Another well explained topic, Dave. I do sometimes try setting the white balance with a grey card, but that's about as much as I get into it. I should really take this into consideration more, especially when doing landscape photography (OK, so that isn't often).
Very informative as always mate! I started using manual white balance a couple of years ago. I'm not saying that I always get it right, but I've noticed my images are generally closer to the color I see than when using Auto WB. At the very least, I like the feeling of being in control of my images as much as possible - for better or for worse I guess. Always a great watch mate! Chat soon!
Great info, as always mate. I nearly always adjust in LR, but I will go manual with bluebells, as they can look really off on the back of the camera. Save with heather, as you say.
Thanks Dave. That's the best explanation of WB that I have seen. Could I suggest a follow up to this video, that goes through how to set WB manually (by that I mean the value). At the moment, I am not sure how to put my new knowledge into use, either in the field or in post! Cheers.
Having watched this I’d be keen to know about WB settings in mist - I’ve always left in camera to auto for everything but I was out on Monday shooting the Misty woodlands and wondered if I’d be better manually adjusting Dave ?
Great video Dave. I nearly always shoot with my WB set to ‘cloudy’ then adjust in post - your video has definitely challenged me to rethink that strategy, but it’s probably something I need to learn more about, perhaps in October. Are there any resources you can point to where i could learn more about it please? I sat here watching the video thinking “why has he chosen that particular k value for that instance?”.
@@martingoff-jones2184 Hi Martin, I've actually sat down with the laptop this morning to plan out my next video which will be diving into this subject with a bit more detail and insight. Hopefully that should be out in the next 10 days or so.
Hi mate, great explanation of the subject, i am guilty of leaving my white balance on auto for the most part and trying to correct in post. So maybe its time i concentrated more on this while out in the field. Top tips as always mate, hope your well, take care.
Thanks Lee, sorry for the late response mate, I'm trying to reduce my YT time during the week. Will hopefully have chance to catch up with your latest woodland vid this weekend.
