I've seen hundreds of concerts, from, the Stones, Who,, McCartney to ZZ Top, Jethro Tull and Metallica. But Iron Maiden by far have Always.. bar none..been the best shows I have ever attended. This October I will be seeing then for the 14th time. Can't wait!
100% saw them for the first time in June 2023 in Leeds England, I'm 53 and have seen many of the world's great bands over 30 years or so and Maiden are the very best live act out there, even though they're collecting their UK State pensions for some time now!

Very cool to see Maiden covered here. I thought your reaction was quite favorable. And very fair in your opinion of the respect the band is due for just being able to not only survive all these decades but to thrive. They have a fan base that is full of young people still because the parents who are my age and older are bringing their kids to the shows. All the members are extraordinary musicians and the diversity of the material the band has it their command is very diverse depending on what it is you choose to listen to and from which ear of the band you are pulling from. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it and as we say in the Maiden fan world... "Up The Irons!"
Thanks for doing this one, Cash. Iron Maiden is one of the bands I grew up on, and this song came from an album they put out on 1983. I never saw them live, but I always wanted to. ... South America has always been wild about American and British rick bands, so, they go down there often. One of the most underrated bands ever! I've been listening to them since I was in 10th grade. And I'm 57 years old and still listen to them. They went though the 80's, and that's when they got better!

They are all excellent musicians and Bruce has one of the most incredible voices. Still doing it after all of these years and a bout and surgery for throat cancer. I have grown up to Iron Maiden. They are still relevant. I call them Metal Gods. Now when I was watching this, I wondered, what would Sabaton - Christmas Truce give you? An empty glass? A full one? Or the complete bottle of wine? I suggest that song.
Wow I’m impressed that you reacted to Iron Maiden!! Now I would recommend checking out some of their earlier performances when they were in their prime. A good concert that’s available on RU-vid is the Live After Death one, I believe they were all in their 30’s and sounded much better.

Yes, Iron Maiden got Started in the 1970's, but the only people in the band right now, that were in the band in the 1970's, are Dave Murray and Steve Harris. Everybody else that are in the band now came in in 1980 and after. And they, Iron Maiden, have never went away. They've had a few lineup changes, but the band, right now, has the same line up it had in the 1980s, with the addition of Janick Gers who joined, I believe, in 1990. Both Adrian Smith and Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden in the 1990's to do their own things but have since returned to the band and have been there since.
If you want to go down the Maiden rabbit hole it's a long journey. Iron Maiden has 17 studio albums starting in 1980 and their new one last year, this song is off Piece of Mind 1983. A beer and a shot of Brandy. I saw this band 2 times and was blown away at both shows. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. They are still rocking hard but I saw them when they were younger and they ran around the stage so fast you had to keep a sharp eye, or you would lose ware someone was.

Hi Cash, hope you're doing good. I'm not crazy about Iron Maiden's music either, but they do pick some interesting subjects for their songs, quite often historical subjects. This one was apparently about the charge of the Light Brigade in the battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War in 1854. This was not a war for oil, of course, but for knitwear ;-) Actually, it was a war over religious rights in Palestine, which was part of the Ottoman Empire, leading to a conflict between France (promoting Catholic rights) and Russia (promoting Eastern Orthodoxy), and Britain was allied with France in order to preserve the balance of power between the Ottoman Empire and the growing Russian empire (doesn't this sound familiar today?) The Light Brigade of British cavalry was ordered to charge a battery of Russian artillery in error, due to a miscommunication. The result was an infamous disaster. The charge was originally made into a British film called The Jaws Of Death in 1930. Warner Bros. in Hollywood wanted to cash in on the popularity of British empire stories at the time with an all British cast for The Charge Of The Light Brigade in 1936, although Errol Flynn was cast as the lead with Olivia de Havilland, despite being Tasmanian and the studio publicity insisting he was Irish. The 1936 film was only loosely based on history, and a later more satirical version was made in 1968, starring Trevor Howard, John Gielgud, and Vanessa Redgrave. This version was written as more brutally authentic, with some cartoon sequences in the style of Punch magazine to explain the political backdrop driving events. It was a particular favourite film of my history teacher at school, who enjoyed telling us about David Hemmings' performance as the anti-hero Captain Nolan, who was hit by a cannon ball blowing a huge hole through his chest during the charge, and the wind generated by the continuing charge of his horse made it sound as if he was screaming at the top of his lungs. Great stuff! Lead singer Bruce Dickinson usually waves a union flag at concerts during this song, but I noticed the flag on the record cover picture projected behind the stage was wrong - you can't tell if the flag was the right way up or not - this is important because when flown upside down the flag is a distress signal.
Couldn't decide if this one should get a half glass of wine or a full bottle, so I decided eventually on half a glass for the song, full glass for the stage performance, a full bottle of vodka for the Russian gunners for doing exactly what we would have done if the positions had been reversed, and a case of wine for your reaction. @@brianb6024 - yes, I noticed in the movie Wind River (2017) when they first go onto the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, you see the American union flag flying upside down. It's not a very subtle distress signal, but more of an in-your-face political protest. Any flag that has a vertically symmetrical design, like the French or Irish tricolours, or the Scandinavian or Swiss crosses, won't work in this way. I think ours is fairly unique in that it looks symmentrical, but actually isn't. I've seen some American reaction videos about the UK, where the reactor is shocked to see this.

i hate having to correct you, BUT iron maiden is a full fledged 80s band. their first album came out in 1980 and their sound is 100 percent 80s metal. it's okay though, i forgive you. rock on!
I hate having to fact-check you but I was sure Cash was right. The band were formed on Christmas Day 1975, temporarily disbanded in 1976 and reformed again, due to difficulties with personnel. They didn't secure a record deal until December 1979, which is why their debut album was released in 1980. I think that makes them a full-fledged '70s band, albeit without a record contract initially, but not every band gets a record deal at all.
And they say the Gibson Les Paul isnt good for heavy metal shredderery! Lol! Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin. Not really metal, but..), Randy Rhoads (Ozzy), Kirk and James (Metallica), and Zack Wylde. Just to name a few. Btw.. check out a video titled Randy Rhoads Solos. Its a compilation from his short time on earth. Chances are you've his guitar riffs but didnt know his name or story.

If you like huge crowds and live performances try Rush in Rio Tom Sawyer or YYZ. You can see 100,000 fans air drum. In their later years you could have three maybe four generations of fans (and families) at a concert.

I'm sorry to say this, but you haven't really heard Maiden. The Trooper isn't a bad song, it's pretty hard to find bad Maiden songs anyway, but there are so many countless great Maiden songs and they're all different. Each tells its own story. It's really hard for me to make an adequate suggestion here, but if you really want to hear Maiden try "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner". The best thing would be to look at the lyrics, the music always reflects the lyrics. It was fun watching your video and I hope there is more to come from Maiden. I saw them my first time in '81. The last time was 2018. This was by far not their best. Try early live Hallowed Be The Name. It's a two bottle performance.
