It is absolutely mind-blowing that God, (in the Person of Christ) would take the punishment for my sins, and pay the price in full! Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Not everyone asks these questions in a condescending way, some of us ask these questions because we are desperate to learn and understand our faith and to be able to explain the doctrine to others. But when I try to converse with a fellow Christian by asking these questions, I get a condescending response as if I’m just a skeptical agnostic/atheist or something. I wish we could talk about this without condescension..

You cannot imagine how much this helped me with my faith. I’ve been searching for the deity of Christ for these few months and struggled a lot to see that in the Scripture. I didn’t know about the Sharp rule and I started to get more and more confused. God used this video to show me the deity of Jesus and the Holy Spirit very clearly. Brother, I’m so glad I ran across you on RU-vid. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and they’ve been SUPER helpful!! Especially the videos on the theological types.

The level of anger and indignance that I’ve faced when asking questions about Scripture, God, our faith, etc. is disheartening. I gave up asking. I wasn’t ever asking because I didn’t believe it and I wanted to argue against it, I was asking because I was looking for clarity. I believe the Holy Spirit can provide clarity, but I also believe that as beings created by God, He designed us to have relationship with each other and to be iron sharpening iron. But the number one answer I get - even from pastors! - is that there are just some things I have to accept. I just need to accept the fact that I won’t understand everything and I just need to believe it. That’s not me being sharpened. That’s me being dulled. I’ve learned nothing. I didn’t come away from that conversation more confident in my faith. I came away with more question marks than when I came in. Ok - sure. I agree 100% that there are things about God that I can’t apply earthly logic to. But when there is actual doctrine resulting from something we believe in - like the Trinity - there must be things that have been identified in Scripture to support this doctrine. No Biblical doctrine exists without its contents being identified, categorized and defined. So that means there is something to LEARN here. Which means there IS an answer. Why are we not allowed to learn without feeling like we are blaspheming the Holy Spirit just by asking these things? That being said, Mr. Winger, I really appreciate your instruction and willingness to lovingly teach us about our God. Thank you for giving us this gift. I refuse to be mindless about my faith. I want to be mindful and that means understanding Scripture. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Just found you and as an ex Muslim I cannot thank you enough. I had questions about the Trinity and worshiping Jesus and God answered me personally. Therefore I did not have the theology behind it just that God answered me. This is the single most common attack that Muslims direct at ex Muslims accusing us of Shirk or polytheism. I grew up LDS, and I really appreciate your videos, showing me what it says in the Bible (and the Bible alone). It's difficult at times to sort through truth vs falsehoods that I was taught. I feel like I've totally started over as a baby Christian, and it's taken some time, but I'm OK with that.

I think it's healthy to attack your own doctrine to a certain degree to measure its weight and your ability to defend it. I feel like doing this would help our community discourse as Christians so that we would lean not on our own understanding, but come to an agreement together for accountability.

I have no idea why YT brought this up in my feed, but I'm glad it did. I am a firm believer in the Trinity, but it helps to have a clear discussion of it when someone challenges me. One of my favorite passages to establish the diety of the Holy Spirit is John 14, because when Jesus talks about the Comforter, He says the Father would send another Comforter. If I understand correctly, this is not just another person, like a prophet, as the Muslims claim, but rather, according to the Greek, another just like Himself. So if Jesus is ruled to be God by the terms laid down in the Bible, you must conclude also the Holy Spirit is God. Btw, a question for you: should we refer to that 3rd person of the Trinity as the Holy Spirit, or as "Holy Spirit," as if this is a proper name? I've always done the former and recently have seen some doing the latter, so I'm curious what you say about this. Scriptures that say the Holy Spirit will not speak of Himself make me think that though He is God, He does not ever identify a name for Himself, and can be called the Holy Spirit. I guess Jesus does call Him the Comforter, and I suppose we could call Him that. What is your opinion on how to address different persons in the Trinity, or should we bother about that, except to pray to the Father in Jesus' name?

One of the neat things about God being a higher dimensional being is you’d expect something like a “Trinity” to happen. I imagine some cube telling a some lower dimensional (flatland) square that he is 6 squares but all one Would be an odd concept for them to grasp but in reality it’s just what a cube is in a higher dimension

What will you do with the verses spoken by The Lord Jesus Himself calling His Father His God, and saying The Father gave Him to have life in Himself (self-existent, Amplified Bible), and Apostle Paul's statement clarifying Deuteronomy 6:1 (Shema)? John 5:26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself. 4 x here: Revelations 3:12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. I have a number of questions regarding some of the information present in the video, here are just some of them split by subject. SUBJECT 1 Regarding the word Trinity is not found in the Bible question, 2 follow up questions: The concept of personhood as defined in the trinity is found where in the Bible? The concept of God's essence as defined in the trinity is found where in the Bible? SUBJECT 2 Not sure I understand the explanation on John 1:1 What does the word "God" mean? Does it mean the essence of God, the trinity, or God the Father? For example: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with [the essence of God],and the Word was [the essence of God] (This would make the Word the essence of God and separate from the essence of God) or In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with [the trinity],and the Word was [the trinity] (This would make the Word sperate from and at the same time the entire trinity ) or In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with [God the Father],and the Word was [God the Father] (This would make the Word God the Father ) SUBJECT 3 Mike used John 17:5 to support the preexistence of God the Son: John 17:5 says "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." However, John 17:1 reads "After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:", at around 58 minute mark Mike says that it is not God praying to another God whenever Jesus is praying but one person praying to another person in the trinity. Is this Jesus as human praying since Jesus is fully human and full divine? If so how could Jesus as a man have glory with God the Father since the world began? If this is divine aspect of Jesus praying, or God the Son then why does God the Son need to pray to God the Father if they are co-equal and co-eternal? Would this not lead to subordinationism?

Hi Mike. I am struggling with the concept of the Trinity. You define it as 1 God, but 3 persons; Father, Son, and HolySpirit. Here lies my confusion. Could you please help clarify these terms. 1. A person is defined as a human being regarded as an individual. (Not a group) 2. A father is defined as a male in relationship to his children. Also as creator, originator, and founder. 3. A son is defined as a male In relationship to his father, or parents. He is their offspring, descendant and heir. (This implies a lineage.)

Trying to understand how it works. Please explain Ephesians chapter 1 to me using the trinity concepts you taught.

This might sound dumb, I really struggle wrapping my mind around this concept. Is it right to say that God came down in the form of his own son to die for our sins? And God also makes himself personally within us in the form of the Holy Spirit. I think I get confused understanding Jesus as the Son of God making it hard for me to understand as the trinity. In the book of Act, the Bible clearly say: "God is Spirit, so worship him in spirit and truth", so therefore the 1 God in entirety is a Spirit, so to say spirit is a separate person of a fractional part out of 3 parts that make up 1 whole GOD is absurd!

@Mike Winger. I'm learning all about Jesus and The father. I was born and raised a Jehovah's Witness. I left and feel a strong pulling to go to church and to read my bible daily. I'm about 3 years I to my new journey. I've come far in my understanding of the trinity but some uncertainty is still left if im honest with myself. It's to be expected I suppose after 27 years of JW teachings. Another question I have is why Jesus said, "All authority has been given to me by the Father," if he is of the same authority? Didn't he say this after he was risen and went back to heaven? If so, we can't say it is because he was in human form at the time so at that time, The Father was greater because he was in Spirit form at that time. Explain please.

In 2 Peter 1:1, does that same rule apply when they speak of Peter as "a servant and apostle "?

It’s not that they’re attacking the Trinity. It simply doesn’t make sense. God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and not a person/man (Numbers 23:19/Hosea 11:9).

Being a person is a type of being. We can even refer to "being a person." Actually, it's a very significant type of being since it is self-aware and has agency. The distinction b/t three persons and one being doesn't make as much sense as you suggest unless you mean 'essential being,' or 'ousia,' in which case it is more like 'type'. Anyway, big fan of ya Mike. Just figured I'd share.

You started by explaining the “doctrine of the trinity” according to a pre-conceived belief or idea, then attempted to find verses in the Bible that support your doctrine. That is not how the Word of God should be read. Reading it this way can be used to prove almost anything you’ve set out to prove. Instead, you should read the Bible as a whole to find out what God wants to tell us about who He is. Not what you want Him to be according to your pre-conceived ideas. If you have to rely on outside human authors like James White to explain a doctrine that is not clearly explained in the Bible, you are misleading yourself and many others who listen to you. Unless James White, and others like him, received a revelation from the Most High directly, their books and words can tell us NOTHING about who God REALLY IS. The “Word of God” became flesh in order to tell us everything we need to know about who or what God is. No other outside sources are needed. You later claim that you believe the entire Bible and claim that Jesus is not the Son of God, but God himself. By doing so, you are turning God and His Son into liars! Nowhere in the entire Bible are the words ‘God the Son’ or ‘God the Holy Spirit’ mentioned. It’s almost always God the Father. The doctrine that you are teaching is NOT mentioned or explained by any apostle or disciple of Messiah. The trinity doctrine is a man-made philosophical abstraction meant to confuse people and turn a true relationship with our Creator into worshipping of an incomprehensible impersonal deity. We worship a REAL LIVING Heavenly Father, not a triune being with multiple personality disorder.

I am speaking on our statement of beliefs, and am talking about the trinity this week. I was worried that people would see it as just an academic teaching, but you starting with the 7 questions shows how important it is to know these things. Thanks for that!

To me the concept of the Trinity invalidates the sacrifice Jesus makes. How can God be and advocate for us to himself are we being tricked? how can you call the atonement a sacrifice or even a big deal if its just a essentially a clone of God in human form? The Trinity suggests God himself was too afraid to take on the pains needed to complete the atonement so creates a separate being to do that part so he dosn't have to. Or did God the Father also feel the pains the Son goes through? I used to think Jesus is literally his Son and Gods part of the Sacrifice is akin to a father giving up his child but is it? or is Jesus just a version of God, used to suffer for our sins in place of the Father?, where is the sacrifice if God is Sacrificing a version of himself he knows will be fine? how does God have the audacity to make Abraham sacrifice his son as a representation of whats to come when the Trinity suggests these two things are completely different? God knows everything is going to work out so does Jesus? did Jesus know being crucified etc was just a split second in time and 3 days later he'd be fine since he is God? If so where is the sacrifice? Why plead to change the plan in the Garden of Gethsemane if Jesus being God knew everything was going to be fine? Jesus is the only begotten Son why make this distinction at all if they were not separate but a part of the same being? . We are all children of God so are we the 4th part of the Trinity or are we separate? who can say if Son and Father don't mean how we understand son and father why use this language at all? I don't really believe in God anymore but to me the Trinity seems like the biggest nonsense used to discredit, invalidate and shroud the nature of God and Jesus and who would want to do that?.

I have recently heard people refuting the Trinity by pointing out Matthew 27:46. "My God, My God, why have you foraaken Me?". I have searched and can't find an answer. Please help!

Part 1. The ultimate thing to think about is if its important to know the difference? If God, Jesus and the Holy spirit are separate then what difference does that make to someone's life/actions? I was brought up in a specific Christian group that are largely despised. But one thing I will say is they are despised for knowing the bible well. In my mind at least they know the truth. The Israelites came out of slavery in an Egypt that was known for multiple gods. They and surrounding nations often believed in Triads of gods. In Wikipedia it states: In ancient Egypt there were many triads: the Osirian (or Abydos) triad of Osiris (husband), Isis (wife), and Horus (son), ... the Elephantine triad of Khnum (god of the source of the Nile river), Satet (the personification of the floods of the Nile river), and Anuket (the Goddess of the nile river). When the Israelites were released from Egypt it was done in a unique way. Israels God brought 10 plagues on Egypt, each one seems to have been specific to each of the Egyptian gods. As the gods of Egypt couldn't stop the plagues it showed who was more powerful. Exodus 12:12 New International Version “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. Israels God proved his dominance over all the Egyptian gods to send a message worldwide - That he was the most powerful God, the only true one. 13Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me, 14or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. 15For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16But I have raised you up a for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Brother Mike, it is always safer to stay with the scriptures, as you have done in other subjects. 3 persons in one God? Where in the scriptures can we find this definition? Any description of God that is not found in the bible, will border on idolatry. We gotta be careful, brother.

The Bible never says we have to understand the trinity to be saved. We start out as newborn babes and we usually go from knowing nothing about the Bible or this God but it’s His job to reveal Himself to us. As a new Christian years ago I knew Gods Word was true before I ever knew what was in it. I always doubted anyone could be saved and not believe in the veracity of scripture, but again, it’s not required. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. It doesn’t say “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and understand the trinity and believe in the inerrancy of scripture to be saved.” We tend to judge others by us, us being the standard. I’ve learned I can’t convince anyone of anything, but that’s not our job. Only God can do that. Matthew 13:10 10And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. Gods Word is written in languages we are all capable of reading but unless He, God opens our eyes to its meaning, it’s not possible to understand the spiritual. That’s part of the Holy Spirits job. To teach us and remind us of what the Lord has said. I always go to Luke 24:45, 45And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. There was 12 Apostles but only one of them was an Apostle Paul. Not every Christian believes everything identical because we don’t all start our Christian journey at age 6 on September 1 like they do in school. We are told to study to show ourselves approved unto God, but not everyone has 24 hours a day to devote to Bible study. According to Jesus in Matthew 7 more will perish on the broad road to destruction than find the narrow path that leads to life. Since we all start out spiritually dead, blind and deaf you can’t expect anyone dead, blind and deaf to understand something only a spiritually alive person can understand and even then, no two Christians are at the same point in their walk with God. If Muslims or whoever doesn’t believe the doctrine of the trinity, you’re wasting your time trying to reason with them until they are regenerated.

I’m in between whether to believe the trinity. But something that is staying on on my mind. Is John 20:17 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. '" it’s confusing why would God have a God. I’m not sure. And also in luke no bible verses said about Jesus acting like God. Why would that be if this is so important? Please answer anyone I’m very confused.
