka Billet Bell Housing. I'm so glad ur there and we can take a rode on the journey with u!
Depending on the amount of direct sunlight hits the roof of the shop could insulate the roof n add solar panels to the outside and use that to run AC off of power banks
I love watch the full process everything! Because everything has a slight variation from the last time. I appreciate your follow through and information given.
The information pertaining to the sequential dog engagement transmission is very important and needs to be shared. Very exciting to see this world record car rip again. The people complaining about seeing it probably don't work on cars or actually support the channel. :P
my rule of thumb is sure, it might be annoying seeing the same thing again but if it ends up helping some one later on down the road build one then i can suffer watching another transmission be built.
It's also good for me to remember how "dogbox" transmissions go...my last transmission rebuild was a FZR1000 engine overhaul many moons ago and sometime soon I will be rebuilding my own FZR400 motor...gotta see why it gets stuck on a bad false neutral and fix oiling issues
Closed cell spray foam on the walls would be a perfect application. It would also sound proof the hell out of that metal building, too. When I did mine, even working inside of the shop was more quiet!!! Well worth it. Good luck
does not matter if it is repetetive or not! still enjoy watching it! like now you had a raod bump with the transmission you had to fix. it is always fun to watch i think! :D
Thats the same size and style of insulated flex pipe I had to replace under my manufactured home when I bought it 10 years ago. I did a bunch more under there because a critter had chewd a huge hole in it and when I took it all apart both 90 degree adjustable pipes had rusted out and everything was loose on the crossover to the other half of the house. I was under there all weekend and pretty much replaced all of the system of the crossover setup. Works great now and everything is above code. Glad you got all your trans issues sorted eventually and pretty soon you'll have proper air conditioning.
I am infinitely grateful that I get to watch YOU work on cars... And I get to skip most of the unpleasantness. Really appreciated your breakdown of the complex issue.
You’re becoming an expert at repairing those sequential trannys. Im getting PPG 1-5 gear set from Jeremy getting installed on my 2018 FK8 type R @ 686whp cause I lost 4th gear 😅. My k20c1 build: ewg 4 port Mac solenoid, g30-770 Motec M142, Benson racing sleeved k20c1, Tom @ Portflow ported my head. Full Ferrea valve train. Got a couple friends installing Quaife Seq on their fk8’s.
Nice work on troubleshooting and figuring out the issue + reaching out to DC on the problem. Ideally they can tweak their CNC Program to add in the taper.
Vent the roof with a auto fan(can be closed or opened remotely). Spray foam insulation on the walls to the beams. It can be done yourself and not even be perfect. Best thing you can do plus its cost effective. Then you have someone sheet rock it, paint and throw up your banners for a clean look. It'll hold the cold like crazy down there in Florida. You'll be in heaven when it's 100 and 89% humidity in the summer walking in the shop.
The leverage on those to bolts in the bellhousing more of a worry than the 1 tab should've picked up a 3rd hole on the trans aluminum not as strong as people think it isif it loses another mount the torque on that will crack that bellhousing easily before it pulls that tab out
MR2 sounds really good! Keep up the hard work🤘 you Wyatt have been killing it. I'm old so my opinion doesn't really matter but I think the MR2 would look so much better if the doors and trunk were wrapped white🤷♂️ Can't wait to see it back at the track.
Old school BBs would have let the output shaft self clearance! So much has been learned in such a short space of time. Good on you Kyle! Set that record deep!
Speaking from experience, if you only attach your midplate to the traction bar, you're gonna bend the bar. We bent it on a all motor H23 set up. Also, the spring washer on the main shaft is one size fits all, but the flat one does have different thickness. I don't know with straight cut gear, but with oem gear set there is a spec for the freeplay between the main shaft and the bearings. From memory it's about 0.010-0.014 (fully compressed spring washer).
There's plenty more development you can do to the MR2. Getting it to a wind tunnel would be my first objective, see what you can improve upon in the aero department. I'd also be cutting out the targa top and just stitching in some flat sheet metal to shed some weight and added stiffness, and also stick some Castrol R40 in your fuel at like 50 or 60:1, it'll lubricate your fuel pump and injectors, and give you a very slight bump in compression as the castor oil in the fuel helps seal the cylinder
Having insulated a couple of similar buildings, I’d like to offer a tip, use insulation without the paper facing as i see on the roof, then use chicken wire ( very light fencing ) to keep the insulation in place, then to prevent the fibres flocking off the insulation bats, use a paint sprayer, with its lowest output and barely mist the insulation, this procedure will allow or cause the insulation to function as both sound and thermal protection for you,
I don't know who doesn't like the more detailed nuke videos but I wish this was like a hr of you going through the whole process. Love those old videos.
I work here in Texas in the HVAC industry and have put a lot of units in shops like yours. I would recommend redoing the supply plenum and invest in a single duct sock across the shop in its entirety. It helps spread air throughout the shop more efficiently than having a few random hole. Just a thought.
when it's hot over 95, if you can keep it 79 to 82 inside the shop, you'll be getting work done. Your trans problem will lead to others not having a issue in the Future since your working with the MFG. your feed back to them is Great.
Awesome workmenship.. i see u guys got the same dedication i do into my passion..its all about trust loyalty honor respect...& if some one messes up one they will lose all four. don't ever want any fore grazes in ur family & team circle of trust is the code i follow..old school new is how i roll..
What a beast Kyle. You guys have come a long way. I met you first time in person at hday few years back in 2019. I was the one in the stands that asked about your red hatch. It was a pleasure to meet you brother and some of the crew
Kyle, you're just the friggin man !! So glad to see the whole program coming together. Keep feeding Wyatt Teas because I'm pretty sure that's when he gets all his greatest ideas ! Damn the MR2 sounds so perfect!!
yeah man use Mylar on any tin garage wall facing the sun! its a game changer for sure. I noticed a 20 deg. difference in the summer time. its super cheap and incredibly effective.
Good to see that almost every car in the fleet is up and running again. Really shows how much you value and love yours cars. Just wish a certain someone I watch would do the same instead of letting one car he own just rot next to his shop
Keep having fun and doing what you love and skys the limit, and the insulation thing you boys could probably sort for free if you look around or if you want to get inventive you have a pool could always circulate the water from that through some pipes in the workshop or buy a water tank and if done right you could use it in conjunction with the AC to regulate the temp (basically what commercial greenhouses and places do these days)
You do not have a secondary line on your air handler. So if that float switch fails aka safety switch. It's going backflow and fill up that pan and eventually leaky leaky. Thankfully youre in a shop. Just pvc it yourself and run it outside to drip.. Remember water doesn't run up hill. Go to a hvac supply and buy some pan spray or plexidip and spray that pan on top to keep from rusting out. Last step, if he didn't install a hardstart kit on that condensor. RU-vid it. Do it yourself. It's easy and save $500. Just kill the power before you do anything if you're unsure
