Killing Them Softly Full Press Conference - Cannes Film Festival 2012 (Brad Pitt Ray Liotta) 

I can't believe it only has a 6.2 rating on IMDB. It was fantastic.

The Assassination of Jesse James is probably one of my favorite films. I think the book came out in the late seventies. I read it when I was twelve. This Dominick guy is incredible! Add to that Scoot (Dallas guy), Mendolhson, Gandolfine, Liotta, etc, it is a masterpiece. Excuse all the misspellings.

I don't understand... the people asking questions, are they film critics? writers/reporters who write about film making? This is a great film, a wonderful use of the medium. Better than most of the crappy films Hollywood spits out every year. it's very rare for a film of this caliber to be made (Orson Welles complained about it all the time) So, why all the lame questions?

you can clearly see that brad pitt feels very strongly about the message of the film and that he kind of agrees with the phrase "america is not a country. its a business" but he knows that he cant just say that, so he's trying to stay out of the actual topic of discussion as good as possible. cool dude though ;)

I think Ray Liotta saw himself in this movie and thought "shit I really need to loose some weight."

Absolute incredible film! The production was amazing, the performances by every actor is spot on!

More than half the questions could have been answered: "That's how it happened in the book." :) Yes, it was a cool artistic choice to map "Cogan's Trade" (George V. Higgins's novel) to the 2008 crisis and attention should be put on how the film extrapolated the story to it and how that motiviated the characters in the film. But, pretty much the WHOLE story and a large part of the dialogue came directly from the book. The only material changes were of course, the title; the name of Gandolfini's character (Mitch in the book); the time setting (2008 vs 1974); the near 'narration' of the plot in the form of background CNN/radio news bites throughout the film (very well done imo); and adding the bit about Jefferson and the 'America is a business' at the end. You would think that Dominik or Pitt would have put that out there more in their answers.

This press conference is a perfect reflection of the reception to the movie: pearls before swine.

The French film elite proving once again how clueless they are about truth in art, which comes from truth in all human experience. The looks on the faces of the guest panelists are great, it's like "are they really asking me this?".

What a terrible conference. The majority of the questions were simply ghastly. This was such an exceptional film, there is so much to talk about and people want to fixate on whether or not it glamorized violence? It's art.

Its fascinating how much respect is given to Ebert's wife. The moment she identifies herself, the entire tone in the room changes. Love it.

These guys are all up there to talk about the movie that they were in/and or made. Should they talk about sports or something unrelated??? They answer questions. The book has absolutely nothing to do with some analogy to America's economic situation or crisis. The people Higgins based his characters on could care less about the cycles of the economy. They are in the life from a young age, and they are people with an entirely different world view from those not in that life. If anything, they are insulated from the economic cycles because they don't wait around to play by the rules of those cycles like the rest of us do. They just take what they want.

I think Brad Pitt got of pretty bad in this interview. Horrible and tricky questions on complex political views can make anyone nervous and of balance.
