Asked why Bob Dylan never shows up for the interviews, George Harrison has the perfect answer: "He's lucky".
Interview with Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, and Tom Petty promoting their second Traveling Wilburys album, Volume 3, on NBC's Today Show in the U.S. Broadcast 30th Oct 1990.
The interviewer is Rona Elliot. Rona is an American music journalist and interviewer of television, radio, and print. She was the first news anchor on music channel VH1 and music correspondent for NBC’s Today Show for ten years.

George looks so good in this interview. Don’t ever remember seeing him smile so much, have so much fun and seem so happy as he did during the many Wilbury interviews and videos.

It's probably George loving working with these great singer/songwriters and musicians. He respected them and they respected him. He didn't get respect a lot of the time from Paul or John, when he was in the Beatles.

Even in this interview he don't laughed as others peoplea would do in his situations. But you see he loves playing,and be in THIS BAND,HIS BUDDYS. Every of this characters are,is,was,be when you separate them... they greatest musicians of our time. Every one is outstanding and then they collaborated... puhhh hard to beat this formation Sorry for my bad english Greetz from Germany

It's funny to hear George say that part of the magic was this attitude of 'we don't really give a damn' that made it fun. Ironically, all of these guys give BIG damn. They put their best efforts into these songs. It's the weight of the music business being off their backs that makes this great music possible.

I get what you're saying, but I think the point is that quality is intrinsic for the true artist. And you're right, the 'don't give a damn' is about industry or commercial expectations. In layman's terms, they love their jobs, but the work is not drudgery.

@petegasper2806 3 месяца назад
Jim Keltner was Georhe Harrisons drummer from 1973 untill he died. He was even in the Bangladesh concert in 1971 as George did not trust the heavily drinking Ringo Star. The next album had Jim Keltner playing on it or you can say he was Georges drummer since 1971 as They released an album from the concert. Jim Keltner even left on of his drum sets in The Friar Park studio as he knew he would come there all the time and it was too much work to ship it back to US. In George Harrisons 120 room castle Friar park the best studio in England was located. Many groups came there to record their music, usually living in the lodges around the castle. There were 16 houses located on the promises and the enormous castle George lived in which is the most beatiful home any rock musician has ever had with 250 000 Square meter garden. Or their was actually 7 gardens on the property. That castle snd its gardens must be worth billions of Dollars by now.

Not sure who started it Col. Parker, Liz Taylor, or someone before them, but the idea that not giving interviews makes you more in demand and mysterious is sad. There are a few entertainers that have done almost no interviews, Dylan being one of them, which in the long run will be unfortunate for those interested in him years from now. Elvis did hardly any interviews, never appeared on Carson and such, but he has hundreds of videos of his performances. Elvis lives on strongly due to all of his recorded performances. I guess my point is... if you are a performer, record it and don't shy away from interviews... decades from now people will be interested.
@Hexon66

I understand what you're saying, but to be honest, Dylan's 1965 San Francisco interview is all we ever need! I love Dylan, and probably have learned more about his life and loves than I ever wanted to, but I don't really care about artists doing interviews to shill product. (I'd never seen *this* until today!). And I think Dylan, specifically, has been pretty clear that he's *not* going to explain meanings of songs (and if he does you can't trust that's just not making stuff up!). The music is the legacy, and future generations will find quality. And if they don't, it's their loss for not looking hard enough.

It's worth noticing how slick, clever and bold the white media is in attempting to link and illustrate how these 4 white artists will 'take us back to the early roots of Rock n Roll'. False. These 4 artists certainly don't resemble the likes of Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, Ruth Brown, Louis Jordon, Ike Turner, Lloyd Price, Big Joe Turner etc.... And since that host felt the need to mention the word "roots" in her opening intro, allow us to remind everyone that american music forms: Spirituals, Blues, Ragtime, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, ROCK N ROLL, R&B, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Punk Rock, Disco, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented African American roots coupled with undeniable African American influence. Don't get it twisted.

Put your race card back in your wallet, Skillethead !! I didn't recall anyone mentioning " going back to the white roots of early rock and roll. " I'm sure it would have made you happier if the interviewer said " and let's not forget that ALL genres of music in the history of mankind throughout all parts of the world was created by the black man." That's really what you want to hear isn't it ?

@@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879ow, @opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 why are you such a hateful, mean spirited person? Crazy rude comments about TP make you sound, well, petty. Yes, he struggled, but who are you to judge? You didnt know him or what he was going through. Your “embarrassment”, “Borderline Hall of Famer” comments are mind boggling. He contributed so much to so many people. I doubt you’ve made many positive contributions in your lifetime?
