Did you know that ceramic coatings when they cure they dry as hard coating on top of the clear coat it protects. Meaning that it swirls and gets surface scratches as well as the elements hit it car washes. Its a lie that they last a very long time. The only way to get swirls out is to polish it out if you use a polish on ceramic coatings use a strip soap product or dawn dish soap or go through a carwash weekly. It will remove the coating or they will become hazy just like the clearcoat of your car. They mess up your towels don't try to wash them there toast throw them away. Like I said this stuff dries up hard like little shards of glass. The reason the process or steps its takes to apply this product is so extensive is because they don't want the diy person or someone who is capable of maintaining his or hers own vehicle. So they talk bad about the product thats been around for years thats easy to apply. This stuff cost over 50 to 100s of dollars and depending on the size of the vehicle you will go through that small bottle. The cost to have this crap applied is astronomical 1500 dollars and up. So when I hear Wax is dead no it is not is affordable and all you have do is stay up on your weekly or bi weekly or even monthly detailing I do monthly because the product I use lasts at least a couple months. Also a little goes a long way with wax he was using or applying to much wax and thats why he was getting more residual left behind and not letting it sit until it hazes over. It tells you on the can what to do its not rocket science. I know this because I have been detailing cars and trucks for over 37 years and I have refined my skills to know when I see a snake oil salesman. Also I have used this product and tried every ceramic out there and there all the same. They SUCK. Ill stick to my Carnuba WAX. P.S. That was a cream wax from turtle wax not paste he was using.

I had my car ceramic coated and it looked beautiful. 2 years later when it started to wear off looked horrible like the clear coat was failing. Have fun trying to get it off your car. I now use a soft canuba wax that I have to apply more but then I can easily strip it off whenever I want.

I’ve been washing and waxing cars for about 50 years, and I personally love the hard work and applying/wiping off the wax. With the onset of ceramic coating(s), it sounded almost too good to be true. So I’ve done a lot of reading & research on ceramic coating and I’m still not sold on the idea of it, pretty much the same way I’m not sold on the EV craze sweeping across the country. I’ve used paste wax, liquid wax, and spray wax of which spray wax is my least favorite and produces the least desired results. Paste wax is still my favorite and I try all kinds of new ones as long as it’s paste wax.

I understand your position on carnauba wax products versus ceramic coatings which is your very own business. The fact is, a high quality carnauba wax product, for example a Swisswax Concorso or a Swisswax Crystal Rock, they create magic, especially on dark beautiful metallic paints on noble classic sports cars, that no ceramic product can generate. Carnauba wax creates a warm, soft, very deep gloss that is, and remains to this day, my 1st choice for my very expensive classic and modern sports cars. Ceramic, however, is undoubtedly good for a modern, rather technical sports car or a daily driver. But, that’s just my personal opinion and preference, of course.

Got going with all necessary steps to do a proper coating. Upon realizing I'd need minimum 10 more hours of correction (after already being about 20 hours in), I said screw it & threw on Instawax w/ a Ceramic detailer to top it off. Coating is where it's at, but the prep time, cure time, & minimum 48 hrs without getting it wet is a very hard trio to align. Even the smallest missed imperfections held me off to wait til it can be (close) to perfect before install, while wax can still be applied over almost invisible scratches or stubborn remnants of tar on rear quarter (that somehow go unnoticed until too late!)

I use Turtle Wax Hard Shell cream… $6.99 at Wal Mart. It contains a very mild cleaner that removes contaminates and very slight swirls and abrasions. I apply it lightly and it takes all of a matter of minutes per panel to apply. I allow it to dry for a few minutes and wipe it off with one towel and buff it with another. It is not difficult and doesn’t hurt my shoulders I can wax my entire Kia Sorento in under an hour easily. Lasts anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

For me, I prefer a very high quality carnauba paste wax rather than ceramic coating. I understand the benefits to ceramic coating. But, even with the beautiful shine the ceramic coating produces, it just doesn't look as warm as those really good paste waxes. It just doesn't. I am sure many will beg to differ. Also, there is just a depth or natural reveal of the paint, or maybe it is something organic about the looks of the paste wax that I admire most and can see and appreciate.

This is just an advertisement, I use Liquid Pearl from Superior Products. Nothing compares. You need to learn how to do it by hand. If don’t do it correctly you will have a hard time getting it off. Just don’t let it dry. It will last about 10 months. No lie.

I don't like ceramic coatings. At the molecular level, it's like trapping your paint in glass. It bonds to the clear coat and as it ages, actually chips away in some spots and stays bonded in others. I've seen cars look amazing while the coating was done, then when the coating wore off, the original finish looked worst than had they simply just left it alone and used traditional waxes and sealants. You wouldn't want to spread crazy glue all over your face and leave it there for 3 months, So why cover your car in basically liquid glass and think that your not damaging the original clear coat.
@CeramicPROUSA
@CeramicPROUSA Год назад
I understand your concern, but we'd like to address a few misconceptions for clarity. Ceramic coatings are not like "trapping your paint in glass." They are made up of nanoscopic silicon dioxide layers on top of the car's clear coat. This layer is very thin and flexible, unlike glass, and its primary purpose is to provide protection to the paint and make it easier to clean. When a ceramic coating is properly applied and maintained, it does not chip away the clear coat. The coating bonds with the clear coat to create a durable protective layer. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!
@Shadowman...
@Shadowman... Год назад
@@CeramicPROUSA Thank you for your detailed explanation. I didn't realize it was silicon dioxide. I guess seeing that it has an oxygen component linked with the silica, it would be something that at least can breath and flex.I had a negative view towards it because of the huge amount of work involved to prep as well as having to discard all microfiber towels.
@morgan1800
@morgan1800 Год назад
Silicon dioxide is glass fellows…. And thin glass is flexible: think of fiber optics. So you are both mostly right. 4:49

There are pros and cons to ceramic and wax. Ceramic does last longer but does not have the best glass glossy shine like traditional quality wax. wax give a beautiful depth of color and that glassy gloss you cannot get from ceramic. Ceramic is just a functional protectant and is VERY limited. It's over rated and does NOT offer the exaggerated protection all these ceramic companies advertise. Its hydrophobic, "helps" cleaning your car a little better, makes maintenance a little easier. It's NOT worth the cost and effort. When it starts to wear off, it looks terrible!Waxing your car is part of the love and bonding experience you are having with your car. Car lovers who love their cars want to clean and touchup their cars regularly so waxing is something car lovers want to do. Waxing is something that can be done over and over easily. It's a labor of love. You can maintain that beautiful look ALL THE TIME with waxing. Waxing will give you protection from the elements just like ceramic. As far as the shine and finish, wax wins hands down! Ceramic is close, but car lovers want the best shine, so wax is it. Ceramic protection is not that much better, it just lets you not have to maintain as much. You STILL have to maintain ceramic or it won't look Its best. Gotta use toppers, and their are so many more advertised maintenance products now which proves you have to maintain it regularly. Waxing is the best choice, you still have control of how the car will look, you will be able to enjoy the polishing that car guys and gals love doing regularly to keep it looking better than new. Wax has been around forever and proven. Just my opinion and my experience. Ceramic still has its benefits but I can't justify the prep, cost and the little bit of extra protection and not have the beautiful finish you can only get from a good traditional buff and wax. You still get scratches, rock chipping, ect.
@CarFinanceSimplified
@CarFinanceSimplified 5 месяцев назад
Couldn't agree more. If you keep across regular maintenance, I much prefer a decent wax with a regular top up spray. I've applied ceramic coatings in the past but now prefer to just go for wax / sprays regularly.

Great content, love it! I ceramic coated my car last year, it's always garaged and kept very clean and is still smooth to the touch. I'd like to add some wax protection now, can I just add some carnuba wax like Meguiar's Gold Class, maybe Deep Crystal or should I use a 3 in 1 Cleaner Wax like Meguiar's or Griot's? Thanks!

After having my car professionally ceramic coated, can I DIY apply wax after wash? I mean, I used to do that before I got it coated. I want to treat it like I am now protecting my ceramic coating to last longer rather than just letting it hold for itself. Does it affect the overall performance of the ceramic coating? Will it look dull when the wax is wearing off.
@stephenlouden480
@stephenlouden480 Год назад
you can do what you want to. but should you. absolutely not. only wash and protect the ceramic coated surface with dedicated ceramic products. whatever ceramic coating you have there should be a soap and a ceramic spray you can get from them to maintain and prolong the life of the coating.. Carpro, and Gyeon have amazing products that work on most coatings. the problem is that using wax on a coating ...you mask the properties of the coating until the wax wears off. why hide the ceramic coating with a wax.. let it do its thing. just use a ceramic detailer booster after your wash 👍
