I have some birdie balls that were sent to me when I ordered a putting mat. I think the sound you picked up with mics was pretty close at impact, but from experience, the sound during flight, like you said is very different. Kinda fun sound. Because of the limited distance, I used to take them to my favorite parks and neighborhoods and imagine nine holes to play. Your channel is the most down to earth, fun, and addictive Golf video's to watch on RU-vid. I've been giving my thumbs up for a couple years now.Great work. Keep it up. Cheers Matt.

Just a heads up. The Birdie ball is supposed to go the same distance with full swings. Also they were created to work on your swing and making contact with the ball in non-range environments (local park or big backyard). The contact sounds really close to a real ball. @johncthomas61
@johncthomas61 4 года назад
@@rorylane4069 , Birdie Balls aren't appropriate for actual play. They only go 35 - 40 yards, regardless of what club you hit. I think they could help you groove your 3 wood and hybrid swing. Harder to do with the driver because they are hard to tee up (need a special contraption).

Got these a couple of weeks ago and could not be happier. I hit them from my driveway over the cul-de-sac to the other side. Longer clubs definitely go a bit further than the shorter ones and I do see a bit if a difference in height as well based on what club I am using. I used to practice with wiffle and foam balls but the birdie ball is so much more enjoyable to hit. Lets you know if you are slicing or drawing and feels absolutely great. Not exactly like hitting a real ball but feels so much better than the softer practice balls. It has helped my game tremendously.

I can hit low launch 7 iron shots that have a lot of spin. These things are literally the greatest practice ball on the market. 3 balls have lasted over 3 years in Michigan. I have 120 club speed and one partially cracked this week. Flies fine though. They draw and fade like a normal ball would. Where my clubface lies at impact is where the birdieball will end up, if hit on the center of the face. Buy a 3 pack and turn on some music, hit to a target and get some steps in cause these things WILL make you a better striker of the golf ball. They pop out of heavy rough if you hit the correct shot, they're tremendous

I purchased the Birdie Ball system to introduce golf to my PE classes. It was a great addition to my curriculum; I could teach golf in the gym and I don't need a net. If you have a yard set up to practice your golf with real balls, then I guess you wouldn't need Birdie Ball. But, if you have limited space, or you don't want to spend countless $$ at the driving range, then Birdie Ball is the way to go.

Americans are so spoiled with space - sports fields, parkland, grass practice areas, etc., nice to see MrShortGame hitting off a mat in his backyard. I deal with the constraints of urban Japan. The Birdie Ball is ideal for it - 50 meters of parking lot / park plus a small golf mat and you are good to go. It's not easy finding a place without people but that is Asia. The whooshy sound means good contact or seems to. Yes, all clubs go about the same distance, good shots and bad you'll know the difference. This guy is a piece of work, love his stuff.

MSG! I been using the birdie balls for years, forget about the sound it makes (although it did sound similar to the Pro V1). Hitting those are way better because when you get it up in the air no matter how high you hit it, at least you know you got solid contact. If you top a lot of shots birdie balls will help you tremendously. Great video though!

How far will they go? I have about 60 yards in my yard and don’t want to be stuck using 8 iron and below because they go too far. Also, can you hit them off grass. Seems like it would be difficult to make them stand straight.
@strongisland7015
@strongisland7015 3 года назад
@@Bosmo72 they all go about 60 yards no matter the club you use. Obviously you will be able to hit it farther with a 4 iron but it’s harder to hit with the lower clubs. I use the 7 iron just to get swings in. You get good flight with it. And it works fine off the grass, just be aware you will make divots 😁

"lets stay cheap here" says the man with skytrack and an in ground pool. I personally really like them. They draw and fade, sound pretty close to a golf ball at impact (more than a wiffle ball), you can feel it when you hit them (more than a wiffle ball). Cost is high, but I would rather hit them than wiffle balls any day.

I like the sound even if not pro v1 but the price is way to high..way,way too high but smart marketing if they had sale of buy one get 3... Dozen occasionally and used word of mouth not adds...i bought some used for 10 bucks and that seemed fair but i like to hit at least 50 or 75 real shags and pick up with a tube no back bending...do they have way to pick up easily..if so and large quanity mark down. They could be great for school teams practice in gyms...in off season or where space is problem. Good vid but again sounded good to me...find it hard to believe they cost morethan pennies to make..adds are real cost i bet. Curious how much 10,000 cost or 100,000. Anybody know what china would sell counterfit ones for,??? Right price i think a million or more could be sold easily..but they donot wear out and are hard to lose...japan and southkorea china woud love them with right price as would schools i think..maybe..maybe not😎

I've been using BB's for more than 2 yrs. This review is a bit harsh I think. I didn't see any junk about sounding just like a real golf ball when I bought them. I was interested in the shape they said they could create, and they definitely create shape. GREAT training for working on ball shaping. Of course the aerodynamics are completely and totally different from a real golf ball, so expecting distance and trajectory feedback is off base for the review. There is enough mass to the BB to get some feedback, unlike a foam or wiffle ball which gives zero club head feedback. However, they are not heavy enough for really being able to assess horizontal club face contact. For instance, I tend to strike outside toward the toe, and I can't get much sense of toe mishits with the BB - however, the sound and shaping are better when center contact is made. As far as thin and fat hits, the feedback is obvious. I have a net for hitting real balls, but for working on shot shaping I hit the BB. By the way, I always opt for "factory seconds" to keep the price down.

Buy the ‘seconds’ all day. Add longevity to the list of pros. I’ve tried very hard to kill them. The best I could do was create an imperfect circle. As for the flights, the way the tube grabs the air when the revs are high balloon the shot shape and restrict flight. You’ll never be able to control flight unless you blade them. You’ll be able to aim for windows then.

So the reasons are all different for everybody. I like them to warm up with prior to playing a round. Isn't that the point? I don't spend money on a bucket of balls, I don't have time to hit a bucket usually. I hit six of these for roughly 10 mins and I'm pretty loose for the first tee. I think they are great for that reason.

I've had them for a few years and they are definitely better for practice than a wiffle ball. They do fly slightly different with each club but its mainly launch angle that differs and they generally do climb to the same height. I hit my driver about 50% farther than a pitching wedge. They do slice and hook really easily so they are a great training aid if thats a problem for you. I put some reflective tape around them so they are easier to find and you can use a sponge for a tee (or just set one on top of another)

FYI, the mics are too close to the ball. So when you impact the ball, the sound is overdriving/clipping the input. And what you are hearing is distortion. Which is why both sound exactly the same. ;-) To hear the a more accurate representation you should've put the mics at a significant distance. (think overhead mics on a drumset).

The flight sounds different, but impact is VERY similar. They never claimed it sounds like a golf ball in flight. And besides who cares what it sounds like after you've hit it.

Love your videos but I think you missed the point here. Disclaimer - I've not watched any BB commercials so I didn't test them when I was already annoyed. If you hit the ball square every time - you are not going to learn anything from hitting a BB. I bought them to practice at home and to get some feedback on whether I was making progress with some recent lessons. That turbine sound they make is an indication that the ball was struck soundly (no pun intended). If you slice it, you'll see that. If you hook it, you'll see that. If you hit it fat or thin, they don't fly and they don't make the woo woo sound. The feedback for someone trying to eliminate a slice is excellent. As for the price point, hitting a ball at my local driving range costs me $0.10 to $0.15 per ball. So, if you hit the same BB 16 to 25 times, cost is about the same. Hit it 50 times without losing it and you're money ahead. I just wish the dog would retrieve them.

Sounded the same to me at impact. Not a big fan of the price tag or shape. Whiffle balls are cheaper but, they probably don't last as long. Great Video:)

I’ve been using the birdie balls for a while now and like using them and no they do not sound anything like a real golf ball. One reason I prefer them over whiffle balls is the weight of them becgreause the wind doesn’t effect them as much and unlike you the driver and three wood goes farther than the irons overall I think it’s a decent product but like you said they’re a little expensive they do last quite a while but over time they do crack great review

So since it is flat in the front where they make contact with the club unlike a spherical golf ball the loft isn't going to change much because they are just following the swing pattern. They do look fun and I want to try them. But those orange foam rubber dimpled practice balls are still the best I think. Definitely foam over the wiffle balls

Uh, no. You’re right, with the woods did sound like a ball but not the irons. And you’re right, too much $$ compared to other options. Thanks Matt.

What do you use in your backyard? I can’t get a full swing on a regular ball or even on a Nerf/foam ball. I keep crushing/ Collapsing Wiffleball’s!

What I do like about them you could use them to practice looking at the lable to focus when lining up to a ball like your other video

Impact it does sound close. The ball flight you can tell the difference but that's because of the open holes on the balls

I like my birdi balls There a lot of fun when sharping your swing in your yard Whiffle balls are a joke compared to birdie balls The take off sound of the birdie balls is different and keeps you wanting to hit it again It’s just for practices in combined spaces Have some fun with them 👍
