Intended Impact: To push for (or just remind) creatives of the use of travel and movement in the formation of their drive, originality and focus. Drawing the link between physical travel, and how we can recognise genre and ways of working as a set of limitations to move through too. Leaving the artist feeling that if they are ever stuck, they know some more practical ways to escape this feeling of creative block, and feel empowered to take on a physical journey, or journey into a new genre or format, whether large or small.

The point you’re missing is; that everyone has lived experience, and that it is talent that catalyzes those experiences into great works of art.

I'll admit that I've not watched the video through yet but I wanted to say kudos to you, man. Your output and production of your own creativity -- on the subjecy of creativity -- is authentically grade A.

Yup. Inspiration seems to be everywhere else for me but the studio. The studio is where my Inspirations are used as fuel to produce art. But in order to actually build up that well of Inspiration I need to disconnect from the studio and go seek experiences. As always, love your videos.

Incredible vid so well put together and thoughtful. Art in any form to me is taking all your life experiences and thoughts and trying to express them through an emotional reflection through image or music.

Musical adaptability is something I am very interested in, so here are two examples. In Jazz, PeeWee Russell, my favorite clarinetist, started playing Dixie Land Jazz in the '20s; by the 60s, he was playing with Thelonious Monk. 'Nuff said. In Rock, it would have to be The Flaming Lips. If you were to play Oh My Gawd & Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot to someone who had never heard of them, they would think they were two completely different bands. I admire & respect this ability to change & grow both as one's views & craft changes & as the world around them continues its journey. I wish you well.

Love this. Thanks for dropping those examples in here. The ability to bring new ideas and inspiration through movement between genres or ways of working, was something I really wanted to put forward here - so I'm glad that piece of the video connected for you. I really aspire to be free in genre in my own work outside of video (and a little bit inside I guess), so thanks again for those examples.

@@lilbatty It's something I've been working on over the past 5 or 6 years. I've had moments of intense enthusiasm and work for periods of anywhere between a week to 4 months straight. I just don't know what triggers those moments. It's a slow burn but I consider it my life's work.

“I consider it my life’s work.” That sounds like a big burden to cary and a lot of pressure, I don’t think that I would ever release anything if I had that kind of mindset. Try changing that thought and the enthusiasm to do more work on a regular basis should come.

Walk 1000 miles? I’d rather have writer’s block

Never heard it b4 but the perspective is heavy. I’d do what I can but a 1k miles it’s a 1k miles 🤕 meditation detachment it’s like going for a bike ride or walking the streets of a city you’d notice so much more things you might never have.

@@Loch1210 It can be enjoyable to be in the wild. Most people die without going on a true adventure. Most need to know, need a plan to do anything, but it's only when those needs are let go that anything can happen. You'd be surprised at how enjoyable it can be, it's an experience, it can't be explained. And yeah, it sucks at first, but after a while, after you get over the need for a routine buzz of distraction, then it's you and adventure. I hiked/hitchhiked across the United States when I was 21, and when I was 27 I hiked the Appalachian trail. Both were enjoyable, sometimes because I stumbled onto a fun time, sometimes because times got hard, and I got to learn what I was made of. If you enjoy learning, then you'd enjoy it.
