I bought a chili pad over two years ago and it is stellar. I love it and I go as cool as it can go even in the winter. I recommend it if you are a problem sleeper. I don’t wake as often as I used to. I’m a tosser and turner and the cooling pad helps me get a better quality sleep. Go for it. Great product.

well 77 in phoenix is pretty normal. It feels like 72 due to lack of humidity. 77 back in Michigan was HOT!

I have been struggling with this. I live in Phoenix and my fucking mother wants the house at 85 degrees. Every fucking year I don't get a single good night of sleep after temps go above 90. It is driving me INSANE @@lemazingkingdom4318

Ideal sleeping temp is as cold as possible. 🧊 ❄️. I keep my room at 65⁰ because that is as cold as it gets. I still wake up sweating.

Bought a ChiliPad in March 2021. I returned it twice last year because it sounded like a jet taking off (of course they wanted proof of this, so I had to grab my phone in the middle of the night to record it).. Then in May (2022), the pump stopped. It took me a week to receive a return label. Another for it to be delivered to them. And they've had it for 4-weeks. I've become so accustomed to sleeping cool that I looked at other options. I bought a BedJet and I absolutely love it! Didn't know if I would because I was accustomed to the cooling feeling coming up from under me. But the BedJet is so much better! It's whisper quiet. It doesn't stop working in the middle of the night because it needs water and you can also set up various Biorhythms. Wish I would have invested in the BedJet first. BTW..I purchased a ChiliPad for another family member and now that one is squealing through the night too! Save yourself the headaches and get a BedJet!

The first night that I used it was a bad experience. I woke up and when I got out of bed, I forgot the unit was on the floor. I stepped on it, fell into my nightstand knocking my lamp to the floor (that broke). As I was turning to gain my balance, I reached out for something to grab and pulled my tv off the wall (that broke). I tried to save my tv, but threw my back out. I then fell onto the floor, ass first onto the broken bulb from the lamp. I had to get 8 stitches in my ass. Luckily, it didn't hurt when the glass when in, because my ass was still numb from the ChiliSleep. Other than that, it's a great product!

I purchased an Ooler Sleep Me unit, which turned out to be defective - the unit would not turn on at all! Not to mention it was very cheaply-made. I attempted to contact Chili Sleep customer support by phone, but was directed to voicemail each time I called for several days. When I finally heard back from a representative from Chili sleep, she arranged for me to return the unit (this is after many unanswered communications - the customer service was awful!). Even though I returned the item, Chili Sleep continued to bill installments of $150.00 to my credit card for the unit. I notified Chili Sleep via email (since I can't get through by phone), and they replied, stating that they will issue a refund within 5 to 10 business days. Well that was over a month ago and they continued to charge my credit card (now four $150 installments). This company is fraudulent and does not keep its word. I now have to dispute these charges with my credit card company. I will also mention that the pad that came with the unit was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. It is full of hard tubing - I don't know how anyone can sleep on that! Terrible product and terrible company - buyer beware!

I am stunned how you want us to buy a nectar mattress, which is perfoming awful bad for you that you needed to spend a grand to buy a chilipad. I am I wrong to think that you bought the chili to solve the problem of sleeping hot due to that nectar cheap foam? I just dropped a couple grand on a mattress only someone in the arctic might want to sleep on. We are literally burning in sleep. I am sick of paid youtube reviews! I better smarten up cause i am throwing way too much money out of the window having seen all the pumps on here.

i like our Nectar especially for the price. i think a lot of people would like it and the trail period. Its just we live in Phoenix so no matter what we sleep on...its HOT. If you want, you can always buy a window AC unit and try that too. It might be cheaper. I am not sure. This ChiliPad was sent to us and it is great for regulating heat at night and it even warms us up in the winter so we don't need our heater on. You can always try one out for yourself.

Streetknoww yeah I am not sure the ChiliPad will make your bed nicer. But it will help with temps. Just keep your expectations real since it’s not an AC unit. I think maybe a window AC unit might be more of what you need if you need it cold cold!

It seems very durable 1/4" tubing so i don't think you could break it unless you snapped the connector at the top or bottom with you foot or head depenedig on where you put it.

Based on this JRE podcast (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pwaWilO_Pig.html) and your review, I've pulled the trigger on an Ooler (ChiliPad's sibling) for my wife's Christmas present. "The change" plus our 100# doberman in bed with us makes her sleep restlessly . . . often complaining that she's burning up. I think this product will result in better quality sleep, which, in turn, will help with her fitness and weight loss goals. TBD. Fingers crossed. P.S. Joe's guest---Matt Walker---says socks and gloves are recommended, so that would address Mrs. Patton's literally cold feet. Thanks for the review. Happy holidays.

Lol in Tucson here- we have our ac set to 78 (I cheat on my super hot nights and put it at 76...). I’m through with sweating the night away (and not sleeping all night) looking at older/chilipad now. BedJet didn’t do the trick- sent it back within one day

You can raise your AC temperature to a more affordable number. This device is said to use 150 watts. Wonder if using both the air device and the water one would allow to sleep no AC. Using 150 watt is not difficult to generate compared to a 600W window unit.

Jesus; I guess I’m the only person on the planet who didn’t like this technology. It would wake me up around 3:30am and it was difficult to get back to sleep. I’ve read that your body actually needs to start naturally warming in the early morning hours and my theory is the chilipad disrupts that natural rhythm. Had some pretty dreary/groggy days as a result of this thing. I do think it’s helpful on the front end, but it hurts the back end of your sleep and unfortunately that’s the most important part.

I bought several chili pads. They only last a couple of years, then trash. No controls allowing for different temperatures during the night. Adding water occurs way too often. Two cubes required for a queen or above. Other manufactures "8" have much better units both from quality and capabilities. I recommend not purchasing any Chili product.

So the way it works is that the water picks up the body heat and dumps it out just like a central air system. A central air system uses Freon.

James Patton we don’t have any ac unit at all. I’d say my room is in the 80s or high 70s. I wouldn’t know. My husband isn’t happy too. We might considering returning it. We notice underneath our pillow is much cooler so I am assuming once it’s been untouched covered fully but once we lay down the bed becomes warmer....trying to figure it out how I can make this work

Babu Moon yeah the AC helps a lot but if you run it for a while covered it should help. It’s like a cooling pillow sensation. Maybe humidity has something to do with it? Here in AZ it is very dry so maybe the chili pad is cooler to operate?

Does the pad let your joints sink into the mattress? A memory foam works with your body heat and softens up. I wonder what happens with this pad on. I always get pressure points with pads or even tightly tucked sheets.

it would probably depend on the type of foam and the ambient temp of the room. I think it would mostly just feel a little cooler than a pressure difference.

nope. The bed just sleeps noticeably cooler. I don't know if everyone would love this but we do! We have updated viedo of it on our nectar review and happsy review we talk about how we still use it.

Considering this product for summer winter camping in van..electric adjustable bed..winter windshield washer fluid so won’t freeze…called them up and they said won’t violate warranty…just concerned about evaporation…hence mattress warmer pad and fan is still a contender….one more thing..the unit will produce heat to chill hence might cancel out chilling effect

yes we prefer our eight sleep pod pro 3. Have you seen our reviews on that? These units are not ACs though so its important to know that. They do not have any Freon. They do produce some heat so when they are far away from your bed they are much better. I like mine on the floor and it keeps our bed cooler.

well in arizona its dry so the temp feels cool at 75. In Michigan where i am from, 75 feels kind of hot. This helps cool you directly in your bed.

If you keep your thermostat set at 76 and your chili cube is chilling the water down to 55 degrees, Then PLEASE SHOW US With a Thermometer that you are able to get that kind of temp difference Because these units do NOT Have any type of REFRIGERANT IN THEM,

nope they dont have refrigerant in them but they are pretty effective in this super dry climate we live in. that is why we have the thermostat at 76ish...it feels like 72 or so. I would say my eight sleep pod pro review we did you can see the thermocam system. I didn't run it all night before the video but you can see how cool it gets after 30 minutes or so.

yeah thats pretty normal in the super dry Arizona weather. 77 feels much more like 72 here.

Yes I guess you could but I think it would get warm quickly after a few hours. I guess you could do that every night.

I can put off some warm air I have noticed if you are right by it. I keep my thermostat at 77at night and with the dry air, this works great.

The outside temp is negligible everyone has AC already. And without your room would be unbearable even with this device.

yeah this is not an ac unit it is sort of like an evaporative cooler which is why it works well in dry climates like Phoenix.

This thing is a piece of garbage and the companies customer service is utter atrocious. Within my second year the pad hose started to leak profusely. When I contacted customer care I was told I would have to replace the entire pad. That costs $450. After paying over $600 for this piece of garbage less than 2 years ago I now have to pay over $450 to use it or it is now just a $600 paper weight less than 2 years after purchasing it. I have never paid so much for something so poorly made with such absolute horrible customer support in my life. This company is garbage.

It chills it via a radiator basically with a fan over coils. It's not air-conditioning though. I recommend the eight sleep now but the chili pad was nice when we tried it!

water evaporates slowly in this dry weather. Plus you want to empty it and clean it out once every other month too. to make it run better. Have you seen our tips video.

i think it would work but i am not sure if it would work the same or better or worse. I think you should maybe just try it first and if you don't like it, i think there is a trial period. I have a few videos on it now so you can see them all and also i have a coupon code too.

Were you paid to do this? Were given the unit for free to do this review? How long are the pump hoses? How far away from the bed can you place the pumps? Is there any significant difference in operation or anything else, if you have the hoses attached at the head of the bed as opposed to having them attach at the foot of the bed? Like is there more water noise if the hoses are at your head? What about bacteria algae and fungus? Is there any concern over time (since a person would be using this every single night) for growth inside the unit, hoses and/or pad, since none of these reviews seem to talk about things that grow in water and no one seems to be mentioning any type of chemicals to put into this water based system?What if you go away for like two weeks vacation? Are you going to come home to a stagnant foul smelling mess? and what if you only have a double/full size bed? are you SOL? Do you buy a Queen size and have 3 inches of pad hanging over on each side? These are the mysteries of life.

Hi Bambam, we were sent the units for free. We love them. We did a cleaning video on them to show how to clean them. You get about 6-7 feet on the hoses so you can put it on the head or foot of the bed and the unit can go under the bed or on the night stand.

COOL BUDDY is $80 to $150 not $600 like chilipad.... jeesh... My better half is going through the change, and the cool buddy has been AWESOME! I would recommend a thick - like flannel fitted sheet over it.... I cannot recommend the cool buddy enough... The pad or the unit will spring a leak or burn out after a year or 2, but it is well worth it!!!! ....ps... why does this guy keep raising his eyebrows? Is it a secret message that they are swingers? hahahaha

For $1,200, the chilipad made my room a million times hotter and made my night sweats 10x worse. The cube blows out HOT AIR!!! Absolutely false advertisement. And it did NOT keep my bed cool. Once i laid down, the bed got hot again. I find it hard to believe he had to actually turn it off because he got “too cold”. The idea is great but there’s a huge design flaw that needs to be fixed.

We love ours. I recommend the Ooler now since it works much better in my opinion and is a little bigger water container. I use the chili blanket and chilipad unit to charge it for on top of me and i love it! Have you seen our update video on the ooler?

I got my ooler three days ago and I am having the exact same issues. The bed is cool when I get in, but my body heat warms up the area I am laying in about five minutes. I have had to crank up my AC because of the exhaust on the ooler. Needless to say, Im less than thrilled with my purchase.

I should add to my comments below that I’m considering the new chili pad which is supposed to be quieter and mine is noisy. I also used to get hives on my legs and back from contact warmth laying in the same place. Now that never happens! If you have pets I recommend cleaning the air vents occasionally since I discovered my dogs hair was somehow migrating to the fan slots. Anyway, great product for people who prefer a cooler mattress for a solid nights sleep!

I have a camper van and wondered how much power it takes to run this.... maybe I don't have to get an secondary AC for my van if I can sleep with this when it's in the 80's at night in Texas?

I am don't think it will replace an AC unit. It runs much better when the air is a little cooler. We keep our AC at 77 at night and it works well but we also have super dry air here in Phoenix. I forget the power consumption.

Interesting review. How does the cube cool the water? It's not clear from the video. Is it just a fan or some other method?

I think it is like a radiator where the water comes in and then cools the water with air blowing through it. We have the Ooler now which is more effective we think and it holds more water so it works better. It is not like an AC unit but more like radiator circulating water and cooling with air. Have you seen our Ooler video?

yeah they are not designed to work in 100 degrees since most people don't sleep in 100 degrees. I think they work well enough in normal room temps. I think of it like a heat sink.

Does the temperature get influenced by the environment? If you set it to its coldest 55 or so, can it have trouble staying there? I have the dual temp layer which pushes out air and I believe they said that can only go 10 or so degrees below room temperature.

It’s a sleep number product you lay over the mattress which pushes out air from beneath you. It’s definitely better than nothing and I need it to sleep, I just feel there’s probably better products out there. I believe mine can go 10 or 12 under room temperature.
