Blundstone boots review. The Blundstone 500 Chelsea boots reviewed and cut in half to see whats inside and if Blundstone lives up to all the hype. Blundstone boots are made in Australia and have been popular recently. Are Blundstone boots any good is one of the most common questions i get asked and this video answers that question.

Agree one of the best wearing and most comfortable boot although the safety boot with the steel cap rubs on my little toe. Note all safety boots I have ever had rub on my little toe as I have f..k up feet. In order to stop this I buy a size larger and were Extra Thick Work Socks. I have tried work boots from Redback, Mongrel, Steel Blue, Blundstone. Baxters and meany more. The worst boots I have ever warn were from a Russian Manufacturer and a USA Manufacturer who's names I can't remember both issues by a mining company when I work in PNG. I suspect the company went with the cheapest quote as such the boots lasted less then a month before they rotted away from the wet and muddy conditions. Further most of the local employees had very wide feet and there toes didn't make it into the steel cap. The company finely after several safety incidents arranged for a couple Australian manufacture to fly a rep to site and measure ever local employees feet so as to make boots suited for the local employees. I got fed up with replacing my boots so I purchases as set of Redback and some Joseph Lyddy Neutral Waterproofing Dubbin cleaned them ever day and applied the Dubbin they lasted 2 years were most boots only lasted 6 month max.

ive got the dress 2029 Chelsea blundstone. bought them 4 years ago, I wear them casually , not for work. very comfortable, very light, good looking. perfect for my needs. don't want an 2 lb [ slight exaggeration ] iron ranger , with triple sole, leather this and that...[ ive had those] sure they're over built but not as comfortable and light for my lifestyle. if your a logger, fine go buy a hotshot nicks boot., I get it. loving my BS's

@@RoseAnvil Please do a comparison between the Blundstone 500 and the Ariat Barn Boot. I've dropped mad money on Ariats over the years and I suspect they aren't all that, quality-wise. Because of your review I went ahead and got a pair of Solovairs to use as my equestrian boots. God, they're so much more comfortable than my Ariat paddock boots. Thanks, all thumbs-ups and one new sub. Best wishes. ;-)

That is more than Service. It is not reasonable to ask after nine years for a replacement. That sounds like a company trying to capture market share. There is a reason Hyundai has the 10/100,000 warranty.

Hey dude, I'm a cobbler from the Netherlands and just wanted to say you're doing an amazing job on these videos! You mentioned making a video about the different materials used in soles, and I'm actually really interested in what you can come up with. I actually have a TV in my shop where I have your channel on a playlist, so people will watch your content while waiting for repairs. Very informative overall, 5 stars.
@chanceopinion
@chanceopinion 4 года назад
Also on subject of the video you asked people if these boots last for a long time, the foam used to make the sole so comfy is actually an Achilles heel in terms of durability. Once the wearing layer on the bottom runs through this foam gets exposed to moisture, on which the foam simply falls apart after a while. I mostly recommend to watch out for that exposure and resole a rubber layer to protect the inner foam using Polyurethaan glue (like the euro brand Wakol Plastocoll) together with 5% hardener. Apply, let set and reactivate with a heating gun. The edges are a bit iffy, so I finish those with some Cyano-Acrylate glue.

I really appreciate the support and suggestions. It is good to know I am not totally butchering these videos in which a cobbler is more of an expert than I am, just being a leather worker. But I continue to try and educate my self on the trade and topic of cobbling and shoes.

I bought a pair of these boots in Toronto about 8 years ago. Last year one of the inner layers of one boot cracked, making it very uncomfortable to wear. I went back to the same store on Queen West, they determined that it was a manufacturing issue and gave me a new pair. No hassle and they were really nice about it. Fantastic boots and a serious commitment to customer satisfaction. Impressive to say the least!

As an Aussie, I’ve owned several pairs over the last 30 years - one of the best wearing and most comfortable work boots ever. Give them a polish and you can wear them out as well. Great value for the price when you consider they should last 5+ years and a regular coat of bees wax makes them pretty waterproof.

I've been using Blunstone boots for well over 40 years. I've tried others, but keep coming back to the Blunstones. They are cheaper in Australia, my latest pair were around $125. I typically get about 2 years with everyday farm use and virtually no maintenance. They do tend to take on a bit of water in really wet conditions - the leather gets damp so I hose the mud off and dry them in front of the fire. The sole wears pretty well and the TPU starts to crack after about 18 months continual usage. I have a pair of the Blunstone "dress" boots for weekends or travelling, now into their 10th year and starting to show signs of wear, but excellent for what they've been through.
@blainejeff
@blainejeff 5 месяцев назад
I've been wearing Blunnies for about 40 years. Like another commenter said they're good for about 2 or 3 years of continuous use on the farm. I think they're very waterproof, the leather may get damp but my socks are always dry. Even the elastic upper seems to be waterproof. The first thing to go is the TPU sole, I've never had the pull loops come off or any of the stitching fail. Like any shoe, they last longer if you maintain the uppers and generally keep them clean. They're a great boot for the money and make going through airport security a breeze.

Interesting note from their website that's worth a mention "For those with a wider foot, we suggest you select a half size up. When you buy a Blundstone half size, the footbed is exactly the same size as the non-half size. So what’s the difference? Our half sizes have a little more leather in the upper of the boot, providing extra room for people with wider feet."

I've gone through 2 pairs of 500 series Blundstones and I LOVE THEM. Good for all 4 seasons in most of British Columbia, super comfy, and they can dress-up a bit with some polish, and survive 2 seasons working outdoors on farms. The yellow memory foam tab at the heel wore out in my first pair, which held up for 2.5 years but a year and a bit later, my second pair are holding up just fine. I don't work outdoors anymore, so I suspect they'll last even longer.

@irregularassassin6380

@@kjs3431 I purchased their winterized pair a couple of years back. They've held up really well, and are warmer than their 500s. They make a nice pair of city-wearing winter boots for Southern Ontario. Effective, light, and still a bit dressy. They aren't as grippy as a proper -40 degree rated winter boot, but I never expected them to be. As long as I'm attentive to the sidewalk, I have very few problems.

Come on lmao they're about as stable on ice as doc martens (which is near level 0 of friction resistance) and as soon as you step in 1ft+ of snow you're fucked. Unless your understanding of winter use is to walk to the subway station or bus stop but eh I can do all that in crocs too.

I JUST got Blundstone's for my birthday a few weeks ago and I basically live in these. So comfy, easy to walk in, and yes, my ankles are wonky so the pull straps and elastic feel great. After a month ro so, the leather has gotten these beautiful detailed imperfections along the leather because I've gotten into the sand, walked on ice and through some light snow, and I generally just trip over my own feet quite a bit. After wearing every day and getting more into terrain, everything is holding up so nicely. Also: just read up on the company's history through WWI and WW2, pretty cool. It's worth a read when there's time!

I was in the same boat, but we are lucky in the sense that our boots are old. The new foam inner sole comes at a cost in that a replacement sole cannot adhere to it nearly as well as the solid rubber in the old models. I've also had to replace the elastic in the cuff of the boot, as those wear out relatively quickly.

I need orthotics in my (fairly small choice of ergonomic) shoes and so I really appreciate that you mentioned that detail. When the podiatrist first gave me my orthotics, he ripped and shredded out the original glued on insole (they were cheap boots but very comfortable) and the orthotic didn't sit very well on the ripped out foam. He then gave me a list of criteria for a new shoe that I've found impossible to meet, so yeah - I'm loving this channel for looking up the quality and durability of pricer boots and I appreciate that you included that detail

They hold up great as long as you take care of them. I’ve seen many customers have their blundstones for longer than 10-15 years and blundstone is great and will usually fix most issues or replace the whole boot. Great customer service there. It’s great that this boot also moulds to your feet as well. The arch is great in the boot but I’ve heard the arch and footbed is better in the Australian red back boots. I personally don’t have a pair of those yet but they look just as good. The blundstones are designed in Australia but are not made in Australia anymore like the red backs still are.

I'm from Tasmania, Australia. Blundstones were originally made here, for a long time. My stepmother did an apprenticeship as an industrial machinist back in the 60s. They have moved most of their production to Thailand I believe, but they are still made to a high Australian standard. Nice boots and they last forever.

My Blundstones just turned 13 years old! I wear them from late fall thru to 'sandal season' here in Canada. I just discovered the sole of one is cracked almost the full depth, all the way across the ball of the foot! Not sure how long it's been that way, but when I put them on, I can't even feel it! They are still as comfy as ever! So as an experiment, I'm going to keep wearing them and see how long they last. The second the leak, or become uncomfortable, they're done! I'll let you know! I bought a pair of 'chisel toe' blundstones in 2008 in Toronto and they lasted about 7 years... which included 4 years of Ottawa winters. Took 2 months to painfully break them in but was worth it (chisel toes are tricky but look nice IMO). That comfy foam + thin TPU sole combination is their weakness as you can't re-heal them and the foam starts to seriously disintegrate at year 6.

I have had blundstones for the past 5 years rock them every day only recently had to have them resold. They are super comfortable and easy to put on. When I first purchased them I went travelling for a month in the desert and hiked 20+ K days in them, super light boot. I work as a Paramedic in Canada and I know a lot of people both in the Fire service and Paramedic service that use them because you can have your boots off for a moment and then on in a second. I personally may purchase another work pair but don't think I will get another personal pair. I like the hand crafted vibe more and I enjoy the ability to lace up my boots and have them be something a bit different from the norm.

We call them Blunnies as a slang name in Australia. I've worn out a dozen over the last 40 years, but they lasted 5 yrs a piece. Production used to be in Tasmania, but like most everything now in China. Super comfortable, but be careful of you drown them, the toe box will get deformed and fold down on your toes if you shrink the outer leather.. Little things , They also have the generous length in the pull tabs, other steel caps I have are a bit shorter and really a pest. They take polish well, and will reward you if you feed the leather. I use two pair on alternate days to keep them dry and fresh. Try the 200 model too.

I'm showing the yellow heal foam at the moment and they are still going strong. Still go through puddles no problem. I've polished the uppers every other day when I'd wear these in the office & used a dab or two of "ShoeGoo" in the pat to counter the pronation wear in the heal strike of my gait, totally works without any weird feeling.

I’ve worn blundstones for almost 20 years, almost everyday, minus some of the summer months, and I’m on my third pair, that should say a lot about these boots. My current pair is going on 6 years. Will be getting another pair when these wear out. Cons would be the soles wear out and not replaceable unless you want a third party sole. The stitching around the heel will wear out, and toe cap will fall apart over years of use. Also, in Canada, everybody wears them. Almost a unofficial boot of Canada. Going to house parties, the front hallways are always full of blundstones.

I have worked as a Traffic Controller for many years in Melbourne Australia, I honestly have bought so many different brands of boots over the years trying to find a pair that is the dream boot, I'm on my feet for at least 9 hrs per day but sometimes up to 16 hrs per day 5 to 6 days a week so this channel about the inside of boots is very exciting for me, I began my traffic control career 11 years ago wearing The Blundstone boot, They are a good boot for someone who isn't on their feet for long periods of time, They are a very rigid boot the soles are quite hard, Then the law changed in the traffic control and the construction industry so that we had to wear boots that had laces + a side zipper, here are my personal favs 1: CATERPILLAR boots lace up + side zipper & bump cap, These boots are the absolute Bomb Awsome, Sooo comfortable & No sore spots or blisters you can get when first wearing a new boot, I swear by these boots, They last forever, Like walking on a cloud, They are expensive at $260, But well worth it. 2: MONGRELS, Lace up side zipper & bump cap, Also like walking on a cloud really comfy, & No breaking in blisters or sore spots, I would buy these boots again in a heartbeat, BUT they don't last long for someone who wears them 5 to 6 days a week on their feet for hours, They wore out for me after only 6 months, The price is reasonable though I bought for $125 3:OLIVERS,: Lace up side zipper + bump cap, I don't like these boots, I found them quite uncomfortable even after the initial breaking in blisters + sore spots and the sole was hard and rigid, Can't recall what I paid for them, But NO! 4: RED BACKS: Pretty much the same as the Blundstone , They are a good boot, I know people that swear by them, Not for me, Way to hard & rigid + the sole isn't that thick, could feel rocks & stones underneath my feet, 5: UA STELLAR TACTICAL, I first bought these boots 8 years ago and found them to be Awsome really comfortable & extremely light weight, I bought them online though from the USA Paid $150, every bit worth the money, They got stolen from outside my house, BUT, I have seen in recent review's on them since they've been updated they are no where like the original boot, 6: So I have just bought a new pair after 2 years wearing my CATERPILLAR BOOTS, Yes they finally wore out I have bought a sexy pair of women's boots by SHE WEAR : LAVENDER COLOR BOOT, Lace up, side zipper + bump cap, AND I've had them on for approx 2 hrs, And they are killing my feet already " Damm it" at $199, I expected comfort, The insert sole inside the boot is thin & hard, There light to wear & sooo pretty, But I believe I have made a mistake 😭 I'll let you know how I go in a couple of weeks, Kinda stuck with them now, Baaahhhh
