I want an exia/00 that goes trans am or a 00 qant that can do that final scene on the movie where it sheds it's armor and the gn condesers pop out while going full trans am
"$250 means a lot of different things to a lot of different people" ... Words of wisdom. Im a dad of 3 and couldn't possibly fathom spending $250 on this masterpiece. But know my friend i live vicariously through you. That was another great review. Your reviews got me and my kids into gunpla. Thank you for the hours of entertainment brotha please keep em coming.
Father of two here. What I do is what I call "chip save". After all the expenses for the month taken care of, I chip a little money in a jar. Away from our bank savings. That way I dont feel guilt when I buy an expensive kit from my "chip". But if you are the " I could have bought blah blah with that money" type of guy, this wont work.
Not a parent (do dogs count tho?), but I agree with you guys. There's just not enough behind this kit to justify it being $250, especially when you could spend around half the price (maybe a bit more/less) to get nearly all these parts (plus some) to do the same kind of setup. FA Unicorn Ver Ka is about $80 (or less) now, a couple of Action Bases with adapters (price may vary) and boom; Poor Man's MGEX lol. I would include the MS Cage, but good luck trying to get one currently after the Expo last month lol.
@@Heavy_Metal_Gunpla majority of the cost goes to the led, and the kit is a redesign that is a much better structure, and adding the cage in there its actually not that expensive
@@Heavy_Metal_Gunpla i could not care less about the lighty lighty gimmicks. Hated the pg exia, absolutely love the pg strike. This mgex kit opened my eyes to other possibilites. The metal composite unicorn is really looking good for me and I hope of owning one next month. But I understand and respect the market for this. This is the real Premium Bandai. The luxury kit.
Bandai: "Look all this accessories and new led unit and detail!!! Really worth the price!!" Customer: "Yeah it's amazing... but why the father dying miniscale figure?" Bandai: "Why not?" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Customer: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
o crap, it's the PG unicorn, pg banshee, pg unicorn final battle, pg banshee final battle, pg unicorn 7/11 pg unicorn ANA pg phenex pg false phenex pg phenex mastermind all over again, in mg form. guess i gotta break out my 10k emergency fund early this decade
Hey Mecha, you should try to shine a blacklight at the deactivated psycho frame. A Chinese review of the MGEX shows that the psycho frame glows blue when a blacklight is shined on it.
Imagine the P-Bandai... Full Armor Expansion for Unicorn Banshee (Norn would be a normal release) Phenex (because fuck your wallet lol) Phenex (Narrative Version, because double fuck your wallet lol) Perfectability Titanium Coating Pearl Coating The list goes on, and on...lmao
I need a version without the led and pre-colored psycho frame though, seeing you carefully handled it to make sure the LED wouldn't snap made me feel stress already.
I watched this video three times before I finally couldn't control my impulses anymore. So far, I've built the base and the torso and I have to say that I agree that this build is extremely refreshing. There's so much fantastic undergating to all of the external armor panels and I swear I've done virtually zero nub clean up on any of it. The worst I've had to deal with is that harder dark gray plastic in the MS cage base and shield stands. But for the Unicorn itself? The parts are coming out extremely clean and I feel like that alone helps justify the price of this kit. Also, I don't find the build to be very difficult. It's mainly getting the LED strip to line up exactly where it needs to be that I find a bit annoying. Needle nose tweezers help a lot. It's gotten easier as I go though. The worst was just getting the cockpit and lower torso situated around the strip at first. Anyways, thanks for what you do. I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
Same here I just got mine as well and it has to be one of my favourite builds ever. I actually gave me a challenge since cause you have to build it along with the LED strip
True, most RG kits before the Unicorn were all about looking good than being good. They looked awesome, but were basically live hand grenades that could burst apart in your hands. I bought the RG Zeta against better judgement, and boy was that a BIG mistake.
But the MGEx is designed by Katoki, and he never ever design a double 00 kit. We can only expect whether bandai release banshee or phoenex next year. Its sad but its the truth.
When you discover that in terms of Gunpla, the Unicorn Gundam can self recover, self multiply, and self evolve. I'm positive. this guy has acquired abilities of the Dark Gundam. WITH THE HELP OF KYOJIII!
High Grade: Getting better and better. Real Grade: Lots packed in a small package. Master Grade: The Best Grade (in my irrelevant opinion) Perfect Grade: Centerpieces of any Gunpla collection. Master Grade Extreme: your wallet, now.
@R D Get a PG Unicorn and another Master Grade you want. I didn't say you should get 2 Unicorns lol. MGEX is a stupid cash grab line. Knowing Bandai they probably make the 2.0 MGs MGEX now so we have to pay triple for them. Meanwhile we get stuck with the 15 year old MGs. These people are fucking evil.
@Mecha Gaikotsu So, where's the moment the cable snap off? I'm not quite so sure whether it's the moment you disconnect it from the base or not cause i can't really tell
My predictions for more MGEX Kits Banshee Full Armor (Premium Bandai) Phenex (P Bandai Exclusive) Perfectability (Gundam base) (Basically anything Unicorn) Exia 00 Gundam Gundam 00 Quanta (Basically anything with a GN Drive) Destiny Gundam V2 Gundam Strike Freedom Gundam (Basically anything with the Wings of Light)
U gotta add in those money sucker gunplas bandai used to sell a lot too... Astray series, red blue gold astray rx93 v Gundam Sazabi Zeta n ZZ and ofcuz, RX-78-2 and Char's red comet Zaku MKII
Just died temporarily from overuse during the review. I think it might just be a built in protective thing to stop them getting damaged. They were fine again the next morning, and have been fine since.
8:03 I agree here. The best 1/144 scale version is RG. The best 1/100 scale version is MGEX. The best 1/60 scale version is PG. 12:12 I agree here as well. The fact that you're paying over $200 (US) for this kit yet they go with stickers on the v-fin? They should have at least included a non-transforming v-fin that is pre-painted in gold like the PG. You could always relatively easily paint it, but it's a bit of a shame that Bandai didn't go the extra mile. 15:47 I'm not surprised to see some parts being reused from older kits; albeit a little bit modified. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai releases a P-Bandai weapon add on set with 100% newly molded parts. Something like that would probably be for RX-0 Full Armor Unicorn Gundam 'Expansion Unit'. 18:08 Fold out penis 🤣 18:49 Storage penis 🤣 22:05 But wait! There's more! 🤣 28:26 Yea. As great as this MGEX is, the v-fin sticker kind of ruins the overall package. 34:12 I also wonder if Bandai will release an MGEX without the LED and instead include clear red and clear green psychoframe parts in additional the clear colorless psychoframe that this MG comes with. Without the LEDs, this won't be nearly as expensive. Bandai will probably reuse the MGEX RX-0 Unicorn to do the variants.
The accessories feature shown in the video are extremely hilarious, for example the beam magnum and bazooka with phallic plugs and the mini figures such as Banagher Links, Banagher's girlfriend, Banagher's father, Banagher's other girlfriend and Banagher's exploding father!!!🤣
"Bandai never does is overcharge, well for the model kits that is.When it comes to gunpla, the price is always fair" P-Bandai Exclusive repaints, regular grunt suit releases, sticker heavy kits, very old gunpla with new parts but outdated detail and articulation. Sure fam
1. That's exactly why they're P-Bandai. Even then, the prices are always high because of the damn resellers. 2. Since when did they overcharge for grunt suits? 3. Think of how many plastic is included in said kit instead. 4. I actually don't know any. Mind giving me an example?
Owh snap, what i meant was grunt suit relases that are P-bandai, my bad, i just dont get why we have to pay premium for just the regular grunt suits such as eldora daugthress, eldora windam, daughtress, i understand suits like the varguil and the advance of zeta kits, but regular grunts suits that many people would like to customize due to its cheap cost has a limited run and extra shipping cost which can cost up to twice the amount the model kit is supposed be depending where you live
Why isn't there any update about the fact that the lights totally broke? I can't imagine how many people are going to spend tons of money based on a glowing review from a huge channel without knowing that the LEDs are prone to failure.
I kinda want to get this for my birthday (who needs PG exia anyways) PG Exia: *Sobs* Me: *Don't worry my sweet child, the nostalgic best always comes last PG Exia *:D*
The video length of this video is second only to the FAZZ. Also, can't you remove the excess paint on your new mascot to make him look less like a zombie? And best girl Marida is more like banaghers sister.
I just got into gunpla a couple of days ago. I went to a pretty well known hobby store in my area that has a huuuge selection of gunpla and this 10 year olds mom got him this off the shelf. I was like daaang this kid makes me look like trash probably 🤣 His mom said he was actually pretty good at it. Props to that kid.
I'd love to see a release of this without the LED strips and a colored plastic psycho frame. It would blow the Unicorn Ver.Ka out of the water, and hopefully be a little more manageable in price.
This review inspired me to buy the model so I'm currently building this MGEX and I can honestly say: it does feel more on par with building a PG. Building around the flexible LED strip adds is a whole 'nother level of difficulty, but I know all the effort will be well worth it once all is said and done.
if they release it only the cage, led sheet and the gundam it self, i believe the price will shrink down but with that all a accessories, they just a money gag
38:22 Mecha- What Bandai never does is overcharge Bandai- yeah sure totally Actual Bandai- Get mad. Get MAD. Get mad. get mad. GET SO MAD IT DRIVES YOU MAD!!!
I turned my led on for my mgex unicorn, the led has been working until it’s just randomly stoped working. I tired turning it off and on again and pressing the button but nothing happens. What can I do to fix it?
I feel like the master grade unicorn gets too much hate. The one I built feels pretty solid and looks pretty good. The transformation is a bit eh but still kinda underrated.
I have the Full Armor version myself, and it's not that bad. My build is just poor since I was new when I built it, so most of the mistakes were my fault. Though, I do agree that it is very weak in terms of joints and poseability.
Same i had the original ova (wich is now kinda broken i used the shield for a sort of astray custom and weapons for my upcoming banshee) Can't wait for my banshee man
I sure do hope that bandai releases this kit as an MG Unicorn 2.0 with colored psycho frame without LED or those massive arsenal. Just the kit, beam magnum, bazooka, and one shield so it'll be cheaper and more accessible to anyone
It really depends on what you want, any pg is going to stand out in a collection and if you go for the led option it's really going to pop. But if you want the 3 shields, the green psycho frame, and the freedom to pose them, I can't really see getting the pg.
In Australia, retailers are trying to sell this for $500 dollars. They said “import tax” is why the price is about 1.5x the conversion rate, I wanted it, but for that price I’m going to have to pass
Thats a ripoff and ill tell you why. Its because until the new year there is going to be a shortage of production. I know in north america at least, or specifically Canada and I assume Australia and maybe the US too, Bandai asked retailers to stop taking preorders. But many kept doing it with no guarantee of product being available, and the MGEX was one of the big ones. So now retailers will get 20% of what they usually get while product is diverted to these dickhead dealers so they can fulfill promises they made basically on behalf of bandai even though they were told not to. So now, since covid, bandai moving into a second factory, and the MGEX needing the LED sets from a third party which I think is in China which is having trouble producing the amount needed , the very few free MGEX sets (the kit and the LED) that are being produced and put on shelves, are going to be either overpriced or bought by scalpers
I'm completely blown away by the proportions of this new Unicorn. The old mg was always lacking something, this one has thicker legs which reminds me of Megas XLR. Is this model itself considered Ver. Ka and does anyone think it'll be released without all of the expensive stuff?
The kit is good, that V-Fin is really bad though... I'd guess they're expecting people buying this kit to spend the time on painting it, but.. I have a feeling people spending this much on a kit want a done kit rather than something like that. Overall good looking kit, but not something I'd spend that much for. Much rather just get the PG Unicorn and a knock-off LED kit (those are way cheaper).
have to agree. they could have made the solid v fin 2 parts one matte gold for the fromt, one white for the back. its not like they havent done similar things on rg with small 1 color pieces.
The only ex kit that would interest me is if they did the god gundam with led burning finger, chest piece and back halo. I dont care about every other gundam that can cave a light up gimmick outside of eyes to pay more than 100 dollars
Definitely going to save up for this one. I hope they continue this new line, as I do like seeing just how much innovation they can pack into these kits. Also, had a thought for a video you could do from time to time. We all know that some kits eventually fall apart, or otherwise fail to maintain their original level of quality. A prime example of course is most early real grades. Because of this, I was thinking you could go back to a couple of older kits every few months or so just to update people on how they're holding up. Tell us how long you've had the model in question and how much posing and such you've done with it so we have a clue to how long a given kit might last and how much abuse it can take before it's initial level of quality begins to fail. Call it "Throwback Updates" or something.
I'm with you. If a silver ranking means it's what you expect for the grade, I'd say this either gets a silver-gold if MGEX is it's own tier, or a gold (*maybe* platinum) if it still counts as the MG tier. The suit itself is great, but all of the accessories are pretty meh. At >$200, it should all be rock solid.
Looks like silver to me. First of new line so no reference point. If its compared to MG in general then its aight. But its costs literally 3-4 times a usual MG and only slightly more interesting. Price to me almost drag it to bronze but it's still a cool kit so silvers fine
I dont see how this is more articulate than the hirm god gundam, heck the rg has the same if not more articulation than this,besides....god gundam will return in rg form to kick this guy's sideskirts.
I got this about a month back, loved it, great build great weapons great everything. But I messed up the leds in the right leg and the whole thing doesn’t work anymore. So word of warning to anybody whose gonna build it: the lights look to short on the legs, but they are the right length. Don’t pull to try and get more room… you’ll end up with two led strips… neither of wich function.
