The original rap groups from the late 70's is always top notch. Most talk about the 80's but never ever forget the 70's which started it all.

I actually copped The New Rap Language/Love Rap from Bobby Robinson's when he was on 125th st.& 8th ave corner. Later I would trek across 145th st. bridge to cop At The Party and any other Enjoy or Sugar Hill joint I could find. Still got 'em. Also got some Spoonie G Monster jam w/Sequence, a few Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5, Funky Four and a few choice others. That's how much I loved it. And I still listen to these early joints.

Every kid nowadays aspiring to get into the rap game needs to sub to this channel to gain an understanding and put into context what they are listening to today. The sad problem is that RU-vid won't boost the channel so a lot of them don't know this channel even exists.

The Body Rock was my Quarter Party 🎉 Favorite. I use to drive up from Camden ,NJ to NY! To record shop and get mix tapes for my Parties and got invited to other people’s party to DJ because I always had everything and things no one ever heard yet! Make tapes and make money 💵! You are bringing back memories! My man Ju Ju and POPs always let me talk my shit that became raps! I was from the Carolinas left when I was t two BK and Long Island wyandanch! I heard it’s a Ghetto now not as much when I was young! As they said Camden wasn’t either! Those are the Breaks! One of my favorite raps as a kid! Gratitude 🙏! Thanks Divine One ☝️! Keep up the outstanding work!

Great detail and insight per usual. Particularly re: the T3 as unsung, inherent producers. To this day I still use the intro from "Gotta Rock" as the transitional link for whenever I play a T3 set. Another thing I love about your series: How you break down replays. All these years and I never knew "Body Rock" was off of "Get Up and Dance". More!

I had it on a tape Latin Rascal Kiss FM Mastermix dance party with Jerry Young - a friend got me from NYC. It took me years to find out the Title of the song - The 12' did not make it to France at the time. Moe Dee is My Favorite. You're right, that song Layed the foundation for the next generation style of rap like Rakim and them... One!

Terry Turner idk I really wish I was a teenager/young adult around the 80s instead of today's so called wack rap music with wack digital beats and lyrics is not hip hop is crap. 80s hip hop is hip hop they use real beats positive lyrics and vinyl records unlike nowadays.

Terry Turner idk I'm so jealous of old heads that grew up on hip hop and good music period especially around the funk era no matter what struggles what people go through that time no social media no computers iPods iPads etc... people was more social look out for each other and it wasn't too much terrible music around the 70s/80s I can imagine breakdancing and being a dj or a rapper around the roots of hip hop it seems so fun and alive. unlike this genocide social media trap obsessive society is miserable is not even funny no more.
@DEVINEJUSTICEALLAH72

@Jayquan, loving your work bro! You also caught like I did that Moe Dee's verse on "Gotta Rock" was directed at MC's in general but LL Cool J in particular. I always felt like LL Cool J patterned himself after T La Rock more than Moe Dee, obviously due to the similarity of "I Need a Beat" to "It's Yours", musically and stylistically. But...because you noted that Moe Dee influenced T La Rock I defer

Btw: that blend w/UFO & the Action drums at the end is crazy. Bugged to think what some of those early Sugar Hill records could've sounded like if people like Moe Dee were actually able to realize their concepts using the OG breaks.
