Boston Rob seems to be one of the most genuine people who has ever played the game. I've never felt like the fame went to his head in any of the seasons I saw him on. Even when the other contestants fawn over him, he still always comes across to me as a down to earth, cool dude.
Did you watch this interview at all? He literally said he wouldn't do the season until they informed him they had built a larger then life statue of him. Then he decided to do it. Nothing screams ego more than that. You can't see past your own image of the man. If you asked him for an autograph, he would threaten to call the police on you.😅
Two things: This is the BEST Boston Rob interview I’ve ever seen or heard. You’re really good at getting people to talk naturally to you. Plus, Boston Rob, you just rock. Also, for a while, Big Brother was only casting young, pretty people who didn’t even know the game in hopes of getting another “Brenchel” or Jeff and Jordan. Survivor actually looks for people who know and love the game. EVERY contestant is a super fan instead of it being a unique thing like it is on Big Brother.
Not necessarily. Survivor recruits personalities regardless of their fandom or lack thereof of Survivor. Earl from Survivor Fiji was recruited and had never seen the show.
@@doyoudothemost it did early on. Rob Cesternino was the first super fan to play and almost got to the end. And there’s Cochran. But we also see super fans overthinking and getting booted out pre merge. Now it’s all just super fans, so the playing field is level on that point. It’s interesting to note that the GOAT Tony doesn’t watch the show. He’s definitely not a super fan.
You’re a great conversationalist. You put so much effort and energy into genuinely listening and responding to your guest while also being able to find the smooth segue into your next question. Well done!
LOVE Survivor, love Rob and Amber and their whole story, and Island of the Idols was one of my favorite seasons. I hope they do more, and with teams of other icons. Great interview!
@@doyoudothemost So glad it's finally here, but not liking some of the changes. I am hoping as covid goes away, the rewards will get better; miss the letters from home and the final big show. But what can we do? I love it no matter what. Some visits from icons would spice things up! I love my Boston Rob!!
15:47 - this is a great question. A lot of my successes in life informed the way that I developed afterward. I started an online business when I was 20 that did quite well and the confidence I gained from it has morphed and snowballed and still contributes to my successes a decade later.
I loved Boston Rob! From the first time I watched- When Boston Rob was Amber got together- that was the best ever! Rob is a great player and a very genuine guy!

Since Rob fell in love with Amber. Rob now has like 5 Amber's in his life now. I know they all have different names. I enjoy rewatching their true love story. Great family. I'm also a fan of survivor because watching their videos. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE😀👍
Rob said he wont go back as a player but when Jeff decides to step down Rob would be the perfect replacement. The question is would he say yes then and go back as the host?
I adore Rob. I had never heard of Survivor until season 39, and I was hooked. It was at the conclusion of season 40 that we were told we could watch every season of Survivor on Paramount+, and I would watch well into the night. I couldn't believe how things changed from season 1. Everyone from the producers to Probst to the contestants just kept changing each season, and thankfully the changes were all positive. After the pandemic, when they went to 26 days, it took away from the show, so I've been disappointed from that, but seeing how the years have taken a toll on Jeff, I'm sure that has something to do with it. I don't remember how much younger than me he is, Rob is a lot younger than me, but he is my overall favorite. I think the reason we didn't see more of Ozzy is like what Rob mentions about returning players who are good, they don't last long. I couldn't stand Parviti, and as much as I can't stand the Hantz family, they sure kept it interesting. I was thrilled when Rob and Amber finished one and two, then engaged on the reunion show and have been married since months after that season. Cirie could be me these days. I was an athlete when I was young, but injuries and age have taken too much of a toll on me plus I would need a separate suitcase for my daily meds, so I don't think they would ever call me unless they choose to do a geriatric Survivor. There were so many over the years who I was thrilled to see returning and of course there are those who I never wanted to see again.
Just wanted to say you are a very talented interviewer! You let the guest speak and ask questions with curiosity and an attitude that makes you want to keep listening. I kept wondering how you made this connection with Rob for the interview or did you know each other before? Thanks for entertaining me during my evening treadmill walk!
No doubt Rob is one of the best ever, he understood the game in a way like no other n Redemption Island was like Kobe's contract at the end... A sort of thank you Rob.
I'm a big Survivor fan from season 1, even bigger Boston Rob fan. This was his best interview. Congrats Shannon@ Hope u do someday get to play and I'll be rooting for you!!!
People hate it when I say this, but I absolutely hate seasons 41 and so far season 42. First of all, Survivor is 39 days, not 21, 23 or whatever it is lately. Let's be honest, The challenges are a thing of the past. What once was the challenges being the huge component with snippets of the social game is now all about today's issues and topics being the center of attention for the new casts, black, white, gay, straight, trans... who cares, leave it at home and PLAY SURVIVOR ! Most people watch Survivor to get away from what is going on the world, not having to hash out all of the crap every Wednesday night. And it is not even appealing anymore. Bring back the bikinis and muscles and less of the woe is me CRAP !
Good to know some of the questions they ask you. Kind of obvious questions but answering those you gotta think outside the box. I have seen many audition tapes, probst interviews, survivor interviews, now has me prepared to make a better audition tape that captures the casting crews imaginations. It's obvious when you watch the show -- that every contestant has a story that emotionally connects with the audience.
Some people, unique people, have the personality that draws people and you want to see them win or just do well. I rooted for him everytime. Have to say ozzy, Rob, Ben, and joe are my all time favorites. Most people that watch have an interpretation of what makes an ultimate survivor. I loved seeing someone win who actually knew how to survive. I think most people agree especially when you see the crowd reactions for ozzy, joe, Rupert, Ben and Rob. People want to see them win because we feel they deserve it. The million that Rupert won should have been given to ozzy twice and Rob another time.
Clearly the most charismatic player of all time. That smile could melt ice on a cold winter night. There is a reason the network keeps calling him back. He is just fun to watch. Sad to see an immortal on the screen get old and fat :( He was dominant despite his physique. Get in shape Rob and come back. And to the 10 survivors who have passed away, may you rest in peace in survivor heaven. Greatest show of all time. Binge-watch always. Wish I would have submitted. Too old now :(
not bad. the details about the insects I liked and how the production people thought to care for the welts. haha I liked that he studied Psychology just like Jeff Probst so no wonder they both clik. the things he mentioned what the audition looks for what are you going to do with the money? and why survivor : Adventure best answer .
Great interview, and Rob's observations about how much the game has changed since he and Amber won it so true, and the reason I can't watch the show anymore. From the start, a player who communicated well with others, contributed to the tribe and was good at winning challenges was going to get far in the game. Now it's all about virtue signaling, race baiting, sexual orientation, and just how weird you were in your audition tape. Pretty much describes almost everything CBS produces these days. I am certain that their viewership has fallen dramatically, but looks like CBS and the producers don't even care about their viewers anymore.

At 31:30 Rob says: “Nobody wants to hear that you’re going to invest it.” AHA! Kenzie in Survivor 46 said exactly that, but in a way that was so honest “I don’t want to be an old lady doing rinse jobs” (hair salon). And won with exactly that answer. I thought Rob was a Lunk Head. Shows what I know. Listening to him as a revelation. Not Lunk head. Complex guy. Maybe a good guy.
my wife and i have been a fan of the show from the beginning, and the last couple seasons starting to become a turn off as seems to become more about peoples sexual preferences, and too much race and other background comes in. another most of the persons on now seem to be unable to really care for themself outside of what they grew up around. i think the show should bring back the early years of challenges, eating the cultural items..., amazing how some have gotten other tv gig's then disappear.
I so loved the older shows of Survivor. The last 2 seasons are horrible. I don’t care about peoples personal lives-gay, straight, etc. Just get some real players,not all these whining people. And go back to just a couple immunity idols.
Ghost Island laid a blueprint on how to play the game. The favorite moment of all time is when Sandra made Russel Hanz get rid of coach. I don't want to see Rob play anymore, as he is a huge target. Watching him play other roles on the show will always be welcomed. Both Sandra and Rob had super fans/contestants crying in awe, that speaks volumes of how iconic they really are.

Sandra's one and only move on Heroes V Villains is the best Moment?????😭😭😭I agree rob. Probably shouldn't play again but I'd definitely be happy to see him back out on the island. I feel like your just a Big Fan if Her and overlook how Bad at the game she is.
Sandra and her daughter were on the most recent Survivor Australia season. Sandra got voted out pretty quickly and her daughter Nina was unfortunately removed because of injury.
@@michellethomas8442 or it saved us from her incessant vanity. If I heard her say ‘Queen stays queen’ or ‘I’m the queen’ one more time, I thought I might projectile vomit. Her daughter, on the other hand was a superb player and I was disappointed for her (and us, the viewers) that she left the game via injury.
