The Tree of Life Full Press Conference - Cannes Film Festival 2011 

journalists are dumb: Malick hasn't ever appeared in public to introduce his movies and they're asking why he's not there... wtf

Terrence Malick is probably the guy who gave this video a down-vote.

This feels like a very cold conference, an interrogation. For such a beautiful film, why did they not direct more questions at Grant Hill, particularly in reference to the cinematography and Emmanuel Lubezki?

This was such a fresh, unique, innovative, creative, complex film with a brilliant performance by Jessica. Too bad they squandered the press conference with pedestrian questions like, "How much does the rigid '50s childrearing approach of the character reflect your own style of childrearing?".

Brad did a good job trying to answer these questions.

"terrence why isn't he here blablabla" "oh i do not aprove his attitude blablabla" damn aren't they happy that he made such a good film? he can do as he please just do your own fucking job and leave the man alone...

Perhaps the worst set of questions I've ever seen on a film panel, "The Tree of Life" deserves a much better discussion.

Is this a conference for the production team or just Brad Pitt? Every question seemed to be directed at Brad.

Press conferences are always trash, they always degrade into tabloid gossip and never into serious discussions about the films.

I think it is an incredible brilliant film and the answers are so thoughtful and intellectually alive. Mr.Pitt has allowed us to hear from him who he is. The film produced by Mr. Pitt is why he answered many of the questions and so well.

no joke haha... "i think its more of a broad themed rather than a religious themed film." suuuure. Malick is deeply spiritual and pretty obvious when portraying his beliefs

I don't get it --- how could someone watch this film and not see that Malick is showing stereotypical male and female views of the world --- timeless male and female perspectives, and showing the child's process of integrating this dual nature within themselves. This is what both Freud and Jung identified as the basic psychological process we all go through, and Malick is just REPEATING this common knowledge. He hits you over the head with it. And people in the audience need this EXPLAINED to them?

All i can remember is about an hour into Tree of Life in the cinema I turned to my friend and said, "wait.. Is this just a damn Jesus movie?!"

How boring. This film was INCREDIBLE, and the audience is star struck and has no clue at all about the film.

Hey Sarah, why are you at a press conference if your only answer is "the films speaks for itself"? Then don't have a a press conference and no media appearances at all.

Like so many people, Brad's been brought up with a misunderstanding of the true face and nature of God. I pray that he will one day come to know the love, grace, forgiveness, and happiness in Christ. From what I've heard, Angelina Jolie came to Christ a couple of years ago, so I can imagine that there may be some heavy contrast in her and Brad's marriage. Brad has also been working with Terrence again in Voyage of Time for a while. I pray that in their friendship Terrence can guide Brad in understanding the love of God so that he may be filled with the love of the Light and experience true joy and peace.
