Hey folks, something which seems like it wasn't clear enough in the video based on a few reactions; the damage calculator takes into account the consistency of critting, and the overall damage difference between the two builds is the average after factoring in the lower crit rate of one of the builds! Sorry for any confusion! ☺
@prestige934
@prestige934 Год назад
Just wanted to let you know that your Raiden build prefers More ATK% cause of your weapon choice. Homa has a high base ATK which scales really well with ATK%. But as you are not using any ATK% mainstat, your ATK is on the lower side so any ATK% from substats becomes extremely valuable. (Also Homa already gives a lot of CD). If you were using Engulfing, The ER sand with Higher CV would perform much better

General rules for building any character, the more stats that multiply. Crits, atk, Em, depending on the reactions you make. In case of Raiden would be ER Sand, Atk goblet (its easier to farm). Crits. In your case Houma (crits), ER sands, don't know the goblet but lefting out Xianling makes you lack some atk. Also Houma isn't much relateable and would use the Catch instead. Then do the testing. This testing was already done many times and crits are the most rare and the best stats to increase the dmg. I have just rolled +20cv flower (Engulfing, ER sands, atk goblet) and my initial burst dmg went from 340k up to 414k. So no, crits are overrated at all, people just dont understand the over multipliers.
@Deman_Dema
@Deman_Dema Год назад
Those calculations isn’t show the real problem with low crit rate. Example: you fighting 3 Maguu Kenki. It doesn’t matter, if you burst is crit on 2 of them. Because you will only clear that chamber when the last one that you didn’t crit is dead. So it crucial to have high crit rate so that unfortunate event will rarely happen

My philosophy has been "try to get 3/4 of the substat categories you need, then the roll value doesnt matter, because every roll will go to something they need". Do that for every piece and then you dont have to reinvent the wheel 100x trying to get that perfect roll.

Part of the reason why the atk% is so useful here is because of Raiden's gearing. If she'd been using an atk% cup instead of a DMG one, the crit substat sands would win out by more. Likewise, if she had her signature weapon, that would give her a bunch more attack than the Homa she's using and consequently, reduce the impact of the atk% substat. Homa also adds a bunch of crit DMG, which means the impact of the crit DMG on the artifact is reduced, while the impact of the atk% is boosted. And, of course, many people run a Catch on Raiden, which provides DMG for her burst, and consequently, adds value to an atk% cup, rather than a DMG one, which would in turn lower the value of the atk% substat on the Sands. And then all of that is then all impacted by team considerations as well, as the video mentions But anyway, a single artifact can't be properly evaluated in a vacuum. In this case, the Raiden should be looking into if she should swap to a different cup to better go with the new sands. And so, yup, people definitely need to look at more than just CV. Including making sure you have enough ER% for burst dependent characters.
@saurusness
@saurusness Год назад
Yes exactly this! My own raiden still has an ATK cup because I never managed to get an ER sands OR an electro cup on set (after a solid year of living in hat domain, i kid you not), and the cup she has is a very very good one! I have personally never used CV or even roll value as a measure, as I long ago discovered sometimes you just need a sub par looking artefact to fill in the slot and balance the build 😁

This is the best explanation I’ve seen of this. I first noticed this phenomena when building Ganyu. I had a 4* circlet with like 16% attack, and when I tried to replace it with 5* circlet with no attack, it actually did less damage, even though the crit damage was much lower. Eventually I managed to roll much nicer 5* artifacts, but it was a huge learning moment for me.

@zirkereuler5242
@zirkereuler5242 Год назад
@@ScottBarthelemy there aren't any diminishing returns in this case, only reactions have diminishing returns. In fact the opposite is happening, stacking Att % doesn't make the stats less valuable it makes others more valuable since they multiply off the Att value, similarly stacking crit and dmg bonus doesn't make them less valuable, but makes Att stat increases more valuable. Hopefully this doesn't come across as snobby but I've seen so many people claim that the attack stat has diminishing returns. Here is an example: If i have 100 base attack, and i get 10% Att stat, i now get 110 final attack value, if i get another 10% att stat i would get 120 final attack value, there was no diminishing return I got the same exact proportion of Att value from 10% as i did from 20%. If we now suppose that we have 100 base attack and 100% damage bonus, final damage value would be 200, if I got another 10% damage bonus it would go up to 210. However, if I got 10% Att stat the final damage value would be 220, every % att bonus we get is worth double because of the 100% damage bonus, it's not that damage bonus has diminishing returns it's that att % has become valuable due to stacking % dmg bonus. Lastly with 100 base attack, 100 % damage bonus, and 10% Att bonus, if we now got another 10% damage bonus, we would see that this 10% damage bonus would give more final damage than if we only had 100 base attack and 100% damage bonus, 11 extra final damage vs 10 extra final damage respectively.

Dendro definitely alleviated a lot of the need for players to keep farming crit stats because hyperbloom, burgeon, and bloom teams just don't care about those stats, and they're some of the most available/accessible teams in the game (can run full 4 star teams for those archetypes)

you can run a full 4 star team with most archetypes... i think. well geo can anyway, pretty easily. national and its 4 star variations are also pretty good, a bunch of dendro teams, some electro variations... all viable with only four stars. i think the only ones that might not work sufficiently well with only four stars are teams like freeze teams. but you can still do melt if you want to go cryo. should work with enough investment.
@azzip5863
@azzip5863 Год назад
to be honest, it all depends in the end; depends on the team you're using, the weapon, the set, the character, etc. like, an atk cup on raiden isn't as viable when you have her signature, as if you were like, with the catch because of that, crit would be a better option, and, as said in the video, bennett and his atk buff would also make the characters needs different. great video overall, it does increase the awareness of overvaluing crit. p.s: some time ago, my ayaka had 2k atk and 278cdmg, but i managed to change my build to a 2.5k atk and 230cdmg and her damage go up considerably, so yeah, not only we overvalue crit but we also overcap onto it sometimes

I wanted to point out one thing about improving your damage without touching artefacts (you did brush on it slightly). When you're doing hard time-gated content (abyss) and doing your rotations, quality is better than quantity. It's much better for you if you do one setup and rotation properly, than trying to squeeze in as many as possible incorrect ones. Learn your setups. If youre playing anemo unit with VV, learn how to swirl properly the element(s) you need, trust me on this, a big chunk of dmg comes from that (also, Zajef77 has a video how to swilr with kazuha in every team). If you're playing characters with snapshottable abilities (xiangling) learn when to cast them to get the buff you need. Just, understand your team. Yt has an overbudance of guides, abyss runs and such, and you'll see big improvement should you learn rotations/setups. Also build your ER folks!
@raptori
@raptori Год назад
Yeah people massively underrate this! Optimising your rotations takes far less effort than grinding artifact does, it's just a bit more abstract and harder to get started for some people. That's why we created the rotations app - makes it easier to get started! (genshin-rotation.com/)

@TexasRedFam @GenshinYuppe Most casual players I know who are willing to farm artifacts want to heavily invest into 1 character/team and don't really care about anything else. They want to know the most optimized build for their favorite character, and there's no easy way to reach that level without lots of experience. I've found that a lot of casual players are often reducing the dmg output of their characters because they only see CV, and not other factors. Sadly, RV is also not perfect, especially when the player doesn't quite understand what counts as a good stat.

Sure, it’s not as fun to spend your resin on ley lines instead of chasing the high of the perfect artifact, but especially as you get to a point where your artifacts are good enough on a few important sets, you’ll get a MUCH better value focusing on things like talents and experience instead of getting that piece with 8 useful rolls instead of 5. @qwsxedcrfv
@qwsxedcrfv Год назад
Another thing to consider: most stat buffs have less relative value the more of that stat you have (like Bennet's atk buff making atk% substats less valuable), but some stats don't decrease linearly. Notably, EM loses value much faster due to its contribution to a dynamic multiplier rather than being s simple % increase, making values past 200-400 have limited value outside of transformative reactions and values past 1000 usually not worth it outside of pure reaction teams like bloom+its derivatives. The reason why crit value is so often focused on is because crit offsets its value loss by *gaining* some value the more of it you have, due to crit damage being more effective the more crit rate you have. In practice, this is only really relevant in the highest stages of investment, where characters are assumed to have most of the large, easily-accessible buffs like Bennet and VV/Kazuha. As a general rule, first consult kqm's fantastically detailed character guides, but assuming the character isn't lacking important stats that aren't being made up through external buffs, a 60-120 ratio is about where crit starts becoming more valuable than other stats most of the time, and past 70:140 crit is usually notably more valuable than anything else (note that characters like Raiden or Nahida don't usually make it past 60:120 because they have other stats that are more valuable for them that they need artifacts to invest into, whereas those like Hu Tao and Ayaka tend to go very far into crit simply because they can do so without sacrificing the bare minimum of other stats).

This is a very beautifully edited video with a lot of good points. I just have a comment regarding RV: Although RV can somewhat correlate with how "good" an artifact is, it is by no means perfect. This is simply due to the fact that it is very difficult to judge how effective an artifact is without putting it in the context of a build on a character/team. This is why RV(or even relative RV) should not be the only metric to judge how good at artifact is: it only tells you how well you rolled your artifact according to the maximum it can roll, but it cannot account for main stats, artifact set, nor how effective your characters can utilize each stat. Unfortunately, since the Genshin Optimizer does not, and will not tell users how to play the game, it is up to the players to properly educate themselves, and mentally weigh the RVs on their artifact in context with their artifact availability, main stats, character setup, and overall usefulness. The state of Genshin discourse is very CV heavy, which leads to a lot of ignorance, but the same can be said for RV as well, if creators and guide creators don't frame its nuances in the right manner. I think your video is heading in the right direction towards making users more aware and more empowered with their artifacts, and I want to applaud your efforts towards providing such insightful resources towards genshin optimization.

This is a great video, CV is not everything. Even roll value is slightly dubious, but weighted roll value is probably the best metric! The real reason your 0 CV sands performs similar to your 32 CV is because you have quite unbalanced main stats, this is kinda like a special case. We know that Raiden needs at least 1 ATK main stat on either Sands or Goblet, but you have neither. Instead, you are overflowing in terms of DMG bonus; see your A4, Goblet and 4-set Emblem. If you want to do ER + Electro as you have now, you better pull Engulfing Lightning to balance out the stats with more ATK%!

Right! but that's part of the issue/the point: these are the best artefacts the account has after hundreds of hours of farming, and it just goes to show you can't guarantee your main stats OR your sub stats, and so it'll always be a balancing game in the end! the point being that ultimately you'll have to judge a build by the overall stats, rather than on an individual artefact basis 🥰 My own Raiden actually does have engulfing heh, and she's in fact on an attack goblet because on my own account I never managed to get an ER sands or an electro dmg goblet on set, despite also living in that domain for well over a year 😂

@@saurusness Great answer! I think what you are saying is especially true if resource management is of great importance (resin optimization). Especially for new players, you are much better off chasing upgrades in other areas rather than banging your head on the same artifact domain over and over again, especially if you already have a decent mix of useful stats. But at the same time, I do believe that the true final end game of Genshin is actually to just chase after these meaningless 2-3% dmg increases. If you also played since day 1, I'm more than certain that you are very rich in the game in terms of mora, xp books, talent books and gem stones. This is probably only a problem for the veteran players; but what else do you do with all of this overflowing resin if not perfect your builds?

for my builds I tend to divide them into stages. usable: 60 crit rate, over 100cd and enough er ok: 60/160+, enough er and some useful substats, doesn't have to be the bis set good: 80/160+ for consistent crits, and enough useful substats (er can drop a bit if there are enough batteries in the team), bis set great: 80/200 (or 90/190 for those who refuse to roll cd) for that juicy crit ratio, sacrificing a little bit of useful substats amazing: 80/200 with great substats. I only have 3 characters at great and above, Scara (who only needs a crit circlet with an atk% sub to be perfect), Bennett (who's on 4pc crimson), and Ningguang who somehow has my best build with her 2pc atk 2pc atk. crit rolls give the largest increase in dps in the long run, but you gotta have useful subs as well or your characters will be lacking, technically I can get my wanderer to have a better crit ratio if I switch to an offset sands and an on set feather (like +10cv), but his offset feather has 13% atk which is his only piece with an atk substat, so it's insanely valuable.

my general rule is tbh, get around 50 cr - 140/150 cdmg, at least 2000 atk (or less if character can boost their atk in some way... looking at you hu tao) and of course get the main stats correctly. Thats for most dps characters, the exception is the pure reaction teams (the dendro stuff mostly), here its just stacking em and crit instead (unless its bloom reactions, there you just stack em)

It's my first time watching your video (bless the algorithm), but it was a much more pleasant experience than I thought it would be. While I don't fiddle with the rotational aspect a lot, I'm one of those stat optimizers. Your point is totally valid, you nailed it better than anything I could explain. I'm just here to explain some of the more interesting math facts. 1. A 5% difference is actually huge. You don't often see artifact output difference this large. One of my funniest experience happened to when I upgraded my Hu Tao Shimenawa last year or so. I got a pretty nice 6 crit rolls piece with 1 ATK% (my current piece is also impressive, with 5 crits, 2 ATK% and a EM roll). I eyeballed it to be better, but to alleviate my trust issue, I went to genshin optimizer anyway. It did pick that, with something less than 0.2% difference. I didn't devaluate the single EM line in calculation - Hu Tao can only vapes smth like 80% of her damage because it was a hassle. Shouldn't change the actual difference much. 2. Take another example, an additional crit line (6.6 CV) on a 90 180 dps (92.2 184.4) is 3%. It's big, right? True, but going from 5 crit lines to 6 crit lines is a bigger RNG hurdle than most people think. We are more likely to use 7 or 8 useful rolls with 5 to 6 crits and changing more of the composition instead of the number of useful rolls. Changing the composition usually does not result in 1 or 2% margin. That big of a margin only comes from adding additional lines. Your roll value method is the actual way to go, although eyeballing requires somewhat a good understanding of the stat distribution and usage. For example, while a crit line typically results in 3-3.5% dps increase, while getting a 5% ATK from 1000 Base ATK is just 1.67% dps increase at 3000 ATK, and even at 2000 ATK it's 2.5%, way less than what a crit line could do. Typically we need something like 1.5 lines of ATK% to be equal to a crit roll, although some teams suffle this up. For example, Ayaka with free 55% CR from set and double Cryo typically have 1.2 ATK% = 1 crit. Other stats like EM and ER is A LOT harder to correctly evaluate. 140% ER is kqm reccommendation for Ayaka, although if you are little more concious of your energy usage, you can go down to 110% with practically the same team. So, it goes from the most important stat to just fault tolerance device. 3. Some teams have a character doing 90% of the work, something like Xiao hypercarry. Not very typical, someone like Hutao in double Hydro only does 40-50% of team damage. That being the case, 3% dps increase in Xiao is even more valuable than Faruzan doubling her damage.

as a player who likes flashy looking builds with high CV, I've burned myself out of the game simply because of the grind it takes to get the sets and numbers that look good. but even before then, i figured that attack versus crit is just a matter of diminishing returns. attack only goes so far, and same with crit. My Raiden has pretty okay stats (something like 50/120 but close to over 2k attack and 287 ER%) and can do an okay 60-100k with her burst. it really is just dependent on what you have for your build and what you're willing to sac to get the stats you want. like I use skyward spine over my R5 catch because it has a way higher base attack, so her attack gets higher with Bennett, meaning the damage is only off by about ~5%, which is less than enough to make me want to switch when xiangling can just as easily use it
@Cytryz
@Cytryz 11 месяцев назад
Crit damage is only valuable if you crit, otherwise all those stats (including crit) go down the gutter on those hits. Meanwhile the other stats are non conditional in their value. EM will always provide its value when you play, atk/hp/def/er will also always present value. Then there’s the fact that some character’s personal dmg is so low it’s a bit silly to prioritize Cr/CrD. Like Toma would be better off prioritizing EM and ER. If you get some HP%, Atk%, or Cr then take those as a nice bonus. Not to mention had you put those resins towards guarantees such as lvls, talents, and weaps then you’d find your account naturally growing stronger. I have almost every character in the game and almost every character fully built. They may not be ideally built in terms of having the perfect matching set but they have most of the stats they need to function. Once finishing talents, a very expensive endeavor, then I can focus on slowly increasing the value of my account at the mercy of RNG gods. To 36 star the abyss your artifacts only need to be decent in terms of consistency across your team. If anything, it’s only those occasional battle events that have stricter artifact requirements to nab those bonus weapon xp crystals. This is to not mention that it’s very possible in the future there will be domains or enemies that modify your crit value which lowers the importance of crit. It has happened in many other games before. So I agree, don’t get hung up on spending months chasing after a 1-5% increase (maybe even decrease if you underestimate the other stats)

Very much this! I also love building characters and swapping them in and out frequently, and I HATE sharing artefacts, which means a lot of my characters, especially supports/sub DPS types, have merely "good" builds, nothing to applaud, they simply meet the requirements. Some of my most used abyss characters, like Xiangling, haven't had their artefacts updated for over 2 years, and I think if some people saw her build they'd be appalled 😂

The thing with crit is you need two stats for it to work, but the effect grows multiplicatively. The huge crit damage will not help you unless you have crit rate above the certain level. And then, having your CR higher than the certain amount (which is different depending on the character, team, and other bonuses) will bring no effect whatsoever. And no, this is not about balancing crits 2:1, just forget it already. There is no such thing, get it? Crit rate is more important in the beginning, when you don't really have much. Each percent below 50% is a huge deal. But after you hit the ceiling, there is no benefit at all. Crit damage on the other hand have no ceiling, but it only matters as long as you can land a crit hit. If you have only 20% chance of doing so, your actual crit damage value is as low as 1:5 when compared to attack percentage stat. So before you evaluate your artifact, have a look at the character stat summary. Each percent of CR changes the value of your CD.

True, It's all about balance. Most DPS characters requires Main scaling stat(HP/Def/Atk), CR/CD with certain ER requirements. Some high and low. Others needs EM For Raiden specifically on standard build, she needs ER, ATK, CR, CD. The only exception for DPS are the new Dendro bloom reactions. All you need is just one stat. EM. Overall, CV isn't everything. A non-wasted stat distribution is.

When I level artifacts for my characters, I aim to have a minimum of 3 useful substats. If both are crit and the other two are useless, I'll try anyway. Sometimes the artifact just has EM, atk, and ER but as long as those are useful, it's fine! Once an artifact has two failed rolls before +20 (and counting an artifact with only 3 substats as having a failed roll already), I'll unlock it and feed it to another "maybe" artifact if one is available. But it's worth noting that I'm not going to farm an entire domain just for one character. When I'm in Momiji-Dyed Court, I'm looking for HP for Yelan+Thoma, atk for Xiangling+my future Raiden, and DEF for Gorou. And of course I want ER for all of them, and Thoma and Gorou don't care about crit but do benefit somewhat from EM. There are many possibilities to make a piece have potential, so it doesn't feel like a waste to keep farming and farming. And on the other side, a great Shimenawa piece can be a good placeholder for a character I'm still building if it isn't good enough for my Yoimiya. You might have noticed that Xingqiu isn't in this list. That's because Xingqiu already has excellent hydro dmg bonus artifacts so there's no reason to start his build over from scratch. Even though Emblem is his BiS, there is no way an Emblem build is going to beat the pieces I have on him when there is so much competition for Emblem pieces and none for what he's got.
@saurusness
@saurusness Год назад
Yeah I have a very similar method although I'm sometimes slightly less strict on the failed rolls; a total of 3 failed rolls **if** the the other 3 substats are very good and the other 2 rolls have gone into the "ideal" one(s) so to speak. I agree, there's little need to rebuild a character with their BiS if you've already got a good build for them. In vast majority of cases you'd likely not improve their build much, and with Xingqiu for example his needs are so generic there are many other characters who would love to use the sae pieces especially from emblem! For what it's worth: this video is not meant to discourage people from farming artefacts, nor is it in anyway meant to say there's no point to it at all! This video is meant to highlight that there comes a point at which the grind (if it feels like a grind) for better pieces isn't necessarily worth it, just like with your Xingqiu :)

For example some of my characters have Atk% or even EM circlet instead of Crits If I wouldn't be getting more like 15% Crit rate of the artifact set I want to use, anyway. Then constant dmg boost from ATK% just works much better.

Also don't forget the ER. I can't explain how much more fluid and enjoyable my team comps became after I started building more ER. Ideally, you want enough er to be able to finish one rotation and when you're done, next one is ready. I allow myself a few more seconds to fuel some particles, but it gotta be just a few skills/favonious procs, else you're losing time (if you're in abyss) and health (if enemy scary and you have no bursts to ). Of course, won't apply to teams that don't use bursts, like hyperboom. Happy building

@@hannuak in the early game crit is pretty meaningless. Crit only really becomes valuable once you can do so consistently, which generally means all 5 star artifacts and a halfway decent ratio. I love the Genshin streamer community but they have 100% poisoned the well on artifacts. The math clearly shows the odds of getting a "god roll" for each slot or even a S tier artifact are so low that you're more likely to get struck by lightning. They pay to refresh resin and create an unrealistic view of what players are actually going to have access to. It's a whale mentality that assumes you're spending thousands of dollars on the game. There is a great video that shows a much more achievable standard: Flower: 7 (try for 3 crit rolls) Feather: 7 (try for 3 crit rolls) Sands: 3-4 (3 crit) Circlet: 3 (2 crit) Goblet: 2 (both Crit if possible...effing goblets) This character would play more than fine and be able to clear Spiral. Total up the rolls and you get 22 rolls which is considered bad in most circles. I use this on every character and clear 36 star easily. Flower rolls ATK%, ER, Crit Rate%, HP? Level it up, if you get two more rolls into crit rate it's fine. Slap it on. Stop worrying about getting 9 good rolls on your flower and feather. F@#$ that. A good rule of thumb is that you should NEVER spend more resin on your character in the artifact domains then you did getting them to 9-9-9 max level.

Crit is not overrated. It is just an universal multiplier that is very reliable to Main DPS characters and many Sub-DPS characters. However, it is not the best stat in the game. That would be Energy Recharge, because a team needs all it's resources to be in check for rotations to work out. Crit cannot keep the consistency of a loopable rotation if a character needs its own burst to be ready at every loop.

The only place it matters are events (which are typically easy to get most/all the rewards), exploration battles with the red bell (95% extremely easy), and of course spiral abyss where imo the rewards arent worth the effort. I basically stopped playing spiral abyss after I hit AR 60 in 3.1 because I realized the time and effort to do the frustrating fights was less fun to me than just walking around the world or playing another game, all for another 3 and a half wishes or whatever. I can get 34-36* basically every time but if i hate it what's the point. 😆 My newer characters have something like 25% CR and 85% CD and I dont even notice for 90% of content. I'm only missing a handful of 5 stars I chose to skip, and almost everyone else is fully built and fully equipped at all times (no sharing equipment), and I like it that way as it allows me to swap teams on a whim without having to rebuild people every time and easily test different teams ☺

You would be surprised how a rainbow artifact set with better substats deals more damage than the decent EoSF you have. Genshin Optimizer showed me this. Been farming Gilded for a long time and haven't got a single set that could rival the god tier rainbow set I have on my Yae Miko. Before aiming for the set, aim for the substats first! The lucky artifact you got could have brought more effective stat increase if Raiden has not been limited by the confines of the EoSF set that you are trying to achieve. Crit stats are always in high regard if you are min maxing stats for a character, there is no compromise for it. As you mentioned on the pinned comment, the non-crit artifact loses value over time because it is not critting enough during rotation cycles, although the crit artifact only brought a small amount of damage increase it ramps up over the course of the rotation leaving behind the non-crit alternative.

Overall good video, the thing is Raiden is a bad example for this type of talk I feel because she has alot more options for damage builds than most characters, that being said is true that people go overboard with crit but… it depends on the character we are talking about a lot of characters won’t play well without enough crit and it’s just that simple, we would need to take it one character at a time to see the full Picture, because not every character uses atk well and it much better with crit, EM is very over looked as well. But it’s hard to change it up when players have been playing the same way for so long. Crit is not overrated, ATK is underrated.
@raptori
@raptori Год назад
Yeah depends a lot on not only the character, but also what weapons the account has, and what artifacts they happen to get... the video was prompted by that specific artifact rolling, and the surprise that it made so little difference! @Axterix13
@Axterix13 Год назад
I think in a way, Raiden is a good example, rather than a bad one. The impact of swapping weapons to one with DMG or one with more atk (her signature) at the cost of crit DMG, as well as attack % cup versus DMG% cup also would play into all that. So in this case, the Raiden is in a situation that amps up the value of the atk% substat, as she's using a DMG cup and a Homa. Unfortunately, the video doesn't really touch upon overall stat balance, and how this could mean that a new X might also mean you'll want to adjust Y. That does makes sense, as the focus here is more on "Is it really worth trying to upgrade just this one piece?" rather than "What should I aim for overall?", but I do think it could have been touched upon a bit better.

@Shizumu1
@Shizumu1 Год назад
First off, you absolutely did not compare a 21% atk er sands with a 34% crit value er sands, you compared it with a 14% crit value sands. that 10% crit rate is a massive buffer that cannot go underlooked as the current raiden build is lacking some serious consistency. Assuming you want to clear abyss floor 12 and maybe even 9 star it, there is absolutely no reason to level anyone or their talents that is not required in the teams you play. While I understand playing the game for enjoyment of the characters, this video is about damage. While maximizing rotations is important, it will NOT get you 36* in the abyss. Crit on a HYPERCARRY is absolutely the most important stat to go for and 21% atk on all of your artifacts will get you just about nowhere. That being said, its important to enjoy the game and I appreciate your effort in making the video!
@saurusness
@saurusness Год назад
Where are you getting 14% crit value from? 👀 I'm merely curious because I think you use a different method of calculating to most people I've seen. I can promise you my merely good-not-perfect teams have consistently 36 starred the abyss for almost 2 years (as long as i've consistently focused on the abyss) :D You basically have two choices: have an epic hypercarry with merely functional supports, or have the whole team pretty solidly built - either way you have to at the very least know your basic rotation, but the better your rota, the better the results, truly! For me, it's more enjoyable (or really less frustrating) to get a "good" build on all the characters, vs investing all my time into one, which is kinda the main point of this video :D Ty for watching! 💜
@raptori
@raptori Год назад
Yeah why ignore the 10% crit rate when calculating crit value? 🤔 Also disagree on the rest - I've got 36* every time for the past couple of years, and a lot of that does come from optimising rotations rather than optimising artifacts. I've had times where I was 30+ seconds away from getting the third star on a chamber, spent some time figuring out what I was doing wrong with the rotations, and then had tons of time to spare once I'd got the rotation down. Also note that the video in the background is me doing the current abyss with the Raiden covered in the video! 36 stars in one run - the team I used for the final floor *needs* that extra attack for Raiden to do enough damage there, since there's no attack buffer in that team. And yeah of course if you *only* focus on ATK on your artifacts you'll get nowhere - the point of the video is that focusing on crit *too much* can very much be a bad thing!
@Shizumu1
@Shizumu1 Год назад
@saurusness Sorry for the misleading wording, the point I was trying to make is that you are effectively ignoring the 10% crit rate when doing a damage comparison due to crit rate being a measure of consistency and not damage (crit rate on this artifact makes up a large portion of its crit value so removing it is -20CV making it 14CV). Besides that, I personally struggled with bad artifacts for a very long time and investing too much into multiple characters making it very hard for me to 36* consistently up until this year despite being a day 1 player. I totally agree that balancing time and investment into characters is important and I was watching while doing other things so I think I heard only part of the story (sorry again.) I apologize (x3) if I came off as mean or rude as that was not my intention. Thanks for taking time out of your day to reply to every comment and have a wonderful day

Which part is getting you lost? Is it the crit value etc? I can copy/paste an explanation if that's it! Emblem is just generally good at providing lots of damage for characters who rely on their bursts and need a high ER stat. The reason that domain specifically is considered a good one to farm is that in addition to the 4-piece Emblem being good on a lot of people, both the Emblem 2-piece and the Shimenawa 2-piece are pretty great for a ton of characters as well! Most domains tend to have at best one set which is useful, which means you get a lot more useless artifacts from them.

Crit isn't overrated. Raiden is a super specific case, especially your build. In every character like in every equation, if you want the most damage, you want all your icognites (sources of damage) to be evenly spread out like: 3*3*3=27 or 3*2*4=24 and this applies to every character (this is an example on why spreading stats is ideal) Saying crit isn't as valuable is a mistake since in game and in abyss there are a lot of atk% buff sources. Like Bennett, like noblesse, like nymph's, like tenacity...etc This makes it so when you get those buffs, your stats are evenly spread out. If we did what you explained about atk%, after those buffs, the character wouldn't be balanced and would be the equivalent of 3*1*5= 15 which is significantly worse than the evenly spread options above. But of course, if you're playing Raiden alone with no teammates nor buffs, the best build would be too have a little of everything besides EM since you wouldn't be doing reactions without a team Additionally, even if 1 artifact doesn't make much of a difference, if this mindset is applied to the whole build, it will definitely suffer in damag. Just like you need to get little by little to get a great build, if you laze out little by little on each artifact, all that will add up and the whole build will be the result of all those lazed out artifacts. Anyways, a good team and skill will always beat the content so it all comes down to skill issue if you can't go through abyss.. although artifacts always play a role
@raptori
@raptori Год назад
You're actually agreeing with the video! Lots of discussion and content around artifacts focuses heavily on crit, so we often see people building way too much crit, with builds which would be like 1*4*4=16 (atk/cr/cd); the vid is arguing for balancing that out!
@nexuhs.
@nexuhs. Год назад
@@raptori arguing to balance it out is a mistake because you'll never use your characters alone, on a vacuum, without a team. Since atk buffs are super common and will happen a lot throughout the team rotation, it only makes sense to build 1*3*3 (atk cr cd) since the buffing when damage actually matters will end up being (1+2)*3*3 due to the inflated atk stat on the buffs
@raptori

@@nexuhs. Yeah, that's why we ran the comparison numbers for the two teams I use Raiden in the most - it's all in the video! 5:20 You don't want to look at overall damage. For example it doesn't matter if Bennett's buff doesn't have 100% uptime because Raiden isn't dealing relevant damage for 100% of the buff's duration anyway. She deals damage in her ult and then her personal damage plummets. So you realistically only want to look at what is achievable and sustainable in her burst window, whatever happens outside of her burst window is irrelevant since she does no damage anyway, it's the time to recharge and setup the next rotation. That being said, calculating optimal stats in Genshin is very challenging so it's good that you're trying to explain it to people! ^_^
@Giltia

I personally use crit value as my baseline when judging artifacts, and just eyeball secondary stats that are nice. I usually weigh good attack% rolls more favorably than a "slight" increase in CV. But I'll often take CV over ER or EM unless it's a character that really wants more of those two stats. My Xinqui is particularly finnicky to improve because while it'd be easy to just improve his CV, his artifacts have JUST enough ER that he can battery himself in a single Sac Sword combo. Meanwhile my Xiangling has 270% ER and still feels like she needs more.

When you have played the game for almost 3 years now how to build a character just automatically clicks in your brain. It's not just artifacts, you need to think about the weapon's passive and match the artifacts to that. I have engulfing lightning which means my raiden's er and atk are not to worry about. So best option is to stack as much crit as possible.
@saurusness
@saurusness Год назад
You have the right idea, though in reality your choices are usually somewhat heavily limited by available options (entirely determined by rng). As seen in the examples for this video; even taking into account the lower crit rate AND bennet's massive attack buff, the lower attack/higher crit build was a mere couple of percentages better. Sometimes those couple of percentages might be all you wanted, but I personally don't consider it worth farming for *specifically*, if that makes sense :)
@alexenderman6925
@alexenderman6925 Год назад
I disagree with the point of the video because of 2 reasons: 1. Crit roles are just best for every character that wants to do damage, as sometimes a character doesn’t want attack like yelan or hu tao, however crit is almost always valuable (almost being with the one exception: kokomi) 2: the reason crits are more important is because in 99% of scenarios, diminishing returns can hit worse with a hyper build, as just giving raiden bennet or sara (much less both) can make crit much more valuable. So in conclusion: crits are the ultimate stat as it’s universal in almost all cases, while attack isn’t, as well as the fact that crits for a specific build like in this one are similar but the entire point is optimizing with artifacts (just think about the fact that everyone drills that 1/2 ratio is the most important, however a 1/3 ratio is 98.7 percent of 1/2 ratio, that’s a 1.33% less damage which is basically nothing, but it’s all about optimizing)
@prestige934

ER is still more important on relevant characters but I get your point. In her case she was using a Crit weapon with no ATK mainstats or even pyro resonance . Obviously your build is begging for some ATK% stats
@tetsuclaw

People ignoring energy recharge is SOOOOO common. I see more c0 Yelan builds with less than 130% ER than more for example. Kazuha is another one I often see around 110-120% ER. Now strong builds are not needed for open world so the only real content you would be this focused on min/maxing your artifacts would be for Spiral abyss. When you do your abyss you are doing a team rotation and if your rotation stalls out where you cannot continue due to not having energy to use your bursts that feels soo bad. Stuck doing nothing until you have energy back. People also dont understand how much of a DPS loss it is if they get large chunks of time doing nothing as they need their energy.

Something I always keep in mind when building my characters is a par amount of 26 rolls. Most characters have 3 primarily useful stats in their build and 26 rolls is what you get when you get all the needed stats from each piece and roll an average 2 rolls in each of them. In practice you will have some weaker pieces and some stronger pieces so it will kind of balance out, but this number is a very reasonable target for most builds. Past 26 rolls you are reaching the territory of needing to be extremely lucky in every slot so it becomes a massive sink to continue to push stats for.

Incorrect - the DPS is what we were using the calculator to compare! When it wasn't noticeably different, I went to check the calcs, and they showed that the DPS difference is negligible.

No no, the calculations take into account both the higher crit rate on one build, AND bennett's buff (which adds attack to both builds), and with taking all that into account, the difference was still negligible!
