You're a really great teacher dude. The way you approach drums as a passion and discipline is exactly what most new players need. You also approach making your videos in a vary relaxed state and it makes the viewer feel like they're in the same room.
Never heard describing the strokes for accents and ghost notes as Dog Paddling. That's helpful for we who are more audfio/ tactile than visual. Thanks. The different surfaces on the same side of the pad is a cool concept I had never seen either.
That cowbell metronome was recorded as Bessie was walking through the field. Love it. Rhythm lives all around us, just listen. Practice on Mr. Brown. Great name for the exercise.
I’ve been doing my own triplet exercises😄 RLR,LRL,RLR,LRL, RLRL,RLRL,RLRL,RLRL,Then RLL,RLL,RLL,RLR,LRR,LRR,LRR,LRR, REPEAT LEFT LEAS LRL,LRL,LRL I love this AND LOVE THIS ONE ALSO 🙏🏻🤘🏻🥁
I saw this in a video of yours a long time ago and started doing it daily. I also added a double stroke 5-tuplet to mix up some timings and it helped me incorporate it into fills!
Excellent as always rob, since I learned to do those killer accents on the pad, the practices took another direction, I just have to learn to do those rimshots on the snare drum 🔥🔥
Thanks for another great lesson! As you stated, it's good for flow. I'm already thinking of displacing the figures (ala Gaddiments). Keep up the great work!
Thanks Rob for your videos! What about this exercise that I like for mind and stick control: RLLRRR/LRRLLL , and rlLrrR/lrR/llL , with every third note accented ?
Need to know exercise , as all of your content has been so vital in most percussion Thank you so much brother in time Yes P4 nice What’s up wit dat metronome I need one for the boys Thanks again for all your efforts
Been playing drums for a good couple of years now, and only recently started to train up some rudiments again. I might just throw this in the mix. I'm so far behind though. Lol
Rob... I have had to switch to dbl bass pedals because I had a solid ankle fusion due to a MOTO-X 'ass'ident I had back in 2006, 19 surgeries later I figured I would find a work around for my triplet trouble. So I no longer have that ankle movement that I need vertically... I can bounce it by choking far back on the pedal but I dont get the power I want on the second & third hit with a single Rick Allen is the one that encourage me to keep tryin' by the way, but with a single pedal I just cant find the speed brah! What would Rob Brown do in this situation? Haha... but seriously... I know this is about sticks but it created the urge to ask ya about the pedal situation.
I've been meaning to ask about the full-page Metronome that Rob uses. I like the big visuals associated with it. Is it a particular app? Does anyone know where to pick it up?
This is fantastic stuff for anyone who needs to learn to loosen up a bit. Back in my high school's marching band we would play a triplet/diddle exercise where we shifted around the accents and diddles, and I swear I got yelled at all the time because my hands were too "flowy" and not stiff enough for our director. I had no idea at the time that I was basically doing the Moeller motion. I still do exercises like these on the pad all the time, but of course they're really fun around the kit too.
